This article discusses Henry Jenkin’s concept of transmedia as the art of making worlds, in reference to the building of fictional worlds, to theoretically expand on this definition for the documentary genre. If Bill Nichols stated that non-fiction genre has a great persuasive power -because of the indexical nature of its images and sounds, and the psychological effect of verosimility created in the audience- we defend the idea that this character is increased through the transmedia storytelling. The immersion, extrability and performativity of this kind of narrative form lead to an active user role in the transmedia world, that coincides with his own world, the real one. That is why numerous activist projects have used the transmedia documentary as an opportunity for critical thinking and social change.

The aim of this paper is to reflect on the theoretical tools that critical discourse analysis provides to an understanding of the phenomenon of suicide. Two discussions are central to defining the foundation for that relationship. First, a critical examination of the relationship between different mass media platforms and the idea of imitation as it pertains to suicidal conduct is proposed. Subsequently, suicide is approached as a practice that is interpolated by social, political, and cultural constructions, not solely limited to psychopathology. Finally, the role of critical discourse analysis generates an understanding of suicide that problematizes the hegemonic narratives produced by the epistemological and political demands of technoscience.

For purposes of analysis and also to find meaning, much has been written about two intrinsically-linked terms: nationalism and the nation. The main positive consequence of this has been a vast theoretical debate about nationalism and the nation that undoubtedly enriches them. On the other hand, the main negative consequence is that development of the debate itself and its evolution have received little attention. The aim of this article is to show how this debate was constructed around the four classical paradigms of nationalism. To do this, the Kuhnian scheme is applied to determine when, how, and why these classical paradigms were articulated around these two terms. The main purpose of this is to delve into the historical explanation given by Moreno Almendral (2015), but from the philosophy of science, developing a much more detailed vision of the debate around nationalism and the nation.

Since 1935, with the discovery of the phenomenon of quantum entanglement, unresolved questions and postulates have been generated, which have dismantled the basis of classical physics. Based on the reciprocal behavior of certain particles regardless of their distance, the existence of a state with a single-wave competence is assumed for the entire system, forcing us to accept new concepts such as non-locality and non-separability . Nowadays, creators are increasingly approaching the analysis of entanglement from different media, as a new source of inspiration and artistic research. In fact, the artistic platform is considered as a resource to spread this phenomenon, along with its theories and mysteries, familiarizing the viewer in one of the most defining manifestations for the progress of humanity.

This paper analyses a series of books, journals and other types of representations produced in Spain between 1968 and 1976 that refer to the so-called Critique of Science. This movement mainly expanded in Western countries during the 70’s. It shows how this critique appeared in different media, although with less relevance in Spanish society.

The formulation of research and development policies is being transformed in a novel way in the most recent documents coming out of Europe. One notable peculiarity is that research patterns are moving toward scientific-technological practices that are more interactive among the various actors of society. Thus, the first measures in response to the complex nature of research are being revealed in strategies for the promotion of entrepreneurial and collaborative attitudes among academic-business actors in research and development. Other approaches are superimposed on these initiatives, approaches that transcend the primarily economistic goal of collaboration and that integrate social and ethical factors in research and development. Nevertheless, these transformations are also subject to underlying tensions and concurrent objectives. The article elucidates these opening-and-closing dynamics and demonstrates that some relationships and demands are more resistant to change.

Mixing methods is a well-known innovative methodologic proposal for research in the second half of the 20th century social sciences. Reading literature about it, I observed the aspect that justifies this paper: Authors of theoretical contributions on mixing methods recognized that this was known to be a practice already in use many centuries ago. Some of them even have re-examined the whole history of the scientific method to search precedents. They are however individual and theoretical precedents. I add in this paper the practical projection of these and other methodological theories on people’s training from Greek classical times. My hypothesis is that liberal arts was the basic syllabus in Western -and westernized- education for more than a millennium in such a way that results of their training precisely involved to mixing methods. In return, to understand the liberal arts in the light of mixing methods shows new aspects of their historical interest. I study the theoretical basis of this syllabus from Cicero to Alcuin. More important for future research, I conclude that Alcuin’s thesis about the correspondence between the gifts of the Holy Spiritu and the seven liberal arts can be extended to the Aristotelian dianoethics habits and to Dilthey’s 20th-century sciences of mind.
