The Indirect Effects of Self-Esteem and Future Work Self on Career Adaptability Factors: A Study of Chinese Undergraduate Students 自尊和未来工作自我对大学生职业适应因素的间接影响

This study examined the indirect effects of global self-esteem (GSE) on the linkage between proactive personality (PP), appearance-contingent self-worth (ACSW), and career adaptability (CA) among 372 Chinese undergraduate students. The indirect effect of future work self (FWS) on the linkage between GSE and CA and between PP and CA was also examined. Results demonstrated that GSE mediated the PP-CA relationship; however, GSE was not a mediator in the ACSW-CA relationship. FWS mediated both the GSE-CA and PP-CA relationships. Gender differences in the strength of the relationships were also observed. The findings expand existing empirical work by demonstrating the important indirect effects of GSE and FWS in relation to CA. Career counselors and educators may encourage students to be more proactive and boost their GSE to accomplish their career goals.

Integrating Career and Mental Health Counseling: Necessity and Strategies 整合职业与心理健康咨询的必要性与策略

Individuals seeking counseling might not recognize the interconnectedness of health, mental health, work, and life concerns. Counselors, however, need to be mindful that a person's wellness is interwoven with their work, life roles, and health. Research supports the interrelationship of career development and mental health as well as the effectiveness of an integrated approach to mental health and career counseling. An integrated approach from an ecological counseling perspective is proposed for conceptualizing client issues and intervention strategies.

Career Services in the Post-COVID-19 Era: A Paradigm for Career Counseling Unemployed Individuals 后covid -19时代的就业服务:失业人员职业咨询的典范

The 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused unprecedented economic disruption and unemployment worldwide, threatening to become both a financial and a humanitarian crisis. Prolonged labor market recession and an acute rise of unemployment are expected. The main question for career counselors will be how to provide effective career counseling to unemployed people in the post-COVID-19 world, where they may face many other unemployment-related problems. In this article, we suggest application of a holistic intervention model of career counseling for unemployed people that was designed to address the consequences of the acute financial recession in Greece.

Supervisor Support for Employee Performance in Australia: Mediating Role of Work-Life Balance, Job, and Life Attitude 澳大利亚主管对员工绩效的支持:工作-生活平衡、工作和生活态度的中介作用

Drawing on the job-demands resources model, we investigated the relationship between supervisor support and employee performance and the mediating effects of work-life balance (WLB), job and life satisfaction, and organizational commitment in a sample of 305 financial-sector employees in Sydney, Australia. Results reveal that supervisor support is positively related to employee performance, WLB, job and life satisfaction, and organizational commitment. In turn, WLB, job and life satisfaction, and organizational commitment are positively linked to employee performance. The findings indicate a significant mediation between supervisor support and employee performance only through WLB and organizational commitment. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.

Sixty-nine Amazon Mechanical Turk workers completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire (Berle et al., 2011), the Career Thoughts Inventory (Sampson et al., 1996a), and the Career State Inventory (Leierer et al., 2017). Worry was significantly correlated with negative career thinking and its dimensions of decision-making confusion and commitment anxiety, with readiness and its dimensions of clarity and certainty, and with the self-assessed cognitive information processing skills of self-knowledge, options knowledge, decision-making, and executive processing. Worry was also found to predict the degree of readiness for career decision-making, negative career thinking, and cognitive information processing requisite skills.
