Abstract Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) is a relatively new diagnosis in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-5). Considering the recency of ARFID’s recognition as a formal diagnosis, much is still unknown regarding ARFID treatment. This study evaluated teleconsultation as a means to enhance a home-based, parent-delivered behavior program to a 17-year-old Latino adolescent male with ARFID, autism spectrum disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. Treatment included parent-delivered differential reinforcement and contingency management procedures, and consultant-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy. Results indicated increases in food consumption for all target foods. Treatment outcomes and practical recommendations are discussed for the remote delivery of home-based feeding programs.

Abstract The current study examines associations between family factors and children’s conduct problems. Participants were 442 families with children ranging in age from 3 to 8 years. Mothers provided data on their distress using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ), and on parenting practices using Parenting Practice Interview (PPI). They also scored children’s conduct problems using Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory (ECBI). Of six parenting practices measured, inconsistent discipline was most closely related to maternal distress and conduct problems. Regression analyses indicated that inconsistent discipline partially mediated the relation between maternal distress and child conduct outcomes. The moderating effects of gender were also examined.

Teachers’ Impact on Psychosocial Treatment for Latinx Youth with ADHD 教师对拉丁裔青少年多动症心理治疗的影响

Abstract This study examined the impact of teacher engagement in a psychosocial treatment for Latinx youth with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Results revealed that teachers were equally engaged in treatment regardless of the source of the referral to treatment, indicating that teachers were motivated to work with students and families. Additionally, results indicated that referral source and teacher engagement in treatment were related to treatment outcomes. These findings indicate that higher-quality teacher intervention implementation is related to enhanced child and parent treatment outcomes in a Latinx sample. Results additionally revealed significant relationships among parental acculturation and treatment outcomes. Clinical implications are discussed.

Lifetime Mental Health and Treatment Readiness among Parents of Children with Externalizing Behavior 外化行为儿童家长的终身心理健康与治疗准备

Abstract Parental lifetime mental disorder symptoms were investigated as a moderator of the association between readiness for treatment and severity of child externalizing behaviors (EB) among 165 parents of clinic-referred children. Readiness and parental mental disorder symptoms were positively associated with greater child EB severity. Mental disorder symptoms moderated the association between parent readiness and child EB, such that among parents with fewer lifetime symptoms, greater readiness for treatment was associated with greater child EB severity. However, readiness was not associated with child EB severity at high levels of parental mental disorder symptoms. Implications for pre-treatment screening and tailoring behavioral parenting treatments are discussed.

Abstract This research examined whether 14 male patients (10–13 years old, with a range of psychiatric conditions) at a residential treatment facility show decreased impulsivity due to weekly yoga sessions in addition to their traditional therapy. For 5 weeks, the number of impulsive behaviours were recorded for eight hours preceding and eight hours following an early afternoon yoga session (short-term) and for 24 waking hours before and 24 waking hours after the session (long-term). Analyses revealed statistically significant short-term and long-term effects of yoga on impulsive behaviours, suggesting that yoga provides a tool to help children successfully reunify with their families.
