The disruption in the supply chain imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic has posed important challenges for companies. This study explores the consequences of the pandemic on the supply chain of companies, identifying the main problems and proposing solutions for future disruptive situations. The qualitative study presented is based on the study of multiple cases obtained through interviews with Portuguese companies. Exploring the multiple cases of companies revealed that companies with less resilient and more vulnerable supply chains, both upstream and downstream, were most affected by the pandemic. The supply chain that includes redundancies and adopting appropriate risk management tools by companies guarantees greater flexibility for supply chains to adapt more quickly to disruptive situations. This exploratory study contributes to the approach of the Complex Adaptive System theory and brings new insights into the consequences of the pandemic on supply chains. © 2022, Czestochowa University of Technology.

Due to its numerous advantages, and largely also because of the COVID-19 pandemic, online shopping has become the easiest and most convenient way for consumers to shop. The main goal of the paper is to analyze the current state of online shopping behaviour of consumers in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Data was collected using a questionnaire. The questionnaire examined selected factors affecting online shopping during the pandemic. A total of 546 respondents took part in the questionnaire survey. The results showed that respondents shopped online more often during the pandemic than they did before the pandemic. The findings also pointed to significant gender differences in terms of selected factors, specifically in the aspect of health, security, speed and time. It was found that women pay more attention to the aspects of health, speed and time, while for men, the security aspect proved to be the most important. The knowledge gained hereunder may help businesses determine marketing and business management strategies that could be implemented not only during the pandemic but also after the pandemic ends. © 2022, Czestochowa University of Technology.

MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES TO AVOID PROFESSIONAL BURNOUT

Professional burnout is one of the significant factors affecting the productivity of the workforce. This has become more common during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the decrease in the psychological safety of employees. Working from home can also negatively affect work-life balance, leading to burnout. Undetected and untreated burnout leads to a decrease in worker productivity and eventually depression and other psychological problems. It is important to create and monitor working conditions to prevent professional burnout. Preventing burnout is always easier to achieve than treating the damaging symptoms. This paper will examine the factors contributing to professional burnout as well as some strategies for mitigating professional burnout. The article identifies the factors of occupational burnout after the COVID 19 pandemic based on the experiences of employees from Poland and the USA. The aim of the work is to indicate the first results of research in the field of occupational burnout, which are conducted on the basis of surveys. The questionnaire summary was prepared according to the model of research on burnout in relation to the pandemic situation. The presented results concern research for both production and service companies. And they are the basis for recognizing the factors responsible for occupational burnout for these employees. © 2022, Czestochowa University of Technology. All rights reserved.
