Lung cancer is one of the most prominent forms of cancer and ranks as the deadliest of disease afflicting humanity. To tackle this issue, a variety of treatment approaches have been devised to counteract this disease. This review aims to illustrate the mainstream curative and palliative treatment methods in managing non-small cell lung cancer, the most common subtype of lung malignancies. For each treatment method, we have investigated its mechanism, classifications, and techniques involved as well as the clinical success of these treatments. Furthermore, we have also included the reasoning behind each treatment plan, including both quality of life as well as overall survival benefits for the patient.

Scorpions has been existing on earth for hundreds of million years, and its venoms are mostly highly toxic and presents a deadly threat to people around the world. Scorpion venoms are highly complicated cocktails of bioactive components including proteins, amino acids, peptides, and other organic or inorganic molecules. Among them, the main active components are bioactive peptides called neurotoxins. Advancements in research on the toxic mechanisms of common scorpion toxins has found various therapeutic properties of several peptides on a large variety of diseases including different types of cancer and infections. Therefore, scorpion venoms may not only be a threat, but also a valuable source of novel drug components, especially therapeutic peptides. This research gives a brief introduction on scorpions and the components of its venoms, and focuses on presenting current knowledge on the medical effects of neurotoxins in scorpion venom, and potentials applications of the peptides in drug development.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an urgent need to understand the long-term health implications faced by survivors. Post-COVID-19 complications, such as acute kidney injury, arrhythmia, and stroke, pose significant challenges to public health. Despite extensive research on COVID-19 complications, a comprehensive understanding of the risk factors remains elusive due to the potential confounding variables present in the data. Traditional statistical models, while insightful, may not fully capture the causal relationships between these risk factors and post-COVID-19 complications. Motivated by this gap in the literature, we propose a novel approach using causal inference models to predict the likelihood of post-COVID-19 complications based on patient demographics and pre-existing conditions. Our model, trained on a dataset of COVID-19 inpatients in Wuhan Province, China, estimates the causal effect of these factors on the likelihood of patients experiencing post-COVID-19 complications. This approach allows us to isolate the causal impact of each factor while accounting for potential confounders, providing a more accurate understanding of the underlying mechanisms driving these relationships. Unlike traditional models that predict the probability of certain outcomes, our model provides insights into the causal relationships between risk factors and complications, offering a more reliable and comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms. This approach can help identify at-risk patients, inform targeted interventions, and contribute to the development of effective prevention and treatment strategies. Our work aims to contribute to the current understanding of the virus and inform public health policies and interventions.

Sickle cell disease is a hereditary blood disease caused by an invisible genetic mutation on the autosome, caused by a transversion mutation in which the 6th amino acid of the -peptide chain, glutamate, is replaced by valine, resulting in the formation of sickle hemoglobin, instead of normal hemoglobin. Due to genetic mutations leading to structural abnormalities in hemoglobin and morphological changes in red blood cells, red blood cells lose their deformability in hypoxic environments, leading to vascular blockage, causing severe pain and partial tissue ischemia in patients. Oxygen needs to be transported to various parts of the body through red blood cells, thereby affecting the transportation of oxygen in the body. In general, red blood cells are circular and elastic, making them easy to move in blood vessels. However, in sickle cells, these red blood cells are compressed and deformed, causing the transportation of oxygen in the blood to become stiff and viscous, potentially slowing or blocking blood flow. The most common complication of SCA is blockage of blood vessels, which leads to pain. Although this is a complex phenomenon, HbS aggregation is a fundamental pathological physiological phenomenon in SCA. HbS aggregation can lead to malignant changes in the shape and physical properties of red blood cells, leading to hemolytic anemia and preventing blood flow, especially in small blood vessels, which may damage some organs. Clinical manifestations include anemia, immunodeficiency, multiple organ damage, severe acute and chronic pain, and premature death. The quality of life of the patients was seriously affected.

Anxiety is a common epidemiological mental disorder that includes Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorders (PD), and phobias; its causes include anxiogenic genes and the living environment; insufficient or low sleep quality can trigger and intensify anxiety disorders. Neurotransmitters play an essential role in operating our bodys crucial functions, such as emotional regulation and sleep, so much neuroimaging evidence suggests they are critical to forming anxiety and insomnia. Previous longitudinal studies suggest that insomnia is a significant index and predictor of mental health and, therefore, can also be generated from mental disorders due to their comorbidity. This short review will posit the formation of insomnia caused by the presence of anxiety disorders in patients with both insomnia and anxiety symptoms. This review further discusses some therapies that enhance and improve sleep quality among insomnia problems. It mostly debates the thesis that anxiety is the driving factor and precedes insomnia and its related neuropathological developments that can be highlighted from neurotransmitter systems and sleeping models such as the hyperarousal model. Overall, it is significant that individuals with anxiety-related disorders have lower sleeping qualities that cause functional impairment and lower subjective living qualities.

The gold standard for diagnosing left ventricular noncompaction evaluated in this article was compared using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography. To generate results, the paper used systematic data analysis techniques such as article screening, data extraction, meta-analysis, and forest plots. Use data gaps exhibited on forest plots to eliminate untrustworthy data, shown here as major gaps with other data, that should be avoided in follow-up investigations. The value of the aforementioned gold standard for diagnosis is as follows. It was discovered that two figures demonstrated the reliability of cMRI, while the other demonstrated that the echocardiograph was more accurate. Two numbers were eliminated because there was no statistically significant difference, and the data p > 0.05. More data integration is still required.

Dental caries is a disease which is affected by many factors, mainly bacteria, and eventually leads to the dissolution and damage of the hard tissue of the teeth. Dental caries has become one of the most common diseases affecting children worldwide, and it is on the rise, seriously endangering childrens oral, general and mental health. Traditional clinical treatment methods mainly use filler therapy and root canal therapy, but these are invasive and dependent on patients compliance. There are many therapies that are less invasive and more suitable for children being researched and applied clinically. It is worth noting that for caries, early prevention is more important and effective than late treatment. In recent years, the researches on the pathogenesis and influencing factors of dental caries have also made some progress. This review focuses on the causes, treatment and prevention of dental caries in children, in order to promote the updating of research trends on dental caries in children and to help develop an individualized oral health plan for children.

As humans develop, science is also rapidly evolving, and biological science and medical support are vital for humans need. The development of biology has been particularly important. It stretches from the initial understanding of plants and animals to human biology and micro molecular biology, from macro understanding of life to micro molecular biology. Although it has accumulated a lot of knowledge about biology, it still has many unknowns about this giant and precise system. However, in recent years, a new interdisciplinary and emerging discipline has greatly opened up peoples understanding about biological information-bioinformatics. The most fundamental research target of bioinformatics is different sequences. The most important is the amino acid sequence of proteins and the base sequence of DNA. To study sequences and their constituent components, bioinformatics has another major research target - the biological database. This involves analysing the structure, connotation, and function of biological information through basic protein and nucleic acid sequences. Therefore, bioinformatics has made tremendous applications in the medical field. This research mainly analyzes and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the application of bioinformatics in the medical field.
