Abstract Publication patterns of articles in Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development (MECD) from 2000 to 2019 are reviewed. Five-year windows are used to analyze trends in article content (i.e., topic, methods, samples, statistical procedures) and author demographic characteristics (e.g., gender, nation of domicile, names, employment setting).

Abstract We present an initial validation of the State Anxiety Scale for Children (SASC) for Portuguese children and adolescents. No significant differences were found between sexes and among school cycle groups. The data revealed good psychometric properties and the ‘anxiety-absent’ and ‘anxiety-present’ factors were confirmed. Potential applications of the instrument are presented.

Abstract The current study investigated the sensitivity to change of the Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms-34 (CCAPS-34), a multidimensional measure designed to assess the mental health problems common in college students across seven domains. The results suggest that the CCAPS-34 is able to capture change taking place during treatment.

Abstract Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were carried out on the Adolescent Measure of Empathy and Sympathy (AMES) with two subsamples of emerging adults (each n = 799). The analyses resulted in a three-factor solution, accounting for 66.71% of the variance.

A Proposed Definition and Structure of Counselor Dispositions 咨询师性格的定义和结构

Abstract Dispositions have been identified as critical elements of counselor development and competency. Although there is currently no professional agreement regarding the definition or structure of counselor dispositions, the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP 2016) accreditation standards require counselor educators to assess students’ professional dispositions. We endorse the need for a disposition measure that yields reliable and valid scores for use in admissions and gatekeeping processes. We present results of a confirmatory factor analysis of the Professional Dispositions Scale–Counseling Student Version (PDS–CSV), which revealed that counselor dispositions are best understood as a single higher order factor made up of 9 subfactors addressing personal and professional considerations. Based on these findings, we propose a definition of counselor dispositions for consideration by professional colleagues.

Abstract Psychometric properties of measures of hope and meaning in life in Spanish among Latina/o college students were investigated. A confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate structural validity of instruments. Findings provided support for the reliability and validity of scores on the Disposition Hope Scale and Meaning in Life Questionnaire with Latina/o students.

Abstract The current study evaluated the validity and reliability of the SCARED on a Native American child population. Results suggest excellent internal consistency for the total score. The hierarchical model best fit the data. Overall the SCARED is a valid tool for identifying Native American children at-risk for developing anxiety disorders.

Exploring Measurement Comparability of Accommodated Math Tests for Students With Emotional Impairments 情感障碍学生适应性数学测试的测量可比性探讨

Abstract It is critical to examine whether test accommodations function as intended in removing construct-irrelevant variance. The measurement comparability of a math test for students with emotional impairments and those without disabilities was examined. Results indicated the presence of limited differential item functioning (DIF) regardless of accommodation status.

Abstract In this study, different factor analysis models were employed to test the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) in 11 distinct populations (n = 15,266) in different countries. The results strongly suggest that the most appropriate use of the SCS is to measure levels of Self-Compassionate responding (positive items) and Self-Uncompassionate responding (negative items) separately.

Abstract The original and revised versions of the Internalized Homophobia Scale (IHP) were examined for gender invariance. The revised version was found to have a better fit, and passed the test of configural, metric, and scalar invariance. The revised version is recommended as a brief measure of internalized heterosexism.
