Authors´ conclusions: prefusion F protein vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus administered to pregnant women in the last trimester of pregnancy prevents this virus severe respiratory infections in their infants, without important adverse effects. Reviewers´ commentary: The vaccine appears effective and safe, although its efficacy estimates are imprecise. It constitutes an alternative preventive option to the administration of nirsevimab in the newborn, with comparable impact expectations.

Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapid and potentially fatal allergic reaction. The diagnosis of anaphylaxis is clinical and must be early. It appears in the first 2 hours after exposure to the allergen, in the first 30 minutes in food allergy and earlier with intravenous drugs or hymenoptera stings. Cutaneous symptoms are generally the first to appear and are present in most cases, more than 80%. They may be mild or transitory, or absent in 18% of cases. If the cardio-circulatory system is affected, an anaphylactic shock occurs. The most frequent cause in pediatrics is nutrition. There are several cofactors whose presence increases the likelihood of anaphylaxis; the most important are: exercise, medication, fever and stress. The treatment of choice is intramuscular adrenaline. Parents and children should be able to identify the signs and/or symptoms of anaphylaxis in order to implement the treatment prescribed in the written action plan.

The objective of this study arises in the health center from the need to improve the emotional environment, going from a sad, dull and inexpressive waiting room to a welcoming, friendly and educational one. We understand that the waiting room must be part of the global care of the children and their family. We looked for a physical improvement of the the pediatric area in the health center. Painting the walls of the health center may not humanize the space but it makes it friendlier, trying to create a place where art not only brings beauty but is also a health education strategy. During the wait, there won´t be only an attractive and pleasant environment, but also healthy lifestyle habits in a creative way through drawings that will develop stories with teachings about food, hygiene, friendship, etc. Children, teachers, the Zaragoza city council, health center professionals and especially the architect of the work, Leticia García Longás, have been involved in the different phases of the project.

The ingestion of firecrackers poses a potential risk to the patient's life if they contain the toxic component called yellow phosphorus (YFP). Fortunately, this material is not currently used in our country for the manufacture of pyrotechnic products, but this is not the case in other regions of the world such as Asia or Latin America. The ingestion of FA can cause the death of the patient in up to 20-50% of them by toxic accumulation in the organism, producing mainly hepatic failure and consequently multiorgan failure. Firecrackers in Spain contain non-toxic materials for the organism, so their ingestion may cause nausea and abdominal discomfort, but not a lethal risk for the patient.

Failure to thrive is poor physical growth, both in weight and height, in children under three years of age. This underdiagnosed entity can affect children’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Paediatric Primary Care is crucial in early diagnosis and prevention of their morbidity. This document represents a useful tool for the teamwork between paediatricians and paediatric nursing. Its objective is to carry out an early, individualized and efficient approach in these children.

We present a 27-day-old girl with no significant medical history who attended pediatric consultation presenting with edema and hematoma in her right breast. The patient was admitted the next day following examination in ER due to the worsening of a starting breast abscess and was treated with intravenous antibiotic therapy. Due to the worsening of the condition and despite the intravenous antibiotic therapy, a surgical treatment was performed consisting in draining the abscess and washing the cavity. Finally, the problem was solved without any consequences.

Facial palsy poses a wide differential diagnosis in pediatrics, especially when it is accompanied by symptoms that make it doubtful whether Bell's palsy is present. It is essential to perform a correct anamnesis to rule out diagnoses that require early detection and treatment to improve the prognosis. Lyme disease (EL) is one of the possible causes of facial palsy, having been seldom described in children in Spain. We present the case of an 11-years-old male with diagnosis of facial palsy associated with B. burgdorferi infection with favorable evolution after treatment with doxycycline.

Priapism is a prolonged and painful penile erection, which occurs without prior sexual stimulation. There are two main types, high-flow priapism and low-flow priapism. Although on most occasions the underlying cause will be unknown, it may be the first manifestation of serious disease. In the pediatric patient with prolonged erection we must differentiate between recurrent penile erection and the different types of priapism since each entity requires a specific management and implies a different prognosis.

Many affected children never develop symptoms. If it does cause symptoms, they usually don’t appear until late childhood or adolescence.
