The study is devoted to the definition of individual psychological characteristics of propensity to extremism in the context of socio-psychological maladaptation. The attractiveness of the Columbine subculture and extremist movements is associated with the socio-psychological maladaptation of the individual. This actualizes the task of early identification of a risk group for the provision of psychological assistance in order to prevent the radicalization of the individual. Research hypothesis: students with a tendency to extremism have individual psychological characteristics of the personality, indicating the specifics of their socio-psychological maladaptation. We studied 578 students of 1–6 courses of study at universities in Primorsky Krai, Khabarovsk Krai, the Republic of Dagestan and Moscow. The following methods were used: Propensity of extremism detection screening method; R. Cattell’s The Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16 PF), form A; Temperament Feature Accentuation Test (TFAT); The Cook-Medley Hostility Scale (CMHS); A. Ellis' technique for diagnosing irrational attitudes and projective technique “12 archetypes plus” (12A+) by R.V. Kadyrov, T.V. Kapustina. It was found that the specificity of the socio-psychological maladjustment of students prone to extremism is determined by the following individual psychological characteristics: underestimation of one's own capabilities, painful sensitivity to criticism, isolation, alienation, a tendency to subject others to strict evaluation, denying them trust, a low threshold of emotional stability, emotional lability, suspicion and irritability, the desire to act in their own interests, neglecting social norms, rules and standards, as well as a combination of conceit and self-criticism, a combination of low tolerance for frustrating situations with an exaggeration of one's stress resistance. These students show signs of depression: depression, anxiety, a tendency to self-flagellation, immersion in gloomy experiences.

One of the features of the work of the brain of people suffering from schizophrenia is changes in the activity of their brain during visual categorization of animate and inanimate objects. The purpose of this study was to analyze the brain activity of people with schizophrenia and their visual categorization of objects with different semantic and physical characteristics. It was assumed that the patterns of brain activity in individuals with schizophrenia would differ from the group of healthy individuals both in the early and late stages of visual processing. Using the method of visual evoked potentials, we studied the features of brain activity in 25 people suffering from schizophrenia from 1 to 7 years old, when they categorized images of animate and inanimate nature, low and high spatial frequency. It was found that the amplitudes of P170 (N170) in the left and right posterior and central leads, as well as the amplitudes of P300 in the central lead in people with schizophrenia do not differ during categorization of animate and inanimate objects, which does not correspond to the data obtained earlier from the people without mental health abnormalities. The revealed result is important for a better understanding of the restructuring of the brain during visual perception of objects of different categories, which occurs during the development of schizophrenia.

The focus of this article is the reflection of intelligence as ability in social media texts. The authors have developed a model of communicative environments according to which the manifestation of intelligence in a message depends on the communicative situation in which the information is transmitted. Thus, the cognitive complexity of texts is a consequence not only of the author's intellectual capacity, but also of his willingness and ability to adapt the complexity of messages to the characteristics of the recipient. This paper analyses data from individual social media profiles in relation to user intelligence test scores, as well as similar data obtained at a regional level. The study involved 438 subjects who took an intelligence test and provided access to their social media profiles. Facebook users were found to be, on average, more intelligent than VKontakte users, posting more posts containing text, posting less often overall. No significant differences in post characteristics were found between the two social networks. However, differences in the nature of the relationship between intelligence and cognitive complexity of messages were demonstrated for different social networks and for male and female subsamples of users. Correlations were found to be higher at the regional level compared to the individual level, higher for Facebook compared to VKontakte and higher for men compared to women. It is concluded that indicators of texts’ cognitive complexity from social media do reflect the intelligence of their authors, but the extent of this reflection depends on the characteristics of the communicative situation

Social media is a new reality of modern society and represent as a platform of online communication of millions of people. During the discussion reflection of current events is happening, positions of communication’s subjects on topical issues are forming and changing, impact is made. Definition of intentional characteristics of network discourse related to motivational, perceptual-cognitive processes, communicants’ practical activity becomes particularly relevant in this regard. The approach realized in this study is aimed at characterizing the intentional space of social media discourse and identifying discursive markers of Internet users’ actual intentions, suitable for their objective evaluation. 46 messages of various topics and their discussion (1835 comments) on various network resources in 2015–2022 are served as the material for our study. Intent-analysis is used to assess psychological content of speech. This method allows to determine communicators’ intentions associated with current interaction and communicative tactics. 51 categories of intentions are described (4947 realizations). High intensity negative intentions dominate among them regardless of their topics that points to pronounced negative evaluability and potential conflictuality. In addition, social media discourse has clear informational focus due to extensive representation of neutral intentions associated with exchange of opinions, analysis and discussion of the situation. Context specific markers of communicators’ intentions: lexical, semantic, graphic and punctuation are found in it. Some markers are specific to certain intentions; others are realized in actualization of a number of intentions that associated with the variety of expression ways and words’ multiple meanings.

The expansion of the conceptual field of psychology is a necessary reflection of the actions of the “fluid actor” in the “fluid modernity”. The possibility of its expansion is presented in connection with the understanding of the role of the psychologist from the position of “post-non-classical rationality”, which is guided by an abstract-analytical and (or) effectively transformative strategy. When choosing an abstract — analytical strategy, abstractly selected sides of the object are studied, where the parts define the whole, and cognition from the standpoint of “classical rationality” proceeds within the framework of the basic paradigm and its concepts. In this case, new concepts may arise if the study of the phenomenon is carried out transdisciplinary, when the position of V.M. Bekhterev on the extension of the laws that operate in the Universe, in particular the law of rhythm, is accepted. Its manifestation is noted as “rocking”, which can be correlated with the concept of “oscillation” common in physics and technology. The introduction of the concept of “fluctuations” and its manifestations into psychology is promising for describing the mechanisms of intellectual development, fluctuations of motivation, emotions, behavior. The choice of an effective transformative strategy is determined by the need to solve life problems when interacting with an object (another person) as an integral entity, type, individuality. The systemic and hierarchical structure of the conceptual composition is then supplemented by concepts that are formed in a hierarchically built community of like-minded people (at the horizontal level) and are “new cognitive tools”. The transdisciplinary approach makes it possible to use the concept of “consolidation”, which is used in studies of brain activity when the solution of an urgent problem is carried out by instantaneous restructuring of all brain systems in the direction of their “consolidation”. The concept of “mutual cooperation” is promising for the characteristics of a high level of joint actions of a collective actor. A significant expansion of the conceptual field occurs in the consultative and training options for using an effective transformative strategy, when coordination of actions to solve a problem and the transformation of participants into a collective actor is achieved by creating a new language of verbal and nonverbal concepts.

Sensitivity to noise can significantly affect the nature and severity of the psychological and physiological response to sound exposure. The Weinstein Noise Sensitivity Scale (WNSS) is the most widely used questionnaire, but is not available in the Russian version. This study is aimed at assessing the psychometric properties of the Russian version of the PANSS scale. 527 students aged 18 to 25 participated in the survey using Google forms. Factor analysis showed the presence of two factors saturated with points with alternative scaling methods. The Russian version of the WNS scale demonstrated reliability, metric invariance and validity.

The state of the problem of abilities in the modern history of Russian psychological science is discussed. It is argued that despite the recognition by the psychological community of the high functional significance of abilities as a factor of achievement in various types of activity, as a factor in human development, the real productivity of research in the field of the psychology of abilities remains quite low. It is shown that in the recent history of Russian psychology there is a decline in the interest of the scientific community in the development of this problem. This is a consequence of a longer process of low-intensity research of abilities in Soviet psychology. Based on the analysis of publications in leading psychological journals for the period 1991–2022, an attempt has been made to systematize research in the field of psychology of abilities. Two approaches to research analysis were used: methodological analysis (characterization of research by type, subject, method, object), functional analysis (characterization based on the use of abilities as an object of research and as an object of formation). The author substantiates the statement that the decrease in the intensity of research in the field of psychology of abilities is a consequence of the lack of a “working” theory of abilities in psychological science, which allows solving the problems of determining the structure of abilities and their interaction, their development, functioning and formation.

The article discusses a series of studies by employees of the Institute of Psychology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2018–2022), carried out on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Institute and dedicated to assessing the state of the scientific problems they study. Separately, there are considered publications in which the results of the development of basic concepts in the general theory of modern psychology, in its individual branches, in applied psychology are presented. It is argued that the research results presented in the publications are the most important theoretical and methodological cut of the actual problems of modern psychology. In addition, the wide range of studies presented in publications implements the most important function of structuring the conceptual space of modern psychological science. The series of publications prepared by A.L. Zhuravlev and E.A. Sergienko, and devoted to a comprehensive assessment of the conceptual space of research carried out by the staff of the Institute of Psychology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The system-network approach used by the authors to the analysis of the organization of modern concepts of psychology is considered. Its merits are highlighted and debatable questions are raised. It is argued that modern psychological science implements several approaches to the analysis of the conceptual space of psychological research — system-network, scientometric, subject, etc. Their advantages and limitations are highlighted.
