Packaging design is a crucial tool for strengthening product competitiveness among both in-store and online marketing. Companies are paying attention to improving competitiveness by taking advantage of logos, colors, graphics, and appropriate textual messages on packaging, with an aim to raise their market share relative to other competitors. For tourism entrepreneurs, a well-designed package is a crucial part of the marketing strategy. This can help them to stand out in a crowded market, communicate their local product message, and increase the likelihood of tourists’ decisions to buy. The key purpose of this paper is to bridge a research gap in souvenir packaging design literature by investigating the causal relationships between the souvenir package design elements and perceived value, concerning price fairness and willingness to purchase food-related souvenirs. Data were gathered from a total of 402 respondents to investigate the causal relationships through Structural Equation Modeling analysis (SEM). The findings and implications may make valuable contributions for tourism entrepreneurs and souvenir packaging designers, in establishing the purchasing intentions of new and existing customers, and expanding the knowledge of visual package design theory in the souvenir industry.

Palm oil is considered the most consumed edible oil in the world. An estimated 75% of overall palm oil production is destined for export with the total export value amounting to USD 28.2 billion in 2016. Currently, more research is needed to understand the associations between palm oil trade and production, and its environmental, social, and economic development aspects in accordance with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research explores the possible associations between the key SDG indicators and palm oil trade and production. Statistical tools are employed in order to analyze the relationships between the key SDG indicators and palm oil trade and production. Random effects regression models were developed to identify the impacts of key SDG indicators on palm oil trade and production. The results showed that a reduction in the number of undernourished people significantly enhances the growth of palm oil imports, exports and production. An increase in agricultural employment significantly increases palm oil imports, exports, and production. Furthermore, it was found that temperature has a significant negative impact on palm oil trade and production. Recommendations for policy development toward sustainable palm oil trade in moving toward achievement of the SDGs are addressed to ensure a future for the sustainable growth of palm oil trade and production.

In recent years, blockchain technology has gained significant attention and recognition in both academic and practical contexts, due to its remarkable attributes of scalability, security, and sustainability. However, despite the growing interest, there is still a lack of exploration regarding the potential of blockchain to improve data transparency, enhance information security, and facilitate knowledge sharing. To address this gap, this study conducts a focused review of recent studies to examine precisely these aspects of blockchain technology. Various paradigms that highlight how the utilization of blockchain can enhance data transparency, bolster information security, and enable seamless knowledge sharing among organizations, are identified and proposed. These advancements surpass the capabilities of traditional methods of storing and sharing information.

This research article proposes strategic responses for airline businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a documentary method to review published academic journals and grey literature available in the online public domain, documents related to strategic responses from past crises in the airline industry were gathered and examined using content analysis. Well-recognized management consultant publications, and interview clips from airline management were also reviewed to extract lessons learned for formulating strategic responses to the COVID-19 crisis. This study found that government support, technological adoption, passenger-based collaboration, and airline management strategies are keywords underlying airline businesses’ strategic responses to withstand COVID-19. Managerial implications for airline management and industry stakeholders are presented at the end of the article.

The purpose of this study was to conduct an investigation of the Forbes Top 100 digital companies’ Mission statements (MS) and the impact they have on each firm’s performance, as reflected by their rankings. For the purpose of study, the financial performance data of these companies has been taken from the 2019 Forbes list of Top 100 Digital Companies. The mission statements of these companies have been collected from their respective corporate websites, company documents, and their official social media handles. A positive correlation was observed between number of stakeholders covered through the MS and the firm’s return on assets. Digital companies that mentioned ‘employees’ in their MS have performed significantly better than other firms. Additionally, digital firms which showed ‘concern for societal benefits’ through their MS also performed better. This research underlines the importance of incorporating words such as ‘employees’ as well as having ‘societal orientations’ while designing the MS in digital organizations.

The study aims to measure tourists’ responsible behavior, and to develop a structural equation model of responsible tourist behavior among Thai tourists. A questionnaire survey was conducted using an online questionnaire. A total of 503 Thai domestic tourists who practiced responsible behavior participated in the study. The data were analyzed through structural equation modeling with a two-stage approach. The results of the analysis revealed a good fit with the empirical data (CMIN/DF = 2.62, RMSEA = 0.06, CFI = 0.94, TLI = 0.92). Moreover, the findings highlight two underlying factors which emerged for responsible behavior, namely impact consideration and local connections. The establishment of an extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model with two additional predictors including environmental and social concern, and pro-environmental behavior in everyday life, explains the formation of tourists’ responsible behavior. Destination managers and marketers can encourage tourists’ responsible behavior by implementing meaningful experiences with various low-impact tourism activities. Relevant government agencies and policy makers can promote responsible campaigns and events to enhance responsible behavior.

Blockchain technology and the circular economy are two distinct concepts, which together can serve the economy and businesses in a better way. This research focused on exploring the relationship between blockchain technology and circular economy components from the production aspect to increase organizational performance in Pakistan. The 302 observations were collected from Pakistani companies of different nature of work. A purposive sampling method and closed-question questionnaire were adopted for the collection of data. The PLS-SEM (4.0) method was utilized for analysis purposes. The results point toward blockchain technology’s positive effects on circular economy practices. Overall, blockchain technology shows an affirmative impact on green design (GD), green manufacturing (GM), and recycling and remanufacturing (RR) in Pakistan. However, the association between recycling and remanufacturing, environmental performance, and economic performance was not supported. It can be concluded that adopting the practices of the circular economy can significantly improve business operations in terms of financial and environmental performance. It is recommended that businesses should incorporate blockchain technology along with the practices of circular economy in manufacturing systems for achieving long-term goals.

This study focused on supporting the officers of Wang Nam Khiao – Khao Phu Luang forest reserve and the local community with ecotourism management training using a six-day short-course based on the Experiential Learning Theory (ELT). As part of the need for assessment and training topics, 173 forest reserve officers, representatives of government authorities, and members of the local community, completed surveys consisting of five-point Likert-type scale items. The short-course training program was developed and implemented in the Wang Nam Khiao – Khao Phu Luang forest reserve. There were 46 attendees who participated in the short course program held in 2017; these included officers, local community leaders, and representatives. Pre- and post-tests were conducted before and after each training session. A one-way ANOVA was conducted to compare the pre- and post-test scores of the trainees and the ecotourism readiness in the Wang Nam Khiao - Pha Khao Phu Luang forest reserve among three groups of attendees. The results of the study showed that the training helped to form wider collaboration between locals and national park rangers, assisting in ecotourism management and natural resource management in the forest reserve.
