Purpose: This paper sought to examine the multifaceted term refugee entrepreneurship from a global level, to a more focused view of the Kenyan context. As such, the authors of this paper examined the general understanding of refugee entrepreneurship in Kenya, assessed the effect of talent displacement with regards to refugee entrepreneurship in Kenya and analyzed the effect of integration and social economic inclusion in relation to refugee entrepreneurship in Kenya.
Design/methodology/approach: The paper utilized qualitative research where available secondary data on refugee entrepreneurship was analyzed.
Findings: The study found that there appeared to be no clear-cut understanding of refugee entrepreneurship in the Kenyan context, no systematic approach to tackle talent displacement with regards to refugee entrepreneurship in Kenya, and there continued to be barriers to full integration and social economic inclusion with regards to refugee entrepreneurship in Kenya.
Research limitations/implications: This study also noted that there is no current global solution to the issue of the ever-increasing number of internally displaced persons, asylum seekers or refugees. On the contrary, the year 2022 has seen an increase in civil strife around the world including; the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Tigray-Ethiopia war and the more than 20-year-old ongoing conflicts in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Other conflicts of concern on the African continent include; South Sudan, Somalia, Mozambique and other West African nations, while Libya and other North African states have suffered similar civil strife. Despite these ongoing challenges, this study established that there are significant socio-economic contributions of refugee entrepreneurship to host communities.
Practical implications: Consequently, the study recommended a more in-depth understanding of refugee entrepreneurship in the context of Kenya, nurture refugee talents and skills while enacting and enabling policies that foster integration and social economic inclusion with regards to refugee entrepreneurship in Kenya. The Government and people of Kenya stand to reap the benefits of refugee entrepreneurship, which in turn reduced refugee talent displacement and continued government handouts that have promoted dependency, rather than self-reliance. Refugee entrepreneurship, if well cultivated, is an avenue for adding to Kenya’s bread basket through taxation, employment and investment.

Purpose: Delays are common in construction projects. The term "project delay" refers to a project's completion date later than anticipated. Lack of performance by contractors or project managers in resolving issues can result in project delays. The factors that cause project delays must be considered to reduce delays. This study aims to examine the elements contributing to Batam island’s pile foundation construction delays. Findings: The factor of delays is an important key of the analysis to prevent delays in future projects Design/methodology/approach: This research uses a case study at Batam Island. The analysis is done with SPSS 26 program. Research limitations/implications: Analysis of delay caused by pile foundation in Batam island. Practical implications: Analysis of the delay caused by a project according to the result of the questionnaire. Originality/value: Original Paper Paper type: A Case Study

Purpose: This paper examines the effect of the globalization phenomenon and its impact on the dynamic development of entrepreneurship based on changing economic, cultural, and business environments both within and between nations. Design/methodology/approach: The authors use theoretical perspectives and analyze literature reviews to identify the effect of the relationship that exists between globalization and entrepreneurship, which plays a variety of important roles in the business world. Findings: The findings of the study show that while there is a significant statistical difference between U.S. and international entrepreneurs regarding the importance of cross-cultural considerations, there are no statistical differences regarding the importance of global entrepreneurial innovation, business environment, and the effect of globalization on the economy. Research limitations/implications: The paper presents a critical analysis of the impact of globalization on entrepreneurs in the U.S. and internationally. Practical implications: The authors investigate the characteristics necessary for entrepreneurs to be successful, such as skills, knowledge, experience, and the abilities needed to apply technology and innovation, and they navigate complex cultural differences that may exist between business members and stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds. Purpose: This study aims to examine the role of good corporate governance (board of directors and board of commissioners) in mediating the bond between intellectual capital and financial performance. Design/methodology/approach: This study obtains data from 264 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2015 – 2020 period. This study employs the Warp PLS 7.0 program. The tested research model is the multiple mediator model, with more than one mediating variables, so it requires multiple mediation analysis. Findings: The results reveal that intellectual capital has no effect on financial performance. Intellectual capital has a significant negative effect on the board of directors and board of commissioners, while the board of directors and board of commissioners have a significant positive effect on financial performance. Practical implications: Intellectual capital affects financial performance through the board of directors and board of commissioners’ as the mediating variables supported by the category of competitive mediation (inconsistent mediation). This competitive mediation provides support for the mediating effect hypothesis. Paper type: Research paper

Purpose: This study aims to identify the factors influencing product innovation that will form a sustainable competitive advantage that will affect marketing performance. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses four hypotheses that are tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS 18 software. For 101 respondents. Findings: The results of this study indicate that: a) Product Innovation (X) has a significant effect on competitive advantage (Z). b) Product Innovation (X) has a significant effect on Marketing Performance (Y). c) Sustainable Competitive Advantage (Z) has a significant effect on Marketing Performance (Y) d) Product Innovation (X) has a significant effect on Marketing Performance (Y) through Sustainable Competitive Advantage (Y) and SEM data processing for the full model has met the following fit criteria, chi-square = 36.7; probability = 0.000; GFI = 0.72; AGFI = 0.653; CFI = 0.36; TLI = 0.276; RMSEA = 0.109; CMIN/DF = 2.18. As a result, greater product innovation will affect marketing performance and further build a sustainable competitive advantage. Practical implications: Based on the research, it can be concluded that Android-based accounting learning media has fulfilled the requirements for validity, practicality and has a good potential effect on student learning activities and outcomes. So that Android-based accounting learning media can be used as an alternative teacher in teaching accounting material for adjusting journal entries. Paper type: Research paper

Purpose: PT. PAL Indonesia is a shipping industry that applies advanced technology in its operational processes. This factory is one of the best factories in Indonesia and in the Southeast Asia region. The company conducts an ongoing evaluation due to the fact that there have been delays in design & planning in the last five years. This evaluation is to find solutions to problems that occur, where the performance of employees (ship building project team) is the main concern of the Director. Design/methodology/approach: This research identifies the influence of these factors on the performance of employees (ship construction project team) of PT. PAL Indonesia. The method used is a quantitative approach where data is obtained by distributing questionnaires online to PT. PAL Indonesia. This study involved 91 respondents from employees involved in ship building projects. Then analyzed using SEM – PLS 3.3 (Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Square). Findings: Based on the results of the literature review, there are many factors that influence employee performance, some of which include leadership style, organizational commitment, work stress & job satisfaction. Based on the results of the SEM analysis, only 2 variables were obtained that affect the performance of the project team at PT. PAL Indonesia.
