Background: The purpose of the study was to analyze the meanings attributed by a group of young adults to the experience of recording inscriptions in their bodies. Method: The qualitative method with narrative design was implemented. The technique to collect the information is a free interview. He selected four participants (two women and two men) through a sample intentional. The interviews were recorded on audio and transcribed literally for later analysis. An inductive categorization was carried out. The analysis implemented allowed identifying individual factors and also establishing similarities and differences among participants. Results: The findings show that: This group of young people perform the corporal inscriptions taking as reference significant life and family experiences. Conclusion: It is concluded that the tattoo is a narrative expression that determines ownership over the body and the possibility of being understood and socially validated. The choice of the body part, design and extension; they depend on the importance of what they want to represent.

Introduccion: La fusion cognitiva es un concepto central dentro de la terapia de aceptacion y compromiso. El Cuestionario de Fusion Cognitiva (CFQ) fue desarrollado como una medida unidimensional que superaria las limitaciones de las propuestas previas. Metodo: El presente estudio analizo la estructura factorial del CFQ en universitarios peruanos ( n = 450, 53 % mujeres). Tambien examino si dicha estructura era invariante entre varones y mujeres. Resultados: Los datos apoyaron la unidimensionalidad hipotetizada, asi como la invarianza estricta. Con base en esto, el objetivo del presente trabajo consistio en evaluar los efectos de distintos niveles de dominio en una tarea aritmetica (alto y bajo) sobre la eleccion ayudar/ no ayudar a un companero a realizar operaciones aritmeticas. La tarea consistia en realizar distintos tipos de operaciones aritmeticas (sumas, restas, multiplicaciones y divisiones) para obtener puntos. Una vez que acumulaban 20 puntos, se le presentaba a los participantes la opcion de elegir entre ayudar a un companero a resolver operaciones o continuar con su tarea. Los resultados muestran que los participantes con dominio aritmetico alto eligieron ayudar a su companero con mayor frecuencia que los participantes con dominio aritmetico bajo (40% vs 23%, respectivamente). Based on this, the objective of this work consisted of evaluating the effects of different levels of domain in an arithmetic task (high and low) on the choice of helping / not helping a partner to perform arithmetic operations. The task was to perform different types of arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to obtain points. Once they accumulated 20 points, participants were presented with the option to choose between helping a partner to solve operations or continue with their task. The results show that participants with high arithmetic domain chose to help their partner more frequently than the participants with low arithmetic domain (40% vs. 23%, respectively). The importance of the task domain level as a dispositional factor in the choice between helping or not helping is discussed.

The aim of this study was to value the prevalence of burnout syndrome in caregivers of patients with disabilities from Arequipa City. The sample was conformed by 45 caregivers (91.42% female and 8.8% male) with and average age of 30.26 years old. We applied the Burnout Maslach Inventory, which has 22 items and three dimensions: exhaustion, cynicism and inefficacy. Its reliability is adequate for health personnel like this case (α= 0.721). The caregivers of patients with disability are women and relatives of the people who are under their responsibility. They also have high levels of exhaustion and inefficacy. Around 97.6% of people sampled have moderate levels of burnout syndrome. Moreover, women present major levels of cynicism than men, and while family caregivers have mayor levels of exhaustion, professional caregivers reach severe levels of inefficacy. We conclude that caregivers of people with disabilities have high risk of having burnout syndrome, which is characterized by severe levels of exhaustion and inefficacy.

El apoyo social se percibe como la informacion proveniente del medio que permite a una persona sentirse querida, estimada y sostenida. El objetivo de este estudio fue comparar si existen diferencias significativas entre hombres y mujeres en el nivel de apoyo social percibido por parte de la familia, amigos y otras redes de apoyo significativas. Se realizo un estudio cuantitativo de tipo transversal. Se utilizo la Escala Multidimensional de Soporte Social Percibido (MSPSS) , mide las percepciones de apoyo de tres fuentes principales: familia, amigo y otros significativos, obtuvo un coeficiente alfa ordinal de ω=.934. Se utilizo un muestreo intencional, participaron 396 adultos mayores (M edad = 69.81, DE= 6.95), 56.3% era mujeres y 43.8% hombres. Se encontraron diferencias significativas en las tres dimensiones del apoyo social en el adulto mayor, con un tamano del efecto menor a una desviacion estandar. Las mujeres adultas mayores presentan mejor percepcion de apoyo social lo que contribuye a su bienestar. El papel que juegan las personas que rodean al adulto mayor es significativo para el y es mas importante la calidad de la relacion existente, la familia se convierte en esa red de apoyo cercana en donde el adulto mayor se siente protegido y querido.

The test measured beliefs about the importance attributed to mathematics for career progress and future professional development. The 939 Psychology students (81% female) who participated responded to the items using 3, 5 and 6 categories. The effect of the order of exposure of individuals to each format was controlled and other tests were also included to reduce answer memorization. Likert scales with more categories increased test reliability at the extreme levels of the trait, but at the expense of compromising the internal structure validity evidences (Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Partial Credit Model of the Item Response Theory). The relative efficiency function revealed that similar information is obtained for all levels of the trait when using 5 or 6-point scales. The number of Likert categories did not substantially affect the relationship between usefulness and other variables.

La espiritualidad se define como la capacidad multidimensional de busqueda de sentido y conexion en las relaciones con uno mismo, con las demas personas, con la naturaleza o lo sagrado. El objetivo de este estudio fue examinar la fiabilidad y la estructura factorial de la version revisada de la Escala de Espiritualidad Personal (EEP-R) en adultos puertorriquenos. Un total de 577 puertorriquenos participaron en este estudio de caracter confirmatorio y psicometrico. Los resultados confirmaron que la escala posee una estructura multidimensional. Estas dimensiones son Conexion Intrapersonal, Conexion Interpersonal y Conexion Transpersonal. Los doce items de la escala cumplieron con los criterios de discriminacion y los indices de confiabilidad obtenidos para la escala fluctuaron entre .81 y .95. El objetivo de este estudio fue examinar la fiabilidad y la estructura factorial de la version revisada de la Escala de Espiritualidad Personal (EEP-R) en adultos puertorriquenos. Un total de 577 puertorriquenos participaron en este estudio de caracter confirmatorio y psicometrico. Los resultados confirmaron que la escala posee una estructura multidimensional. Estas dimensiones son Conexion Intrapersonal, Conexion Interpersonal y Conexion Transpersonal. Los doce items de la escala cumplieron con los criterios de discriminacion y los indices de confiabilidad obtenidos para la escala fluctuaron entre .81 y .95. Currently, not much has been written about the empirical psychological well-being of the atheist community in Puerto Rico and Latin America. The objective of the present study is to analyze if there are statistically significant differences in the levels of life satisfaction and psychological flourishing between believers in God and self-identified atheists. For this purpose, a sample of 821 participants (415 believers and 406 atheists) ranging from the ages of 19 to 85 years was selected. The results show that there is a slight average difference regarding life satisfaction and psychological flourishing between these groups; however, the difference is not substantial enough to ensure that believers in God or atheists have a better quality of life. Both believers and atheists exhibit high levels of life satisfaction and psychological flourishing. This study provides empirical evidence to demystify certain traditional assumptions about the supremacy of religious beliefs over secular convictions or vice versa. We hope that these findings create social awareness and could be used as a basis for future research concerning the population of non-believers.
