Sustainable development represents the optimal development option which proposes a harmonization of goals covering economic, social, and environmental aspects. The research aims at identifying students' level of knowledge of the concept of sustainable development, of the 17 goals as part of this type of development, and their interest in building a career in the field of sustainable development. The results of the research show that students are familiar with the 17 goals of sustainable development, the main sources of information about sustainable development and SDGs as subjects studied at the University and on the Internet; moreover, many of them want to build a career in the field of sustainable development.

This article aims to provide a more comprehensive analysis of the investor’s behaviour. To do so, we first address the concept of individual behaviour which lacks a rigorous, precise definition that would be unanimously accepted. The multidimensional nature and complexity of human behaviour are approached from both a psychological and a financial point of view, by examining its relationship with the genetic structure, the psychic structure and the social environment. Secondly, we investigate the concepts of homo economicus and homo sapiens related to the traditional economic models, and to the behavioural finances approach, respectively, highlighting the “normality” of the investors, who cannot be limited to mathematical policy models. At the same time, we stress the importance of the evolution of homo economicus along with the constantly developing environment and the new challenges and changes faced by the financial markets.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on many industries and sectors around the world. Education was no exception, having suffered a lot during this period. The changes in the Romanian education system have affected all environmental participants/ stakeholders in this field: students, teachers, businesses, public authorities, and the government. Perhaps one of the most provocative changes during the emergency was the shift to online education, which affected all students and teachers around the world. The purpose of the research is to perform an analysis of the problems and challenges in Romanian higher education.

Many representative innovative companies adopt electrification strategies taking into account both, - the constraints imposed by climate change with a direct impact on the economy and society -, and the consolidation of a competitive position. The changes that occur in the technological domain have a great influence on electrification strategies, therefore, companies adopt plans to increase competitiveness through product quality, to ensure a balanced business portfolio. Strong demand boosts R&D activities, in the sense that it guides them precisely and polarizes them on innovations achievement, imperiously required to satisfy the demand. Starting from this premise, we will try to highlight the importance of electrification strategies, in the context of climate change and the contribution of R&D activities to the creation of the necessary conditions for the successful implementation of these strategies.

The paper presents some aspects of indicators related to the standard of living in the European Union in general. The indicators taken into consideration were government deficit/surplus, debt, and associated data, percentage of gross domestic product, harmonized indices of consumer prices, annual average index, harmonized indices consumer prices-monthly data, annual rate of change, and food price monitoring tool. The results showed an increase in government deficit in almost all European Union countries as well as an increase in the inflation rate, especially for commodity products like food.

For both Romanians and foreigners, rural tourism in Romania is attractive. Although the literature provides information on strategies and measures that have been taken in the tourism industry to improve the quality of products and processes, the authors did not find studies on quality strategies and sustainability measures implemented in the rural tourism sector in Romania in the last period, which was severely affected by the pandemic. In order to highlight these strategies and the way in which their implementation is perceived by consumers, the authors conducted exploratory research and quantitative research. The results of the research showed that Romanians do not know the significance of quality strategies and sustainability practices, but appreciate the effects of their implementation by tourism units’ administrators.

This paper aims to analyze the extent to which European Union (EU) member states succeed in diminishing income disparities using their quality of governance in the context of rising income inequality. By using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) nonparametric method, the link between each country's efforts regarding their governance quality and the impact of these efforts on countering growing inequality was uncovered. The data used in this study were collected for the year 2020, for all 27 member states of the European Union. The main findings point out that, on average, EU countries are relatively inefficient, with only three countries achieving high levels of government performance, whose financial policies are reflected in reducing income inequalities, namely: Luxembourg, Cyprus, and Bulgaria. Furthermore, it was concluded that EU veteran states are relatively more effective than those that joined after 2004 in terms of eliminating income disparities through effective governance.

Getting young people and adults who have not completed compulsory education back into school is one of the current challenges facing most schools in disadvantaged areas. In this study, we aim to analyze the extent to which a complementary educational support program represents a viable solution to this major problem. To this end, marketing research was carried out based on the case study, which monitored the impact of the program on the 41 young and adult participants. Research results reveal a positive impact of the program with significant progress being recorded by the participants on all the variables analyzed.

Because, today, the phenomenon of money laundering and terrorist financing has escalated, the European Union and, more recently, Romania, are looking to identify the most effective measures to counter this worrying phenomenon at the international level, which risks making the financial system vulnerable. Because accounting professionals must act in the public interest, the issue of money laundering must become a priority for accounting experts and financial auditors. In Romania, in recent years, there has been some progress in the fight against money laundering, but the effort to limit this phenomenon must be intensified in the next period, starting with the legislative changes imposed by the EU.

In the context of the transition to a circular economy, businesses for sustainable development are one of the main contributors which reduce CO2 emissions. The aim of this paper is to analyze some local sustainable businesses from Romania which encourage consumers to adopt a new model of consumption. These sustainable businesses are part of the food and construction industries, two important polluting industries in the world. The study is based on secondary data analysis and its objectives are to highlight the impact of the foundation of these sustainable businesses in that local area and present how other businesses from these industries could become sustainable.
