The following considerations are concerned with the question, what conception of autonomy for common morally relevant scenarios of social work is applicable as well as philosophically well founded. In order to answer this question I will focus on the thought to connect autonomy closely with the duty to obtain informed consent of clients to steps of the intervention. Subsequently, I will determine in how far this connection can be adequate for the moral praxis of social work. Thema dieses Essays sind Fragen nach dem Verhaltnis theoriegeleiteter empirischer Forschung (z. Ziel des Beitrags ist es, am Beispiel von aktuellen bildungstheoretischen Debatten uber den normativen Gehalt des Bildungsbegriffs Moglichkeiten des Umgangs mit einigen der zentralen methodologischen Herausforderungen einer sozialwissenschaftlich informierten und anwendungsorientierten Ethik zu skizzieren. Dabei wird nicht beansprucht, die entsprechenden Fragen abschliesend zu klaren, sondern es werden am Beispiel von Problemvorgaben einer Ethik der Bildung Wege und Perspektiven der Argumentation und Analyse sondiert, die bis dato insbesondere in der deutschsprachigen Erziehungs- und Bildungsphilosophie eher unterreprasentiert sind. Zu diesem Zweck werde ich zunachst grundsatzliche Fragen zur Ein- und Abgrenzung der Zustandigkeit, des Anwendungsbereichs und der Aufgaben Padagogischer Ethik diskutieren, um sodann in kritischer Absicht aktuelle Probleme mit ethischen Positionierungen im Rahmen erziehungsund bildungswissenschaftlicher Forschung darzulegen. Darauf aufbauend werde ich am Beispiel der Kontroverse uber die normativen Grundlagen von Kollers transformatorischer Bildungstheorie methodologische Probleme einer Ethik der Bildung analysieren, die sich auf das Verhaltnis von (bildungs-)theoretischer Konzeptualisierung und der empirischen Rekonstruktion von Einzelfallen und ihrer ethischen Bewertung beziehen. Based on an analysis of contemporary debates about the normative implications of the concept of Bildung, the contribution outlines possible ways of coping with some of the central methodological challenges of an empirically informed approach to applied educational ethics. My claim is not to resolve these challenges and problems conclusively, but to point to theoretical perspectives and arguments, which are rather neglected in contemporary German-speaking philosophy of education. To that end, I am going to discuss basic questions concerning the specific scope and the tasks of the ethics of education.
