El artículo parte de un interés comparativo acerca de las concepciones de lo divino, con referencia a los autores Lisímaco Chavarría y Jorge Luis Borges, cuyos textos literarios convergen con ideas comunes, y una de ellas origina esta propuesta de trabajo: Dios como fuente de lo trascendente. Esto conduce a la necesaria reflexión teórica sobre lo multiverso, con las múltiples facetas de la existencia divina. La muestra de textos literarios está compuesta por poemas, cuentos y ensayos, los cuales serán analizados a partir de aportes teóricos hermenéuticos, teológicos y literarios. En el desarrollo se presentará a Dios con distintos rostros y manifestado a través de la naturaleza, lo femenino, el aleph…, y así llega a tan diversas mentes. Pero vale acotar que en los textos seleccionados predomina un Dios de la tradición judeo cristiana con algunas referencias a divinidades egipcias, mayas, incas y nórdicas.

A través del método BAPNE se propone una nueva estrategia didáctica para el aprendizaje del lenguaje musical denominada “Solfeo Cognitivo” basado en el aprendizaje vivencial, grupal e inclusivo. El estudio y análisis de una gran parte de los tratados de lenguaje musical nos llevan a un rechazo didáctico muy común, tanto por parte del alumnado que lo aprende, como del profesorado que lo imparte. Modelos didácticos obsoletos basados en recursos racionales y matemáticos les aportan una gran apatía a los alumnos en las primeras sesiones de música. En este artículo se expone una estructura secuencial didáctica articulada a través de un aula especial de neuromotricidad denominada el “Jardín del Baobab”, creada expresamente para la interiorización de los primeros pasos del aprendizaje del pulso, metro, notas musicales y entonación.

To increase the innovation during the teaching process, Flipped Classroom strategy was used, for the first time, in two Marketing courses at the Hispanoamerican University of Costa Rica. The main goal of the study was to analyze the students perceptions about this strategy in the third Marketing Seminar. The research considered four main aspects: the teacher’s role, the quality of the new knowledge, the freedom of expression during class, and the level of students’ enjoyment. The perceptions linked to the evaluation process were also taken into consideration for the analysis. This study was quantitative and non-experimental. A questionnaire was used as the main instrument for gathering data. The overall perception of the strategy was positive: it was considered that it increased the learning process, aided concept memorization and understanding, and increased the enjoyment during class.

This study proposes an innovative approach for English professors who lack the time to engage in professional development (PD) programs, believe such programs are conducted in a decontextualized manner, or regard them as too expensive. Based on a qualitative case study performed from January to September 2018, this study addresses the following question: How can team teaching promote PD for mid-career English as a foreign language university professors? It investigates the types of PD that emerged when two English professors at the University of Costa Rica engaged in synergistic team teaching. The participants team taught a course for students newly admitted into the English-teaching major. In this study, synergistic team teaching is understood as a method in which two professors share classroom space and teaching practices and engage in planning discussions together. To understand what the participants learned when practicing team teaching, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and coded following Creswell and Poth’s (2018) data analysis spiral. The coding was developed in light of the conceptualization of PD 1 Magíster en la Enseñanza del Inglés como Lengua Extranjera por la Universidad de Costa Rica, Costa Rica. This study shows how team teaching offers professors a community of practice in which they can share, discuss, and implement new teaching knowledge. Through team teaching, teachers receive PD benefits that match their classroom context perfectly, enabling them to engage in authentic, fully contextualized learning opportunities.

The current paper is a systematization of EFL experiences around the teaching of suprasegmentals courses from a register-based perspective. Simply put, the proposal is based on the notion that prosodic elements must be taught from a communicative perspective, where speech acts are adjusted to specific communicative situations considering the formality level required (casual, informal, formal, or fixed). To a large degree, the approach derives from the authors’ empirical evidence gained while teaching suprasegmentals at Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica (UNA) and Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) over the course of four years.

América Latina se ha convertido en una de las regiones más urbanizadas del planeta, lo cual se refleja en todos los niveles de la jerarquía del sistema urbano, desde las áreas metropolitanas de los diferentes países, aglomeraciones urbanas, ciudades intermedias, secundarias y terciarias. Dado lo anterior, surge el interés por determinar la dinámica de la cobertura urbana en el casco central y la periferia del distrito de San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica, en el período comprendido entre 1991 y 2018. Mediante el procesamiento de información geoespacial, propiamente imágenes satelitales Landsat 5, ASTER y Sentinel 2a de los años 1991,2001, 2011 y 2018, se lograron determinar las hectáreas de cobertura urbana y de suelo urbano. Mediante el cálculo de la Tasa de Cambio Anual (TCA) se especificaron las ganancias y pérdidas de cada cobertura en el período analizado y la Tasa de Crecimiento Urbano (TCU) permitió identificar el crecimiento de la mancha urbana entre períodos. Los resultados revelan que entre el año 1991 y 2001 se dio el mayor aumento de la cobertura urbana en 54,80%, entre 2001 y 2011 el desarrollo fue de un 21,68% y entre 2011 y 2018 de un 49,43%. La Tasa de Crecimiento Anual muestra que en todos los períodos hay ganancia de cobertura urbanay pérdida de suelo urbano, siendo el período 2011-2018 donde se presenta la mayor tasa de ganancia (5,15%). El estudio permite concluir que el proceso de urbanización tiende a aumentar, según el período estudiado, lo cual concuerda con la dinámica de otras ciudades del país.

This article brings together mentions and representations of the personification of Death in literature and the visual arts from Homer to the beginning of the Hellenistic era. It focuses on Homer’s Iliad, Hesiod’s Theogony, tragedy and the famous crater painted by Euphronios, which represents the moment when Death and Sleep, in the presence of Hermes, raise Sarpedon’s corpse from the ground to transport it to his native land. The article argues that the scene of the mythical transfer of Sarpedon’s body by Death and Sleep was reinterpreted as the repatriation of the body of any Athenian citizen who had died abroad in fight for the homeland, which the law mentioned by Thucydides in his History of the Peloponnesian War imposed.

Particularly in Costa Rica, few researchs have done in the urban environment with this group of animals. Then, this is a first effort to generate baseline data in the periphery of San Ramón city, Alajuela; at micro-basin of El Estero. Different sampling methods, as transects and leaf litter quadrants, were used. Also, species seen at occasional encounters were registered. A total of 19 species in 14 families, 8 of reptiles and 6 of amphibians, were found after 120 hours/person effort. Most of them were recorded during the samplings (63 %, n=12); only one species, Incilius coccifer toad, was registered in both, the samplings and occasional encounters. Six species are associated with water bodies and they are known to tolerate moderate contamination, so its permanence in the area is not surprising. Bosque Demostrativo at Sede de Occidente was the site of greatest species richness, because it is the place with the greatest microhabitats variety for the herpetofauna of the area. El largometraje Imágina (2010), de Adrián Cordero y Roberto Peralta, ejemplifica una operación de escritura transmediática que ha sido poco explorada por los creadores costarricenses: esa que traslada las formas y los contenidos de un espectáculo de danza, concebido para la escena, a una entidad audiovisual cuyas temporalidad y espacialidad son pensadas para la pantalla. El videodanza de Cordero y Peralta “transpone” tres coreografías de Rogelio López: Prohibido adentrarse en el bosque, Cuerpos de la barra y Homenaje a María Cristina (2007-2010). Esta operación de transposición contó con la participación del mismo coreógrafo, así como de las bailarinas y bailarines del grupo Danza abierta, quienes hicieron parte de la versión escénica de las creaciones. Con el texto audiovisual como punto de partida, este artículo examina la escritura transmediática que lo hizo posible; es decir, una operación de transposición constituida por el encuentro y diálogo de dos medios artísticos con sus materiales, códigos, convenciones y potencialidades particulares. El examen llama la atención sobre los intercambios y las tensiones que emergen de la concurrencia de profesionales de dos disciplinas distintas. Se reconoce finalmente en Imágina la productividad de esta diferencia mediática y disciplinar.
