Records of nine Pediciidae and 80 Limoniidae species (10 Limnophilinae, 38 Chioneinae, and 32 Limoniinae) are presented. Seventeen species are recorded for the first time from Azerbaijan and 14 from Georgia, of which 12 species are new to the whole of Transcaucasia. Three species are recorded for the first time since their original descriptions. Four subspecies of the genus Molophilus Curtis, 1833 are elevated to species rank, namely M. (M.) hebetatus Savchenko, 1976, n. stat., M. (M.) decoloratus Savchenko, 1978, n. stat., M. (M.) brachyurus Savchenko, 1978, n. stat., and M. (M.) cephaliger Savchenko, 1978, n. stat. Two synonymies are proposed, Gonomyia (Gonomyia) conoviensis Barnes, 1924 = G. (G.) oxybeles Alexander, 1975, n. syn. and Lipsothrix nobilis Loew, 1873 = L. iranica Alexander, 1975, n. syn.

: The authors discuss the dragonfly fauna of Lublin based on fragmentary historical data and the results of their own research from the period 1992-2019. A total of 54 dragonfly species were recorded: 17 in the historical period and 53 contemporarily. Although the Lublin area is a hot spot of odonate species richness in both the Lublin Upland and central and eastern Poland, it is of little importance for habitat specialists and also endangered and protected species. The species composition of the fauna was analysed in three zones of the city: the outskirts, the urbanized area and the City Centre. The diversity and numbers of dragonflies decreased significantly along this urbanization gradient and some groups of stenotopic species disappeared. The importance of anthropogenic water bodies in maintaining the diversity of dragonflies in urban areas, in particular stormwater ponds and garden ponds, is emphasized.

Saissetia coffeae (Walker, 1852) is a serious insect pest on olive and fig trees in the PalestinianTerritories, it sucks the sap of infested trees and secretes honey dew which interferes with photosynthesisby attracting the sooty mold fungus. The objectives of present research were: firstly, to identify and describeof an indigenous parasitoid on S. coffeae infesting olive and fig trees in the Palestinian Territories; andsecondly, to assess the parasitoid’s efficacy against S. coffeae on olive and fig trees. Results indicated thatthe parasitoid was identified as Coccophagus rusti Compere, 1928 (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) anda detailed description of the parasitoid was provided in this respect. The parasitism rate of the parasitoid onS. coffeae varied significantly with the altitude of sampled localities, it ranged from 14.84 – 64.92% at 635and 82 m above sea level, respectively, on fig trees, and from 12.68 – 47.25% at 635 and 82 m above sealevel, respectively, on olive trees. The overall average rate of parasitism was 42.10% and 29.75% on fig andolive trees, respectively. In conclusion, the high rate of parasitism on S. coffeae makes the parasitoid aspotential biocontrol agent of the insect on olive and fig trees.

Dytiscus latissimus was recorded in a deep drainage ditch at the edge of the Bagno Bubnów fen in the Poleski National Park. Eight dead individuals (4♀♀ and 4 ♂♂) were found on 11.04.2019 in a poaching net for fish in which an otter Lutra lutra (Linnaeus, 1759) was caught and died. The remains of another three individuals (2♀♀ and 1♂) were found on the shore at the same site on 17.04.2020. This data is discussed on the background of data on the geographical distribution and habitat preferences of this species. The new record confirms the existence of a small island of its occurrence area in Central and Eastern Poland, the only one in the country outside the young glacial lake districts in the north-western and northern part of Poland. The new record also suggests that the habitat spectrum of the species may be at least locally wider than it is recognized – which is worth considering when looking for its potential sites.

Cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduval, 1833), is one of the most dangerous pests in Egypt, causing economically significant losses of different crops. The present study was aimed to evaluate toxicological, biological and biochemical effects of two nanocomposites, Silver (Ag) and graphene oxide (GO) nanomaterials over magnesium chlorophillin (Mg-Chl/Ag and Mg-Chl/GO) at three concentrations (1, 10, 100 ml/L) against 2 instar larvae of S. littoralis. The results showed that larval mortality rate was positively correlated with the increase of concentrations of the tested nanocomposites and time after exposure. The mortality rate in nanographene oxide composite were higher than nano silver. LC50 (lethal concentration of 50% of a group of test larvae) values were 10.27 and 16.14 mg/L at Mg-Chl/Ag and Mg-Chl/GO compound at 2 h exposure to light. Some biological aspects of S. littoralis resulted from the treated 2 instars larvae with two nanocomposites were recorded. Larval, pupal durations, pupation, adult emergence rate and pupal weight were significantly lower in all concentrations compared to untreated larvae. All tested samples showed decrease in total carbohydrates, total proteins and total lipids. Obtained results suggest that using silver and graphene oxide nanomaterials over the magnesium chlorophillin would be a useful component for controlling S. littoralis.

The paper presents the first records in Poland of Agrilus hastulifer (Ratzeburg, 1837) (Buprestidae). It is the 31st species of the genus Agrilus Curtis, 1825 recorded in the country. It was found in two locations in eastern (Białowieża Primeval Forest) and central Poland (Kampinos National Park). All data of the biology and economic significance of this species, based on the literature and our observations, are summarized. Due to the great difficulty in distinguishing this species from Agrilus graminis Kiesenwetter, 1857, we also provide an original, richly illustrated comparison useful for discriminating the two species.

It is the 31st species of the genus Agrilus Curtis, 1825 recorded in the country. It was found in two locations in eastern (Białowieża Primeval Forest) and central Poland (Kampinos National Park). All data of the biology and economic significance of this species, based on the literature and our observations, are summarized. Due to the great difficulty in distinguishing this species from Agrilus graminis Kiesenwetter, 1857, we also provide an original, richly illustrated comparison useful for discriminating the two species.","PeriodicalId":53438,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Entomology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43650953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Charipinae (Cynipoidea: Figitidae) deposited in the Museum of Natural History of Wroclaw University (Poland) have been studied. Seven species are recorded for the first time from Poland: Alloxysta brachyptera (Hartig, 1840), A. castanea (Hartig, 1841), A. citripes (Thomson, 1862), A. consobrina (Zetterstedt, 1838), A. mullensis (Cameron, 1883), A. nottoni Ferrer-Suay & Pujade-Villar, 2015 and Phaenoglyphis heterocera (Hartig, 1841). The presence of previously recorded species is confirmed and new records are specified. A key to all Charipinae species ever recorded in Poland is given.

As a result of the revision of the noctuid moths (Lepidoptera: Noctuoidea) collection of A. S. Kostrowicki from the River Nida valley (Małopolska Upland, southern Poland) from mid-20th century, and recent fieldwork, a total of 37 species of noctuid moths are listed for the first time from the xerothermic hills of this area. One species, Pechipogo plumigeralis (Hübner, 1825), is formally removed from the checklist of Polish fauna of Lepidoptera.

In recent years, an increase abundance and harmfulness of the San José scale (Comstockaspis perniciosa (Comstock, 1881) has been reported from many European countries. In Poland, C. perniciosa was not observed after 1948–1949, when it was first collected, until it was found again in 2015. It is considered as the most serious pest infecting many different species of plants worldwide. Basic diagnostic information for the San José scale and the key to identify similar diaspidid species recorded in Poland is provided. Current knowledge regarding the biology, host plants, distribution, and control, as well as information regarding the life cycle of C. perniciosa in Poland is summarized.
