Numerical Investigation of Pentamode Mechanical Metamaterials 五模机械超材料的数值研究

Pentamodes are part of the metamaterials’ family and their main characteristics are the peculiar properties, not found in nature, as the low ratio of shear strength to bulk strength. In addition, their lattice nature, contribute to anisotropic behaviour of these materials. Their characteristic, to have low ratio of shear strength to bulk strength, makes pentamodes suitable to confront a wide variety of problems in engineering (antiseismic design, aircraft structures, etc.). Several analytical methods are proposed in order to confront pentamodes metamaterials, but due to the complexity in nowadays engineering problems, a computational analysis should be proposed. In this study, a computational analysis is taking place in the case of pentamodes under quasi static conditions. The pentamodes behaviour under small and large displacements analyses for different materials and for different loading conditions have been analysed and investigated. Analytical results are also proposed and compared with those from numerical analyses. From our study it is observed that pentamodes decrease their shear and compression moduli when their height increases. In addition, the ratio of compression to shear modulus appears to coincide for the different material cases considered.

Application of Specific Energy In Open Channels To Various Forms Of Channel Constriction 明渠比能在各种渠道收缩中的应用

Planning of water structures such as dams, irrigation canals, and other water structures requires a description of these buildings' hydraulic flow phenomenon. Each flow condition, moderate, and after passing through each building has its characteristics or tendencies. The aim of the study was to analyze the flow characteristics through several channel constrictions (sudden, transition, and radius) and verify the relationship between the results of laboratory tests with other research results. Understanding the flow characteristics in a narrow channel can be used to consider the design of channel engineering, especially irrigation canals. The results of the analysis show that the flow of water through the constriction undergoes a specific energy change. The maximum specific energy occurs at the sudden constriction type of 0.1339 m. The predicted results correlated moderately with experimental data from this and other studies. The application of specific energy for channel narrowing with upstream Es = downstream Es with Q = 0.0025 m3/s, then the maximum downstream water level elevation occurs in the form of a sudden narrowing of 0.1200 m. This value deviates from the results of laboratory tests with an elevation of 0.1310 m by 8%. This is due to setting and measurement errors during laboratory tests.

Geomechanics of Soft Ground Improvement by Perforated Piles: Review and Case Study 钻孔灌注桩加固软土地基的地质力学研究进展及实例分析

Civil Infrastructure built on soft and compressible soil is likely to collapse due to undrained shear failure or unacceptable settlement of supporting foundations. Incorporation of adequate ground improvement technique with the aim of upgrading the strength and stiffness of the weak soil is essential in such cases. Amongst various established methods adopted worldwide for improving soft ground, using perforated piles is a relatively emerging technique. Such piles not only transmit the structural load into the subsoil beneath in a manner similar to the conventional piles, but also assist in radial consolidation of soft soil due to perforated side walls. This paper presents a brief overview on the investigations carried out on this new technique. Also, a typical case study has been presented. As observed, the axial pile capacity progressively increased while settlement reduction took place, with accelerated radial consolidation.

The problem of using specialized passivating metals and alloys lies in a rather narrow range of the protecting film performance. With a slight change in operating conditions, the film is destroyed and an avalanche-like process of local corrosion begins at the place of film breakdown. A sequence has been developed for determining parts destruction causes, including a sequential analysis of operating conditions; nature of the part destruction; corrosion products composition; phase inversion in the alloy during overheating or mechanical stress in the part.

Using Road Maps for High-tech Projects Management 使用路线图进行高科技项目管理

The purpose of this article is to study the necessity of creation and road maps usage as an effective ‎tool in order to create novel approaches for managing innovative high-tech projects using the author-developed criterion of innovative ‎tension, interpreted as the difference of potentials of participants in the innovation process — the ‎donor-enterprise of innovations and the recipient-enterprise of innovations.‎ The method of comparative analysis of various forms of organization of the innovation process and the corresponding variants of the ‎ratio of innovative potentials of participating enterprises was used. As a result of the conducted research, methodical approaches to evaluate innovation potentials of donors-enterprises of innovations and enterprises-recipients of innovations were developed. A ‎criterion for estimating the innovative potential in the donor-recipient system, so-called innovative stress, is formulated. An attempt to disclose the importance of methodological support of road maps on the example of ‎innovative projects is made.

Neural Network Algorithm for Stabilizing Mechanized Systems 机械系统稳定的神经网络算法

The article describes an experimental model of stabilization of a mechanized system. The following are shown: a skate; an element of the program code; an algorithm for stabilizing a proportional-integral-differential controller (PID). The experimental model uses the calculation and adjustment of the regulator according to the Ziegler-Nichols method. For the case of applying the neural network approach to the search for equilibrium, the Hopfield neural network is used. The technology of calculating the balancing of the values of the coefficients: proportional, integral, differential components are described. The design of the rolling system is described. The experimental model is designed to identify the balancing range of the rolling system of small-diameter balls. The experimental module balances the ball at a distance of 4.5 to 7 cm (SW-range). The shortcomings of the experimental model of stabilization of the mechanized system are revealed. The analysis of experimental studies of spacecraft stabilization is carried out. It is determined that it is advisable to use the mathematical tools of the sixth-order Butterworth polynomial in the training of a neural network. Complex neural network calculations make it possible to calculate the stabilization coefficients of the spacecraft when the coordinate system does not coincide with the axes of inertia. An overview of the authors ' research on the use of intelligent quality control systems for the production of medicines is given. An overview of neural network solutions for stabilizing the turning angle of high-speed cars is given. The expediency of selecting the stabilization coefficients of a proportional-integral-differential regulator by a trained neural network for various rolling ranges is proved.

Structural Heterogeneity of an Amorphous-Nanocrystalline Alloy Fe77Cu1Si16B6 in the Nanometer Range 纳米范围内非晶态纳米合金Fe77Cu1Si16B6的结构异质性

In this article, an alloy of the Finemet type Fe77Cu1Si16B6 obtained by quenching from a liquid state (spinning method) in the initial state is investigated. The main research methods were scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Methods for describing multiscale structural heterogeneities in amorphous-nanocrystalline alloys have been developed, allowing the structural state to be described and its influence on the physicochemical and technical properties to be determined depending on the technological conditions for obtaining these alloys. Representation of electron microscopic images in the form of Fourier spectra made it possible to reveal the nature of the formation of short- and middle-order in amorphous-nanocrystalline alloys according to the principle of self-similar spatial structures. The analysis of electron microscopic images by integral Lebesgue measures revealed density fluctuations over the alloy volume, which corresponds to the hierarchical representation of structural inhomogeneities in amorphous metallic alloys.

The main research methods were scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Methods for describing multiscale structural heterogeneities in amorphous-nanocrystalline alloys have been developed, allowing the structural state to be described and its influence on the physicochemical and technical properties to be determined depending on the technological conditions for obtaining these alloys. Representation of electron microscopic images in the form of Fourier spectra made it possible to reveal the nature of the formation of short- and middle-order in amorphous-nanocrystalline alloys according to the principle of self-similar spatial structures. Experimental Evaluation for the Catalytic Effect of Nickel in Micron Size on Magnesium Hydride 微米级镍对氢化镁催化作用的实验评价

Magnesium hydride is well known as the ideal candidate for solid-state hydrogen storage and thermochemical thermal storage since both gravimetric and volumetric storage are considerably high. The main drawbacks of magnesium hydride are thermodynamic unfavorable and poor kinetic. Adding Nickel as a catalyst, which mainly incorporates mechanical modification (alloying or particle size reduction), can accelerate the reaction rate and decrease the enthalpy formation. It is hard to determine the catalytic of Nickel in magnesium hydride for the kinetic rate improvement. This study is focused on the observation of the effect of Nickel on magnesium hydride by using the market size availability of magnesium and nickel powder (74 μm for Mg and 63 μm for Ni). Mg and Ni are mixed by Ni variation (weight %) from 14%, 15%, and 16%. The characterization starts with initial hydrogenation and dehydrogenation, continues with activation and PCI measurement to obtain the kinetic characteristic of each sample. From this study, it is clear that the increase in nickel ratio will improve the rate of reaction for magnesium hydride, where the maximum storage for magnesium hydride is 4.2% by adding 16 wt% nickel.

Computational analysis of strength of quasi-brittle materials, crucial for the durability of building structures and industrial components, needs typically a smeared damage approach, referring to the Eringen theory of nonlocal elasticity. Unfortunately its ad hoc constitutive relations cannot avoid potential divergence of sequences of approximate solutions, exploiting some extended finite element techniques, as well as questionable or missing existence results for corresponding boundary value problems. Introducing a simple static partially linearized model problem of such type, this article demonstrates some relevant remedies and their limitations, with numerous references to desirable generalizations

Gearwheels are a common mechanism for distributing torque from mechanical devices to other mechanical devices. The tribological state of gears reduces their performance and lifespan. This paper presents a signal-processing basis for evaluating the vibrational dynamics of a single pair of gears under various tribological situations. This method not only identifies the tribological state of the system, but also leads to different applications in several mechanical systems.
