The main purpose of this study was to research the extent to which viewers could recognize epidemic-themed movies based on the semantic and affective signals contained in the translated movie titles. The analysis revealed that viewers would find information about the epidemic in each of the examined language versions (i.e. German, Polish, and Russian) to at least the same extent as they did in the original version(usually English). The task of German-speaking viewers is the easiest one as the majority of translated titles contain clear semantic signals. Polish and Russian viewers receive slightly fewer such signals. All three language versions contain a similar number of affective signals adequate to the film genres: disaster film, science fiction, and thriller.

The texts begin to resemble Internet creativity, describing not so much real interpersonal relationships as the activity of social networks users. Dramatic texts cease to be a representation of the real, extra-linguistic world, as well as an image of the culture associated with this world, but increasingly create a simulation of reality in virtual space. These processes are described based on the example of plays by young Russian-speaking authors: Valery Pieczejkin, tester 1998, Alexander Seredin, and Alexei Bytiucki. The works in question were presented to a wide audience during subsequent editions of the Festival of Young Drama “Lubimowka”.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie aktualnego stanu wiedzy na temat nauczania języków obcych wśród seniorów, przegląd światowych i krajowych nurtów w tym obszarze i wskazanie na tym tle nowych potrzeb badawczych. Uwzględnione zostały różne perspektywy badawcze, przy czym nacisk został położony na omówienie kwestii najczęściej poruszanych w dyskusjach, takich jak, podtrzymanie lub poprawę poprawa zdolności poznawczych seniorów oraz socjologiczny aspekt uczęszczania osób starszych na kursy językowe. Selekcji literatury przedmiotu dokonano poprzez wyszukiwanie opracowań zawierających słowa kluczowe uznane za istotne dla zagadnienia, a następnie poprzez weryfikację abstraktów zebranych tekstów. Ostatecznie analizie poddano 27 polsko- i angielskojęzycznych publikacji z lat 2011-2019. Badacze zgodni są co do tego, że coraz większe zainteresowanie nauką języków obcych odbiorców senioralnych jest aktualnie ważnym wyzwaniem dla dydaktyki języków obcych, a potwierdzane korzyści z takiej aktywności umysłowej motywują do poszukiwania coraz lepszych rozwiązań w kontekście interdyscyplinarnym. W perspektywie dokonanych analiz jedną z najpilniejszych potrzeb badawczych wydaje się wypracowania propozycji (strategii, modeli) metodycznych i dydaktycznych dopasowanych do możliwości i oczekiwań osób w starszym wieku podejmujących naukę języków obcych.

This article attempts to identify the issues of experiencing the city and its multi-faceted conceptualizations, which are rarely exhibited in research concerning women’s poetry, but often appear in contemporary literature. It offers interpretation of the works of some of the most interesting Polish poets representing various generations (the essay discusses works by Julia Hartwig, Anna Frajlich, and Anna Augustyniak) and worldviews, highlighting specific places and emphasizing the meaning of the senses and emotions in their concretization. It directs attention to the category of experience, examines its constitution and layering progressing in time. It distinguishes particular dimensions – the memory process, the feeling oftransience, irreversible loss – and various relationships between them. The analysis, focusing on depicting the sensual and affective experience of urban space, aims to characterize the category of the subject originally included in poetry and illustrates its transformations.

This article examines the relationship between Soviet authorities and the PomorianOld Believer Church of Lithuania during 1944–1953, in particular, the position andorganizational activities of the Supreme Old Believer Council in Vilnius, the plan to establisha central body of the bespopovtcy in the USSR. It also researches the question as to how thereligious policy of the Soviet authorities at that time and the position of the leadership of theChurch influenced the changes in the network of Pomorian communities in Lithuania. It isimportant to show the different types of communication between the authorities and theleadership of the Church within the framework of “the new course” of religious policy and insubsequent years. So far, these issues have been insufficiently or fragmentarily studied inhistoriography due to the limited use of archival material. The author presents the theoretical basis for linguistic research, whose subject is the interaction of two disciplines: stylistics and pragmatics. In the first part of the article, the author provides a brief overview of the history and problem fields of both disciplines, emphasizing the fact that each of them has its own characteristics from conceptual and ontological points of view. In the second part, the author considers stylistics and pragmatics in the general semiotic model as two “dimensions” of linguistic signs. In addition to the three dimensions introduced by C. Morris, i.e., syntactics, semantics, and pragmatics, the author introduces stylistics as the relation (according to the principle of correspondence) of signs to their socio-cultural environment, i.e., their practical/instrumental context. The author distinguishes between two directions within the framework of pragmastylistic studies. The indicative aspect consists of the study of pragmatic characteristics of separate styles, in other words, in the description of the style employing the conceptual apparatus of pragmalinguistics (such concepts as illocutionary function, speech act, pragmatic strategy, pragmatic implication, pragmatic operator, etc.). The applicative aspect of pragmatic studies is the study in the use of stylistic means of language (i.e., stylistically marked lexical forms and their constructions) for the implementation of different types of speech acts.

Abstract: As a result of the emergence of new forms of work in the professional environment, which have become established as a result of internationalisation, globalisation and specialisation, writing is becomming an important tool for the acquisition, restructuring and exchange of content-related information or new concepts among employees. However, this created challenges concerning the transparency and economy of expression in writing. The following paper presents a study that examined students' writing skills for professional purposes. The subject of the analysis were the results of a writing tasks given to students at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, related to an authentic workplace situation. In order to assess the level of preparation for the requirements of the current labour market based on the knowledge acquired during attendance of university courses, students were asked to solve a written task. After analysing the results obtained using quantitative and qualitative methods, conclusions were drawn regarding possible modifications of the curricula and the extension of the teaching programme to promote the training of writing skills for professional purposes.

They are present, for example, in several lyric poems and fragments of Journal, reflecting important moments in the poet’s intimate psychodrama. The archetypal analysis of their psycho-symbolic content allows one to reveal the specificities of the poet’s inner life, as well as to trace the patterns of animatic projections of his individual unconscious into external reality.
