This article explores how research methods can be used to analyse the experience of women in police custody from a feminist approach. Here, there are presented the methodological process developed with women who went through an experience of police detention, paying particular attention to ethical issues, through a review of the literature on this object of research, a description of the research context, the methodology developed and the decisions made about the most appropriate research techniques for the specific context and the specificities of women in police detention. The usefulness of the closing meeting is illustrated with a double purpose: to weigh the impact of the research for the participants and to return the results, But the closing group made it possible to fulfil other objectives not initially envisaged, such as group comparison of results, accountability on the progress of the research, as well as the generation of dynamics of empathy and mutual validation. In short, the closing group went far beyond the initial expectations, serving as a learning experience for the researchers about the enormous potential of group techniques for the study of women’s experiences. Beyond what was initially envisaged, the focus group allowed for the establishment of other forms of relationships with the women participants, reducing the researcher/participant distance and facilitating more horizontal ways of generating knowledge.

Sexual violence against women and girls is one of the most brutal forms of gender violence and, at the same time, a long-silenced crime. The availability of periodic, rigorous and reliable statistics is a requirement to monitor any phenomenon of public interest and, in the case of sexual violence, an unavoidable requirement to design policies and interventions aimed at prevention, eradication, intervention and reparation. This article wants to be a contribution to the struggle of women victims of any form of sexual violence and, in particular, a political reflection of denunciation against the unjustified shortage of quantitative sources and the inexplicable low quality of the data for the study of this event in Spain. In the first part, we identify the agencies responsible for producing and disseminating sexual crime statistics, making a succinct evaluation of the main sources available. In the second part, we present a compilation of the series on sexual delinquency extracted from the different Statistical Yearbooks published by the Ministry of the Interior since 1987, noting its low capacity for a rigorous quantitative study of sexual violence.

En este articulo enfatizamos el valor epistemico de las emociones en los procesos de investigacion (en el saber que y en el saber como). Nos centramos no solo en como las emociones de quien investiga afectan el proceso de investigacion sino como el propio proceso afecta –emocionalmente- a las investigadoras. En concreto, explicamos las diferentes razones por las cuales es importante reconocer el papel de las emociones en los procesos de investigacion: metodologicas e instrumentales, eticas, analiticas, politicas y sanadoras. Tambien exponemos los inconvenientes de enfatizar las emociones en la investigacion. Partiendo del concepto de “reflexividad fuerte” de las epistemologias feministas, proponemos un viaje para reflexionar sobre las emociones y sus diferentes implicaciones en una investigacion academica: el impacto emocional de la investigacion en la investigadora (especialmente cuando se trabaja con poblacion vulnerable), el trabajo emocional que implica la investigacion y, en concreto, el trabajo de campo (y los dilemas eticos que puede implicar), las emociones como datos o evidencia y el conocimiento emocionalmente sentido. In this paper, we emphasize the epistemic value of emotions in the research process (to know what and know how). We also expose the drawbacks of emphasizing emotions in research. Starting from the concept of "strong reflexivity" of feminist epistemologies, we propose a journey through emotions and their different implications in feminist research: the emotional impact of research on the researcher (especially when working with vulnerable population); the “emotional work” involved in the research and, specifically, in the fieldwork (and the ethical dilemmas that may involve); emotions as data/evidence and emotionally sensed knowledge.

Este articulo tiene como objetivo realizar reflexiones teorico-epistemologicas en base a nuestras experiencias articuladas de investigacion activista con perspectiva feminista. En base a un proceso de reflexion dialogica conjunta, compartimos algunas pistas de las dimensiones etico-politico-afectivas de los procesos de investigacion. Para ello ponemos en dialogo nuestros procesos de investigacion con las epistemologias feministas y el intercambio con otras pensadoras-investigadoras feministas. Proponemos poner en valor las relaciones de afecto y amistad, que permiten que nuestras investigaciones sean mas habitables. Apostamos por una reflexividad que se deja afectar y atravesar por las emociones como herramienta del conocimiento. Incorporamos el analisis semiotico-material de nuestros propios cuerpos, no para caer en la autorreferencia, sino para contemplar sus efectos en la produccion de conocimiento. En sintesis, proponemos otras posibilidades de produccion de conocimiento desde las experiencias corporales, los afectos y las diversas relaciones que vamos tejiendo y que sostienen nuestros procesos de investigacion para construir colectivamente un conocimiento encarnado y situado, comprometido con la constitucion de modos de vida vivibles. The aim of this article is to make theoretical-epistemological reflections based on our articulated experiences of activist research with a feminist perspective. Based on a process of joint dialogical reflection, we share some clues about the ethical-political-affective dimensions of the research processes. To this end, we put our research processes in dialogue with feminist epistemologies and the exchange with other feminist thinkers-researchers. We propose to value affective relationships and friendship, which allow our research to be more habitable. We are committed to a reflexivity that allows itself to be affected and traversed by emotions as a tool for knowledge. We incorporate the semiotic-material analysis of our own bodies, not to fall into self-reference, but to contemplate their effects on the production of knowledge. In short, we propose other possibilities for the production of knowledge based on bodily experiences, affects and the diverse relationships that we weave and that sustain our research processes in order to collectively build an embodied and situated knowledge, committed to the constitution of livable ways of life.

La investigacion feminista genera otras formas de hacer ciencia. En el ambito de las ciencias sociales, aun sigue resultando desconocida y controvertida desde el punto de vista metodologico. Las epistemologias feministas, sus principios y valores marcan las directrices metodologicas de este tipo de investigacion. Hay escasos trabajos que se centren en aportar pautas aplicadas y sinteticas de lo que implica una buena practica de investigacion desde este enfoque. Por ello, nos proponemos generar, desde la evidencia, una guia con pasos metodologicos que permitan planear y disenar la investigacion feminista. Tambien, perseguimos identificar en la literatura cientifica los principales desafios metodologicos a los que se enfrenta en la actualidad este tipo de investigacion. Asi, realizamos una revision de literatura reciente y referente en la materia, seleccionando tanto estudios empiricos y que recogen casos ilustrativos de investigaciones feministas como reflexiones metodologicas y revisiones publicadas en revistas de una diversidad de areas de ciencias sociales y que cuentan con revision por pares. El analisis de las contribuciones se realiza desde un enfoque tematico y de teoria fundamentada, siguiendo procesos de codificacion abierta y abductiva, donde se tienen en cuenta conceptos nucleares para las epistemologias feministas. Los procesos de analisis buscan la proyeccion aplicada de principios y valores de las epistemologias feministas en una estructura interpretativa que guie y oriente la investigacion. El aporte final supone disponer de una guia fundamentada y ejemplificada que permite articular futuros disenos de investigacion, alertando sobre aspectos metodologicos clave para tener en cuenta. Asi como tambien, se identifican cuatro desafios metodologicos principales que mantienen el debate abierto en la academia en torno a la investigacion feminista actual. En ultima instancia, el estudio invita a la reflexion sobre la tension entre el ideal de investigacion feminista, la practica actual de esta investigacion y las posibilidades metodologicas que implica su puesta en marcha. Feminist research generates other ways of doing science. In the field of social sciences, it is still unknown and controversial from a methodological point of view. Feminist epistemologies, their principles and values set the methodological guidelines for this type of research. There are few works that focus on providing applied and synthetic guidelines of what a good research practice implies from this approach. Therefore, we propose to generate, from the evidence, a guide with methodological steps that allow planning and designing feminist research. En ultima instancia, el estudio invita a la reflexion sobre la tension entre el ideal de investigacion feminista, la practica actual de esta investigacion y las posibilidades metodologicas que implica su puesta en marcha. Feminist research generates other ways of doing science. In the field of social sciences, it is still unknown and controversial from a methodological point of view. Feminist epistemologies, their principles and values set the methodological guidelines for this type of research. There are few works that focus on providing applied and synthetic guidelines of what a good research practice implies from this approach. Therefore, we propose to generate, from the evidence, a guide with methodological steps that allow planning and designing feminist research. Also, we seek to identify in the scientific literature the main methodological challenges that this type of research currently faces. Uno de los problemas sociales mas graves que se presentan actualmente en Mexico es el de la violencia feminicida, por lo que es un tema con el cual estamos obligadas a comprometernos. Este texto parte de un trabajo en el que hemos realizado conocimientos situados y seguido algunos pasos de la Investigacion Activista Feminista. El trabajo se centro en recoger las experiencias de familiares y activistas que luchan pro frenar la violencia feminicida en una region del centro de Mexico. El articulo explica como se construyo la investigacion desde los planteamientos feministas y muestra como tejer los datos recogidos como dialogo de saberes y no un analisis jerarquizado. La idea es seguir aportando a la creacion de una comunidad cientifica feminista. One of the most relevant social problems in Mexico is femicide violence. La evaluación de intervenciones públicas constituye una disciplina técnica cuya finalidad es informar la toma de decisiones gubernamentales. Por ello, resulta especialmente relevante para analizar el problema del uso político del conocimiento. En este sentido, la historia de esta disciplina pone de manifiesto el enfrentamiento entre paradigmas metodológicos en cuya pugna están en juego distintos modos de aplicar los resultados de las evaluaciones. Asimismo, se evidencian las dificultades y distorsiones de esta puesta en práctica, el incumplimiento persistente de los fines asignados a la evaluación. Ello plantea una paradoja: el sentido último de la evaluación es incrementar la eficacia y la utilidad de la acción gubernamental; sin embargo, comparece como una práctica inútil, sin uso efectivo. El presente artículo indaga en las razones de esta paradoja desde una doble perspectiva, constituida por la concepción foucaultiana del acoplamiento entre saberes y dispositivos de gobierno, y las reflexiones de Hannah Arendt sobre la relación entre verdad y política en las sociedades contemporáneas.The evaluation of public interventions is a technical discipline whose purpose is to inform government decision-making. Therefore, it is especially relevant in order to analyze the problem of the political use of knowledge. In this sense, the history of this discipline shows the confrontation between methodological paradigms in whose struggle different ways of implementing the results of evaluations are at stake. Likewise, the difficulties and distortions of this implementation are evidente: the persistent non-compliance of the purposes assigned to the evaluation. This raises a paradox: the ultimate meaning of evaluation is to increase the effectiveness and utility of government action; however, it appears as a useless practice, a practice without effective use. The present article explores the reasons for this paradox from a double perspective, constituted by the Foucaultian conception of the coupling between knowledge and government devices, and the reflections of Hannah Arendt on the relationship between truth and politics in contemporary societies.

En el presente trabajo nos proponemos abordar la política de cifras desplegadas por los movimientos de mujeres en Argentina de la última década en torno a las violencias contra las mujeres. En un contexto de expansión de los feminismos en el país y una creciente institucionalización de perspectivas que se reconocen en esa matriz, la retórica de las cifras se ha convertido en la lingua franca para la visibilización de las situaciones de violencia contra las mujeres. Las preguntas que nos formulamos son las siguientes: ¿Cómo se organiza hoy el saber sobre la violencia de género? ¿Cómo operan las cifras en la construcción de ese saber y en su difusión e impacto social? Tomando como corpus para la indagación el registro de femicidios de la Casa del Encuentro nos interesa, por un lado, detenernos en los supuestos epistemológicos y las elecciones metodológicas de su confección y, por el otro, abordar los procesos sociales de construcción y validación de cifras en torno a los femicidios en un contexto de despliegue de políticas de cifras. Nuestro argumento es, por un lado, que el registro despliega un método positivista inductivo que actúa ficciones de objetividad científica a partir del empleo de las cifras como evidencia indiscutible de los “hechos”. Por el otro lado, sostenemos que un saber en torno a los femicidios se legitima como experto a partir de la política de cifras. In this paper we aim to address the politics of numbers displayed by women's movements in Argentina in the last decade about violence against women. In a context of expansion of feminisms across the country and a growing institutionalization of the gender perspective, the rhetoric of numbers has become the lingua franca for the visibility of situations of violence against women. The questions we ask ourselves are: How is the knowledge about gender violence organized today? How do the figures operate in the construction of this knowledge and in its dissemination and social impact? Taking as a corpus the register of femicides of Casa del Encuentro, we are interested, on the one hand, in interrogate the epistemological assumptions and the methodological choices behind it and, on the other, to address the social processes of construction and validation of figures around femicides in a context of politics of numbers. Our argument is, on the one hand, that the register displays an inductive positivist method that acts fictions of scientific objectivity based on the use of figures as indisputable evidence of "facts". On the other hand, we argue that knowledge about femicides is legitimized as expert based on the politics of numbers.
