Bacterial communities play pivotal roles in nutrient cycling in mangrove forests. The assembly of mangrove microbial communities has been found to be influenced by complex factors, such as geographic distance, physicochemical conditions, and plant identity, but the relative importance of these factors and how these factors shape the assembling process remain elusive. We analyzed the bacterial communities sampled from three mangrove species (Aegiceras corniculatum, Bruguiera sexangula, and Kandelia obovata) at three locations along the estuarine Dongzhai Harbor in Hainan, China. We revealed larger differences in rhizosphere bacterial communities among geographical locations than among plant species, indicated by differences in diversity, composition, and interaction networks. We found that dispersal limitation and homogeneous selection have substantial contributions to the assembly of mangrove rhizosphere bacterial communities in all three locations. Following the phylogenetic-bin-based null model analysis (iCAMP) framework, we also found dispersal limitation and homogeneous selection showing dominance in some bins. The greater differences among geographic locations may be mainly attributed to the larger proportions of dispersal limitation even at such a short geographic distance. We also found that beta diversity was positively correlated with environmental distances, implying that the more similar environmental conditions (such as rich carbon and nitrogen contents) among plant species may have shaped similar bacterial communities. We concluded that the geographic distances, which are associated with dispersal limitation, played a key role in assembling mangrove rhizosphere bacterial communities, while physicochemical conditions and plant identity contributed less.

Recent studies in the field of socioeconomic development of the country’s regions show high intensity and versatility, but they do not sufficiently assess the transformation of territories in conjunction with the functioning of railway transport, as an important element in ensuring sustainable growth. The content of the work is aimed at establishing the impact of rail transport on the socio-economic development of regions. The theoretical provisions of the spatial economy constitute the methodological basis of the study. The research methods are bibliometric analysis, in particular the analysis of the frequency of using keywords (co-occurrence analysis), methods of comparative, correlation and regression analysis. The empirical basis of the study includes publications indexed by the Scopus database, as well as official statistical information on the functioning of railway transport and the level of socioeconomic development of the territories, which Russian Railways operates, for the period 2010–2020. The initial data were processed using VOSviewer 1.6.18, EViews 13, Stata/MP 14.2. The article tests the assumption that there is a correlation between the results of railway transport and gross regional product as a characteristic of the socio-economic development of the regions of the Russian Federation. The approach involves checking the cross-dependence and stationarity of variables, performing a Pedroni and Kao panel cointegration analysis, estimating the parameters of the cointegrating regression, and conducting a Dumitrescu – Hurlin causality panel analysis. The research results empirically substantiate the existence of long-term, bidirectional and unidirectional causal relationships between the parameters of the functioning of the railway transport and GRP

The purpose of the article is to analyze the results of actual theoretical and empirical studies of the process of accumulation of human capital in rural regions of China at the present stage of economic development. The PRC is still a country with a large proportion of the population living and working in rural regions. That is why the sustainability of the development of these regions and the country’s economy as a whole is largely determined by the peculiarities of the development of the labor resources of Chinese villages. The process of accumulation of human capital in rural regions plays an important role in China’s economic and social policy, as well as in solving the problem of ‘sannun’. The process of accumulation of human capital is influenced by three groups of interrelated factors: urbanization with Chinese characteristics, the level and quality of life, infrastructure and socio-institutional environment. The results of a comprehensive analysis of the influence of these groups of factors led to the conclusion that an elementary increase in public investment in the agricultural sector and rural regions of the PRC against the background of the development of free market relations, urbanization and income differentiation is not enough to ensure conditions for sustainable economic development and solving this problem. The role of human capital in the development of rural regions of China will increase only with the provision of opportunities to create an effective infrastructure and a favorable socio-institutional environment for its accumulation

The academic research of the 1950–1980s devoted to polarized development was characterized by methodological eclecticism. The set of generally accepted provisions (the ‘hard core’ of the theory) had not been formed in the framework of the original works of French researchers (primarily F. Perroux and J.-R. Boudeville). This problem of began to worsen due to the expansion of the number of involved researchers. One of the most notable innovations, which arose due to incorrect interpretations of the publications of the French pioneers, was the introduction of the term ‘growth center’, which greatly supplanted the original ‘pole’ terminology from the Anglo-Saxon works. In addition to the unjustified expansion of the list of terms, publications began to appear based on methodological guidelines that run counter to the ones of F. Perroux. In fact, the scientific direction has clearly fallen into the ‘fragmentation trap’. It also failed to form a set of more or less complete auxiliary theories that could form a ‘protective belt’ of the theory of polarized development. As a result, the original methodological basis (which can be characterized as heterodox) began to erode, including through studies using economic orthodoxy typical tools. The end result was a gradual decline in the interest of academic researchers in the original concept, and competing heterodox theories fell into the ‘centers of attention’
