Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP) menggulirkan salah satu dari program yaitu hibah kapal bagi nelayan di Kabupaten Sukabumi yang tergabung dalam Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB). Pemanfaatan kapah hibah yang berbasis di Kabupaten Sukabumi diharapkan mampu meningkatkan hasil tangkapan nelayan. Oleh karena itu, riset ini bertujuan untuk menilai tingkat pemanfaatan penggunaan kapal hibah yang berbasis di Kabupaten Sukabumi. Riset ini dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2019 sampai Januari 2020. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode survey. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif komparatif. Hasil riset menunjukan bahwa kapal hibah dinilai optimal dan dimanfaatkan dengan baik oleh nelayan Kabupaten Sukabumi dengan menggunakan alat tangkap jaring rampus dan pancing ulur. Aktivitas kapal hibah mampu menyamai dengan kegiatan kapal yang berbasis di Kabupaten Sukabumi.

The local community has caught mud crabs for years and increased fishing pressures, leading to biological structure changes. Accordingly, studying the growth pattern, condition factors, and structure of mud crab in the Sanrangang River, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province is necessary. This research was conducted from June to August 2020 in the Sanrangang River, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This study compared the efficiency and effectiveness of three types of bubu, namely folding bubu, rakkang and wheel bubu based on the experimental fishing by using tilapia as the bait. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square non-parametric test. Results showed that the catch of mud crabs for folding bubu, rakkangs, and wheel bubu was 120; 107; and 110 species. The width and weight of mud crabs’ carapace caught by each bubu were as follows: from folding bubu ranged from 34.07 to 99.02 mm (60.34 ± 15.06 mm) and 21.62 to 389.57 g (92.41 ± 75.38 g); rakkang ranged from 35.09 to 98.51 mm (66.91 ± 13.95 mm) and 21.94-297.29 g (87.86 ± 34.35 g) and wheel bubu ranged from 34.21- 98.11 mm (66.32 ± 16.83 mm) and 22.01-485.45 g (102.17 ± 79.87 g). The growth patterns of the catch from all gear were negative allometric. The condition factors of folding bubu, rakkangs, and wheel bubu ranged from 0.40631-2.3998, 0.4598-2.4553 and 0.4962-3.1098 respectively. The gear producing the highest weight and the best condition factor was wheel bubu. Keywords: Condition factor, mud crab, size structure, growth type.

Purse seine fishing significantly contribute to fish production at Tamperan fishing port, Pacitan. However decreasing production trend is threatening as a result of overfishing and poor information about fishing seasonal patterns. Purse seine at Tamperan port mostly catch highly valued pelagic fish. Those fish are popular in the region and caught its respective seasonal patterns. The research aims at calculating the fishing productivity and identifying the seasonal pattern of the major targeted species of purse seine based at the Tamperan fishing Port, Pacitan. The research was conducted by interviewing 18 fishers, head of fish auction center and some offers of Tamperan fishing port. Data collection incorporated catch production, types of fish, fishing trips and other data. Productivity was calculated according to KEPMEN N0.61/2014 while fish season patterns were projected using time series and moving average methods. During the last 5 years the fish production landed at PPP Tamperan were skipjack, mackerel scad, and tuna. The number of productions decreased as well as the level of productivity. Factors affecting productivity included the number of crew members, fishing trips, gross tonnage, engine, and net length. Purse seine productivity based on the number of fishing trips (ton/trip) has increased while others have decreased. According to the fish seasons, the best period to conduct purse seine operations in Pacitan Regency are in March, May-September (skipjack), December-February, April-May (mackerel scad), and January-April, July, August (tuna). ABSTRACT The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries (DJPT) provides assistance in the form of fishing vessels to fishermen. However, the aid vessels intended for Cilacap had an empty weight that was heavier when compared to other vessels that had the same main dimensions of the vessel. The vessel that have heavier empty weights will cause poor motion when operating and reduced capacity to accommodate the vessel. The purpose of this research are to calculate the difference in the weights of aid vessel and fishing vessel, formulate the maximum weight of cargo that can be accommodated by aid vessel and fishing vessel through TPC calculations, and estimate the level of income of fishermen per trip with the maximum weight set. The research was conducted on aid vessel and 3 GT sized fishermen vessel made of fiberglass which have different vessel weights. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the empty weight of the aid vessel was 277,1847 kg and the fishermen vessel was 95,4165 kg with the difference between the two vessels 181,7682 kg. The maximum cargo weight that can be accommodated by the aid vessel at the highest draft is 3.98 tons. The maximum cargo weight that can be accommodated by fishing vessel at the highest draft is 5.98 tons. The estimated revenue of the aid vessel in the condition of a maximum load of Rp. 29,371,620 and the estimated income of fishing vessel in the condition of a maximum load of Rp. 46,081,620. Ciletuh Bay is a Global Geopark area since 2018 by UNCESCO. Ciletuh Bay is located in the south of Java Island which is directly facing the Indian Ocean, so Ciletuh Bays has unique water characteristics. This research aims to determine the condition of the waters of Ciletuh Bay in terms of physical, chemical, and biological parameters. This research was conducted in the dry season in June 2019 and the rainy season in February 2021. The parameters observed in this study were temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, brightness, depth, ammpnia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, chlorophyll-a, sediment substrate, and macrozoobenthos. The results showed that the concentration of ammonia, nitrite, and chlorophyll-a had the highest values in the rainy season with values for each parameter of 0,028 mg/L; 1,663 mg/L; dan 2,82 mg/L. meanwhile, the highest concentration of nitrate and phosphate were found in the dry season with each having a value of 0,717 mg/L; dan 0,09 mg/L. The sediment substrate during both seasons is dominated by sand. Macrozoobenthos during the rainy season is dominated by the Gastropod class, while during the dry season it is dominated by the Bivalvia class.

Pangandaran is located in the southern coast of the Java Island. Some of Pangandaran fishers operate lift net (bagan) to catch fish and shrimp. During hauling process, the net is lifted manually using a roller that potentially harm the fishers. The purpose of this study was to design a mechanical roller that applicable for lift net. The analysis of design requirement, such as calculation of torque, horse power, and reduction power with gear mechanism for operating the roller were applied in this research. The results showed that the net lifting operation required 4.8 HP or 3.6 KW of diesel engine to power a hydraulic pump. For the maximum load, when the net is fully loaded with fish, the operation required 67.91 HP or 50.64 KW. It means power from the diesel motor was not enough to support at maximum load. Therefore, a gear mechanism with a ratio of 1:14 was applied. However, this method reduces the angular speed of the gear which leads to reduction on net pulling speed. Abstract Catches reports by set longlines fishing vessels in the 718-fisheries management area (FMA) have been entered into the logbook reporting system since 2012. These vessels targeted reef and demersal fish. Set longlines is considered to be very efficient and productive for catching reef fish. This study aims to see the performance of set longlines vessels. The indicators used are CPUE and fuel efficiency. The results of the study show that the performance of set longlines vessels in the area is getting better and more efficient. Kapal-kapal rawai tesebut menargetkan ikan karang dan ikan demersal. Rawai dasar dianggap sebagai alat tangkap yang sangat efisien dan produktif untuk menangkap ikan karang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kinerja kapal rawai dasar. Indikator yang digunakan adalah CPUE dan efisiensi bahan bakar. Arad has been prohibited because of its damages to the environment. However, fishers in Muarareja continue to operate the gear even though environmentally friendly fishing gear (traps) have been granted as a substitution. The reason behind the rejection of substitute fishing gear is interesting to be investigated. Therefore, the study aim to 1) analyze fishers' perceptions of arad prohibition, traps, and environmentally friendly fishing gear program; 2) evaluate fishers' perception on policies concerning arad prohibition and fishing gear substitution; and 3) formulate the recommendations. This study involved 35 arad fishers in Muarareja Village who has been granted with traps as substitute fishing gear. Variables in this study are fishers' perceptions on arad and trap, the policy of arad prohibition, and fishers' perception on the environmentally friendly fishing gear program. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires. Data were analyzed by scoring respondents' answers based on provided statements. The results showed that fishers did not agree that arad is not environmentally friendly, while the trap is. Fishers are also against arad prohibition and refuse to use traps as a replacement. Furthermore, fishers who received traps are still very dependent on arad and use traps only for alternative fishing gear. Recommendations for the policy of arad prohibition are arad should be allowed with special regulation, and further education is required for fishers to understand the correlation between unselective fishing gear and environmental damages. Recommendations for the environmentally friendly fishing gear program are that the provision of traps should be continued with several adjustments following fishermen's preferences.Keywords: Prohibition of arad, environmentally-friendly fishing gear, traps.

The Semangka Bay in Tanggamus Regency of Lampung Province is a potential area for capture fisheries activities. The fishing port as the primary basis for the capture fisheries sector can increase regional economic growth. The fishing ports in Tanggamus Regency have physical and non-physical problems, so efforts to develop fishing ports are needed. The preparation of these efforts required information about the operational conditions of fishing ports. This study aims to describe the operational conditions of the fishing port in the Tanggamus Regency. The research method is descriptive with two stages. The first assessment of the operational performance of fishing ports. Second, gap assessment of fishing ports. The result showed that the average value of fishing ports operational performance is 26%, and the average gap value is 74%. The operational condition of the fishing ports in the Tanggamus Regency is classified as inferior. Fishing port facilities are the criteria with the lowest performance and the highest gap. Improvements to the fishing ports in Tanggamus Regency are needed through procurement and repair of fishing port facilities by local governments.

ABSTRAK Perikanan pukat cincin di Tuban memiliki kontribusi yang tinggi dalam menciptakan variasi hasil tangkapan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beragamnya metode pengoperasian yang digunakan yang tergambar pada empat faktor produksi yaitu ukuran kapal, jarak daerah penangkapan ikan, jumlah trip dan jumlah anak buah kapal (ABK) yang diambil dengan metode wawancara kepada 60 responden. Metode Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) merupakan metode analisis yang digunakan memperoleh model faktor produksi yang terbaik dengan menggunakan estimasi maximum likelihood sebagai perhitungan yang sesuai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui model produksi terbaik dengan menggunakan AIC sehingga diperoleh hasil tangkapan yang optimal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah trip merupakan variabel penentu kuantitas hasil tangkapan. Sinkronisasi informasi jumlah trip optimal dan ketentuan upaya penangkapan yang diperbolehkan dapat dijadikan dasar pengelolaan perikanan perikanan pukat cincin di Tuban.
