Performance Evaluation of Mode Transition Strategy for 3P4W Microgrid Utilizing SOAP-FLL and LMLS Filtering Approach 基于SOAP-FLL和lls滤波方法的3P4W微网模式转换策略性能评价

This work focusses on the performance evaluation of a three phase four wire (3P4W) AC microgrid under mode transition. The changeover from utility integrated to standalone control is carried out using modified synchronous observer aided preprocessing based frequency locked loop filter (SOAPFLL). It effectively traces the grid and load angle utilized for synchronization purpose. The power generation units of wind and PV power are the renewable resources utilized to fulfill the critical load demand under grid outage mode. The battery associated with bidirectional DC-DC converter allows reduction in the battery capacity rating. In fact, effective load current fundamental constituent extraction is carried out using least mean logarithmic square (LMLS) algorithm. It reduces the effect of the non-linear load harmonics on the utility power quality. It also allows sensitive load operation at the point of common coupling (PCC). The microgrid is modelled in Matlab and the simulation result procured, depict the smooth mode transition from utility associated operating mode to utility outage mode and vice-versa. The harmonics appearing in the grid current are eliminated successfully while providing enhanced power quality of grid and voltage of PCC.

A computationally less expensive fault detection technique in VSC-HVDC system using wavelet decomposition and support vector machine classifier 基于小波分解和支持向量机分类器的VSC-HVDC故障检测技术

The VSC-based HVDC system has gained more popularity due to the advancement in the high power carrying capability of the semiconductor switches. Despite the numerous advantages, the protection scheme faces the challenge to isolate the internal fault within 5 to 6ms. Moreover, the algorithm also deactivates the relay, to operate during the disturbances and external fault. This paper proposes a protection scheme utilizing Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. Several types of faults are created on the HVDC transmission lines using PSCAD/EMTDC. The current and voltage signals of the HVDC line are obtained and decomposed using DWT to obtain the detailed coefficients up to the third level. Features obtained from the detailed coefficients are further used for the training of SVM for the detection and classification of the fault. Since the proposed approach uses only the information from one end, it does not rely on communication. To avoid the high computational burden of the Wavelet transform, the protection scheme is designed in such a way that, it performs the DWT, only if the disturbance persists for five consecutive samples.

Analytical Prediction of Static Flux-Linkage Characteristics of Switched Reluctance Machine 开关磁阻电机静态磁链特性的分析预测

This paper deals with the analytical prediction of static flux-linkage characteristics of switched reluctance (SR) machines at the aligned and unaligned rotor positions, which determine the torque output. Specifically, this paper proposes a novel flux-tube based approach to derive closed-form analytical expressions for the effective air-region permeance at the aligned and unaligned rotor positions in terms of machine dimensions. The proposed method does not require preliminary finite element analysis (FEA), and includes the effect of rotor pole height on the flux-linkage characteristics. The predictions by the proposed method for three different machines are compared with the results of FEA and of three existing analytical methods. The results of the proposed method are found to be accurate and comparable to those of FEA in all cases. The aligned and unaligned flux-linkage characteristics of a 10000-rpm, 5-kW SR machine, thus predicted, are verified through FEA and experiments. Correlation between machine characteristics and dimensions, combined with good accuracy and low computation time, make the proposed method a useful tool for design optimization.

Management of Energy Storage Dispatch in Unbalanced Distribution Networks using OpenDSS 基于OpenDSS的不平衡配电网储能调度管理

The proliferation of renewable energy resources in an active distribution network leads to increased benefits such as low carbon emission, free energy, and certain challenges like voltage and frequency fluctuation, increase in uncertainty, bidirectional power flow, etc. The integration of energy storage is proposed to mitigate the challenges faced due to the increased penetration of renewable energy resources. Moreover, the integration of storage, in turn, requires optimal planning and energy management methods for efficient utilization of the integrated energy storage systems. The present work describes an energy management approach by utilizing distributed energy storage (DES) in an unbalanced distribution network. The distribution network and all its elements are modeled in open distribution system simulator (OpenDSS). MATLAB-COM interface is utilized to drive the OpenDSS and analyze results. Also, additional constraints to prevent early end-of-life of battery energy storage are modeled in MATLAB. The method is validated on a practical Indian distribution system of IIT Roorkee.

Energy Performance Improvement in House Boat Tourism through Clean Energy Route Interfaced with Energy Efficient Power Conversion Techniques and Energy Storage 通过清洁能源路线与高效能源转换技术和储能相结合,提高船屋旅游的能源性能

With its unique culture and tradition, tourism is distinguished and globally attractive sector of economy in the Kerala state. House boat tourism is the backbone of this sector. Luxurious and climate controlled suites combined with back water transport are the major attraction of these house boats. For both propulsion and indoor amenities, the hydrocarbon based fuels are a key energy resource. The continuous exploitation of fossil fuels, especially petrol and diesel through combustion route as a primary energy source have landed in major contribution of carbon footprints and water pollution. The impact of these activities to climate change will lead to a threat for aquatic life and sustainable tourism. Energy efficiency and renewable energy are the forward players to tackle these challenges. Dependence on reliable and quality power from grid is also a challenge for these house boats during docked as well as sailing conditions. A novel methodology to harvest clean and free renewable energy from roof top Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) modules, store using suitable energy storage technology combined with energy efficient power distribution using Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) to feed energy optimally to the hotel loads is discussed. Pre and post implementation Energy performance and climate impact is evaluated through Energy performance analysis and the same is discussed.

Reliability Centered Capacity Management in Deregulated Power Market 以可靠性为中心的电力市场容量管理

The thrust toward deregulation and delicensing of the electric utility industry has brought significant transformation in modern power distribution systems. In vertically integrated power systems, the capacity reserve (CR) allocation is centrally managed to meet the system performance standards under any outage condition. However, due to deregulation and delicensing of power distribution, entry barriers for private players for creating competition in the power market are reduced, enabling consumers to purchase the CR directly from the preferred energy providers based on their reliability levels. In this paper, an attempt has been made to illustrate how capacity reserve management (CRM) in a deregulated environment is done based on customer’s reliability satisfaction. The well-being framework is applied to develop the reliability model of a bilateral power market. A new index, CRAI, has been introduced to measure the availability of CR and examine the risk of the system. The proposed concepts have been exemplified in Roy Billinton Test System (RBTS).

The two-level (TL) inverter employs a passive EMI filter to mitigate conducted common-mode (CM) electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues such as CM current and shaft voltage. Whereas the topology of dual two-level (DTL) inverter is emerged with the provision of dedicated pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme to eliminate the CM voltage and thereby considers the reduction of CM emissions in the system. However, the effect of CM voltage elimination on the attenuation performance of high frequency CM noise (up to 30 MHz) and shaft voltage in DTL inverter fed induction motor is not clearly stated in literature. Thus, this paper presents the theoretical and experimental discussion on comparative evaluation between TL inverter system with passive EMI filter and the DTL inverter under PWM schemes such as CM voltage elimination (CMVE) PWM and remote state PWM (RSPWM) scheme. The comparative evaluation is carried out in terms of attenuation of conducted CM emissions in relevance to the component requirement for both the systems. The experimental verification of the reported work is carried out for a 3-$phi$, 1.1 kW IM driven in star configuration for TL inverter and open-end winding configuration for DTL inverter.

A Novel Protection Scheme for Low Voltage DC Microgrid Based on Localized Measurement of Transient Reactor Voltage 基于暂态电抗器电压局部测量的低压直流微电网保护新方案

Fault detection in DC microgrid offers new challenges to detect and isolate the faulted segment within few milliseconds due to high rate of rise of fault current, absence of zero crossing, frequency and information of phasors. For reliable and secure operation of DC microgrid, a new protection scheme based on change in transient reactor voltage at one end of the cable is proposed for fault detection during grid connected and islanded mode of operation. Whenever the magnitude of change in transient reactor voltage observed at one end of the cable exceeds pre-defined threshold limit, an internal fault is detected. The proposed scheme is investigated for different transient and fault conditions such as internal faults at different locations with different fault resistances, external faults, AC side faults, load variation, DG outage and generation uncertainties due to change in environmental conditions to further demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of the proposed protection scheme. The simulation results confirms that the proposed protection scheme is fast, accurate, capable of identifying internal faults and types of faults in DC microgrid.

This paper presents the closed loop controller design of a quasi-z-source inverter (qZSI). The qZSI is used as a single-stage power converter and can operate in buck and boost mode operation. Hence qZSI is an economical solution for distributed generation and eliminates the need for two-stage power conversion. To obtain the quality output ac supply, the closed multi-loop control method is proposed in this paper. In proposed control method, the controls of the dc and ac sides are done separately. The proportional and resonant controllers are used in the ac side, whereas proportional and integral controllers are used in the dc side. Furthermore, to mimic the behavior of the synchronous generator, the droop control is used to generate the reference voltage for ac side of the controller. The MATLAB/Simulink models are used for testing and analysis purpose.

A Simplified Functional Hybrid Operation Mode for Grid-Interactive Building Energy Management 网格-交互建筑能源管理的简化功能混合运行模式

This work presents a simplified hybrid operation mode that efficiently controls how passive residential building operates to simultaneously meet occupants’ thermal comforts and reduce its power demands. By function, the proposed mode maximizes the building’s use of passive energy strategies through natural ventilation to reduce cooling or heating loads from the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system operation. Simulation studies were performed for three selected residential buildings in Pacific Northwest National Laboratory building stocks varying from mild, warm, and humid-continental climates. The annual simulation results established a minimal number of periods that cooling or heating was needed to supplement natural ventilation. The hybrid control operation established significant heating demand reduction during the winter simulation periods and a widely varied cooling demand savings during the summer across the evaluated climate locations. The operation mode shows a scalable potential for model predictive control functions and other extensive applications in advanced demand management and transactive operations.
