CR-VANET (Cognitive radio-vehicular Ad-Hoc Network) can mitigate channel resource shortage and congestion in VANET. For CR-VANET, with the consideration of fast topology changes and Pus'activities, the existing routing protocols or schemes in VANET or cognitive radio networks (CRAHNs) can not be directly applied into CR-VANET. Therefore, we propose a jointly routing algorithm of CRVANET in urban single-lane expressway for minimizing end-to-end delay (MDCR-VANET). With the consideration of characters of single-lane urban expressway and delay in CRAHNs and VANET, we formulate the objective function as non-linear integer programming, which is NP-hard. Our algorithm uses the geography based greedy forwarding method to ensure the minimum transmission delay and store-forward delay. For the channle selection, we propose a heuristic method to select appropriate channel. Through extensive simulations and comparisons of stateof-the-art protocols, we prove that our algorithm can achieve less end-to-end delay.

In this paper, we analyze the susceptibility of the Band-to-Band tunneling (BTBT) current subjected to the interface traps in silicon tunnel field effect transistors (TFET). The study quantifies the BTBT current against the types of interface traps (donor or acceptor), its density (NtD or NtA), and the corresponding trap energy level (Etrap) within the forbidden gap. It is observed that the acceptor-type traps deteriorate the BTBT mechanism in an n-TFET while it improves the same in a p-TFET. A similar, however, opposite observation is obtained for the donor-type traps. Further, it is observed that a small trap density (1×1011 cm−3) has little impact on the BTBT (due to large band-gap in silicon) while a larger value (5×1012 cm−3) changes the BTBT substantially. Moreover, it is shown that the trap energy location (Etrap =3D 1.0 eV) increases BTBT when closer to the conduction band for n-TFET while for p- TFET, a similar observation is made when Etrap is located closer to the valence band.

An automated plant identification is necessary to identify plants, especially rarely seen ones. In this paper a framework to identify plant species based on leaf's characteristics is introduced. First, 31 features of leaves from 13 species are extracted that represents color, shape and texture of the leaves. Then, the features are selected according to their correlation to the class label. The data with 25.8% pruned features are then used to train a feedforward neural network. The network is trained and tested using 975 images by implementing 10-fold mechanism yields 95.54% accuracy.

With the growing demand for more efficient power converters with higher power densities, usage of new materials like Silicon Carbide (SiC) are getting increasingly popular. The availability of SiC devices has led to more efficient converters owing to beneficial features such as having lower internal resistance and faster switching times compared to Si based devices. SiC cascode and SiC MOSFET are among the most promising candidates. The SiC cascode consists of a JFET (normally ON) in series with a MOSFET. In this study, operation modes for Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) in half bridge topology have been analyzed. SiC cascode, SiC MOSFET and Si IGBT device with very similar voltage and current ratings are chosen and simulated using Pspice. The results are compared with regard to efficiency, switching performance and conduction losses in half bridge topology at different frequencies from 38.41 kHz to 50 kHz. The turn on and turn off characteristics obtained from simulation are provided and compared to each other. All power devices are assumed to be at ZVS condition. SiC cascode turned out to be the most efficient among all, and SiC MOSFET was better than Si IGBT in terms of switching performance. In the light of these findings, it is logical to assume that in the future we might see more SiC devices used in induction cookers.

Agricultural applications (farming) is one of the oldest profession for humankind. On the other hand, there are so many methods applied to keep plants health and condition in full life cycle to achieve sustainable without any chemical effects to human labor and to the environment as an output. This study represents design, build and testing of a low cost semi-autonomous robot called "X-Bot" to achieve agricultural tasks more efficient and precise by using current technological advancements. Main goal of this project is to design, fabricate, program a low-cost mobile robotic system to perform pesticide spraying and insect repelling tasks in the field efficiently without seeking any human interaction during operation.

This paper presents an investigation of numerical modeling of SiGe HBT (Silicon-Germanium heterojunction Bipolar Transistor). For this, we consider three models: the so called Drift Diffusion Model (DDM), the Isothermal Energy Balance model (EB) and the Non-Isothermal Energy Balance model (NEB). The considered devices correspond to the BiCMOS6G 0.35pm industrial processes and are dedicated to radiofrequency applications. The numerical device modeling considers Technology CAD (TCAD) simulation. The DDM model describes the classical transport in semiconductor devices. The energy balance model describes the energy transport. This model is coupled with thermionic emission transport. The NEB model permits to take into account the non-uniform distribution of the carrier's temperature. Some typical numerical results are presented such as the current-tension curve, Gummel curves and cutoff frequency for the three models. For submicron devices, it is clear that it is necessary to take into account the phenomena such as thermionic emission and the non-uniform distribution of the carriers.

Helicopters utilization is not limited to military and surveillance applications but they are also used for transporting heavy loads from one place to another because of their vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities. However slung load is drastically affected by disturbances around the system making difficult for helicopter to regain control. Tip vortices at the blades induce velocity which not only effect blades but also degrade performance of the whole system by creating vibrations. This paper proposes control technique based on sliding mode control utilizing linear matrix inequality to keep payload unaffected in the presence of rotor downwash and time varying air disturbances during hovering. With the help of proposed controller desired trajectory is achieved due to its robustness and variable control structure.

The major limitation of the multicarrier system in 5G is the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). PAPR is a crucial parameter for representing 5G waveform candidates, such as UFMC, FBMC, and GFDM. The higher PAPR induces the signal to be in the saturation region of high power amplifier (HPA). Hybrid PAPR diminishment technique is discussed in this paper. To attack PAPR problem, in this paper, a new adaptive level algorithm with a hybrid PAPR reduction scheme is proposed. A hybrid optimized repeated clipping and filtering combined with a companding scheme (Hybrid-ORCC) is presented. The main objective of this system is to reduce PAPR of OFDM with a minor degradation in the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. The ORPC PAPR value has been reduced by 7.5 dB and then the Hybrid-ORCC reduce the final PAPR by 2 dB. PAPR reduction plays an important role in diminishing the system power consumption. Extensive MATLAB simulations show that the hybrid technique outperforms the conventional clipping techniques by reducing the PAPR to its optimal value.

Static test is an important test to perform during a rocket operation testing. As the name indicates, it is performed under a static condition. The main information to obtain from this type of test is the rocket thrust force. This paper describes a method to measure the thrust force based on the utilization of a load cell sensor. Unlike the previous analog measurement methods, this paper proposes the use of digital measurement method. The measurement results are to be displayed in a form of graphics and tables in a real-time way, so that the distance traveled by rocket as well as its speed can be estimated. An estimation method based on the optimum thrust force approach has been explored. The measurement data can either be stored in a database system using Microsoft Access or in a microSD card to facilitate the flexibility in transferring data to other equipments.
