Effective mitigation of photo-darkening By Na+ ions doping in Yb-doped fibers 掺镱光纤中Na+离子对光变暗的抑制作用

In this work, Na+ ions doping into the Yb-doped fiber was proposed to improve the photo-darkening resistance. The results show that the photo-darkening induced excess loss at 702 nm was 37.26dB/m at equilibrium state. More than 50% excess loss was reduced comparing to Yb-doped fiber without Na+ ions.

We propose a low-loss and low-crosstalk Mach-Zehnder mode multi/demultiplexer for WDM/MDM transmission. A broadband 3dB mode divider, which is also newly devised here, makes it possible to compose Mach-Zehnder filter for “mode” and “wavelength” simultaneously.

Vector solitons in mode-locked fiber lasers by fast-axis instability 快轴不稳定性锁模光纤激光器中的矢量孤子

Fast-axis instability in mode-locked fiber lasers is demonstrated numerically. The fast-axis instability manifests as the fast mode transferring its energy to the slow mode when the pulse energy is strong enough. The instability is caused by the strong nonlinear birefringence compensating for the linear birefringence.
用数值方法证明了锁模光纤激光器的快轴不稳定性。当脉冲能量足够强时,快轴失稳表现为快模向慢模转移能量。不稳定性是由强非线性双折射补偿线性双折射引起的。

We fabricate a helical long period grating (HLPG) in a multicore fiber. A fiber torsion sensor with directional discrimination based on the HLPG is experimentally demonstrated. The resonant dips offer the ability of simultaneously measurement of torsion and temperature.

Lasing characteristics of GalnAsP stripe laser integrated on InP/Si substrate InP/Si衬底集成GalnAsP条纹激光器的激光特性

We have successfully obtained GalnAsP stripe laser grown on InP/Si substrate by MOVPE. InP/Si substrate was prepared by direct wafer bonding technique using epitaxial grown 1μm thickness InP and silicon substrate. 1.2μm wavelength GalnAsP double heterostructure laser was grown by MOVPE, and stripe laser was fabricated using standard SiO2 deposition and lithography. Room temperature lasing was obtained under pulsed condition.

A graphene-gold photo-detector produced enhanced photocurrent due to absorbed surface plasmons with p-polarized near IR excitation light, when compared with s-polarized light. Charge doping was characterized by Raman spectroscopy at different positions on the graphene.

Silicon nitride fiber-to-waveguide inverse taper edge couplers with double tips are designed and simulated. Double tip edge couplers show a coupling efficiency improvement over single tip couplers at visible wavelengths, which is crucial for loss sensitive quantum optics applications. A loss optimized 2×1 MMI coupler is designed for use as a mode converter in double tip edge couplers.

We demonstrate optical frequency comb generation using an optical I-Q modulator. By adopting the modulation scheme such as double-sideband suppressed-carrier modulation, frequency spacing of the generated comb has broadened to 20 GHz, corresponding to double of driving RF signal frequency.
