The authors have proposed a new approach to the theory of consciousness, which takes into account the effect of the magnetic field on the process. The authors have shown that the process of information and thinking can be modeled on the basis of chemical thermodynamics. The authors offer general equations to calculate the thinking of the work of judgment the L and of entropy solutions G in the presence of a magnetic field. As a result, studies have shown that the magnetic effects strongly influence the thermodynamics of the process of thinking.

In this work, a procedure to simulate the MD (molecular distillation) process for lactic acid purification was developed. The simulation was carried out with the aid of the Aspen Plus Process Simulator. Flash vessel was used to represent the MD process since the software does not present this unit operation. The simulation results with efficiency factors were in agreement with previously reported experimental data.

FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) declared that 12% of the world’s population is undernourished while in Mexico the number is around 5%. Minerals are essential for the daily diet; iron (Fe) is an important mineral on human welfare because it has a main role on the function of the immune and central nervous systems, among others. Most Mexicans fulfill their iron requirements from vegetables, which are poorly absorbed; nevertheless, in coastal populations, where seafood-rich in ironis available, it is not consumed on a regular diet. The aim of this work was to analyze minerals, focusing on the iron content of Octopus hubbsorum B (Cephalopoda: Octopodidae), an animal of the Mexican Pacific coast. Three specimens were analyzed, two from the north and one from central Pacific Ocean. Data obtained for the central Pacific Octopus was 0.008% and data for the North Pacific were 0.008% and 0.011%, repectively. In conclusion, the supply of iron for the Mexican diet provided by Octopus hubbsorum B is significant, therefore is recommended to consume more of this resource, to diminish iron deficiency, a world-wide problem, and to improve human health.

Bis[1-methoxy-2,2,2-tris-(pyrazol-1-yl-κN)ethane]-copper(II) bis-perchlorate (2) was synthesized by reacting of pyrazole based tripodal scorpionate ligand 1-methoxy-2,2,2-tris(pyrazol-1-yl)ethane (1) with copper(II) perchlorate hexahydrate in methanol, acetonitrile and water mixture as solvent. Slow evaporation of the filtered reaction mixture in air produced blue color block crystals suitable for single crystal X-ray diffraction study of the title complex. Compound 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with unit cell parameters, a = 8.1269(1) Ả, b = 21.8348(2)Ả, c = 9.1522(1) Å, α = γ = 90o, β = 99.7611(4)o. The structure of the compound was characterized by IR Spectroscopy, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Attenuating mediums, targets and barriers made of submicronic layers with low average atomic number (low Z) and minimal electronic density that reduces the elastic scattering and absorption of radiation are required for many applications. This work describes the development and characterization of submicronic Lexan (Polycarbonate) polymer foils with low Z for two new electron inelastic mean free path assessment methods. Lexan layers with thicknesses of 120 nm to 240 nm were developed and fabricated using spin coating. The submicronic layers were characterized by AFM and CSI for thickness, roughness and levelness. Roughness was found to be 1.0-2.4 nm rms, and the change in total thickness was within ± 7.5%. The results of total current measurements using 177 nm Lexan foil irradiated under an SEM electron beam were compared to those for a similar polymer foil. The first step of a wide spectrum method experiment was performed at the ESRF using Lexan submicronic layers on a silicon substrate. The signal peak and the multiple inelastic scattering peak of the Lexan spectrum was similar to those previously measured on carbon films. This study supported the suitability of the developed Lexan films for electron scattering measurements.

Carotenoids have attracted greater attention due to the beneficial role on human health. It is an essential nutrient and has some biological functions such as species-specific coloration, photoprotection, light absorbing, which is an important component because of its role as precursor of vitamin A. In this study was performed the production of β-Carotene by Rhodotorula glutinis UCP/WFCC 1555 in presence and absence of blue and white using LED (light-emitting diodes) and evaluation of the cytotoxic effect. The production was investigated in low cost medium constituted by different concentrations of CG (crude glycerin) and CSL (corn steep liquor) from the CCD (Central Composite Design) and the identification and yield of the β-Carotene was investigated by chromatographic profile (HPLC). Additionally, the β-Carotene produced was tested to evaluate its cytotoxic effect in human tumor cells MCF-7 (breast cancer) and HL-60 (promyelocytic leukemia) and healthy cells of macrophages. The results showed that in the medium composed by 6% glycerin and 0.6% corn steep liquor, in the absence of light, occurred the maximum production of total carotenoids with values of 160 μg·g and these 100.60 μg·g correspond to the β-Carotene that showed ability in inhibit cell growth in several tumor cells such as MCF-7 cells (breast cancer) and HL-60 (promyelocytic leukemia).

Adsorption experiment from aqueous solutions containing known amount of chromium (Cr) using hybrid membrane of chitosan and silicon dioxide was explored to evaluate the efficiency of the membrane as sorbent for Cr(VI). Some variable parameters such as pH, contact time and the dosage of the membrane were optimized. Adsorption isotherms of Cr(VI) onto the hybrid membrane were measured with varying initial concentrations under optimized condition. Furthermore, the sorption mechanism of Cr by the membrane was investigated by applying Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations to the data obtained. The surface morphology of the membrane was determined by SEM (scanning electron microscope) for material characterization. The concentrations of Cr in solution are determined by ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry). Hybrid membrane of chitosan and silicon dioxide can be an efficient sorbent for Cr(VI).

The authors have proposed a new approach to the theory of formation of phosphine from phosphates and death. According to this hypothesis, the initial impetus for the beginning of the dying process is the formation of phosphates and phosphine decomposition of adenosine triphosphate molecule. This process makes people survived clinical death vision of “blue and white tunnel” and the separation of the soul from the body. The authors proposed chemical mechanism for the recovery of phosphate to phosphine.
