This paper presents the holonic theory, which is an attempt to develop in a single model the explanation of the evolution in the physic, biologic and cultural dimensions. The purpose of this development is to understand the traits of nowadays common holism, which is considered a necessary thinking practice in different domains, among them education. A phenomenological study has been developed connecting diverse noospheric holons. The results allow for a characterization of the holonic structure of a holistic consciousness act. This characterization is used to define holistic education: An education with the dimensions of preservation, profundity, projective action and span. The article can be read as a contribution to provide ontological and epistemological bases for going beyond the modern worldview and the widespread postmodern syncretism. These findings help in providing a framework for today’s holistic pedagogical debates and developments.

The purpose of the study was to further investigate the validity of the instrument used for collecting preservice teachers’ perceptions of self-efficacy adapting the three-level hierarchical generalized linear modeling (HGLM) model. To serve the purpose, the study used data collected by the research team which elicited preservices teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs using Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES). Hierarchical generalized linear modeling (HGLM) were used to analyze the data. Results of the HGLM analyses (at level-two) showed that one item in the scale displayed gender DIF. Another item became DIF item when the context variable was added to the level-two model. However, the effect of the context on the DIF item was not big.

Since higher education research has emerged from pedagogy, many studies have long failed to place higher education within the education system. In a multidisciplinary perspective, higher education issues are more often seen as social issues shared by disciplines than purely educational issues. Due to the lack of pedagogical perspectives, higher education studies are not well-known, and higher education research has become a broad multidisciplinary field with no roots. Although at the organizational level, the current higher education research has made progress in the institutionalization of disciplines, higher education has also obtained disciplines in universities in China, However, at the level of disciplines, research on higher education must reflect or not.
