64 jaundiced neonates were measured with transcutaneous bilirubinometer for the jaundice index on the forehead and superciliary narch where was covered during photo therapy respectively. The result showed that the jaundice index in the uncovered place decreased greatly after the therapy was over, but the index went up again 12 hours later. The index on the covered place did not show this change. It is suggested that the covered place is a better site for measuring jaundice index because it can avoid the effect of phototherapy on the measuring result and make the result more accurate.

Sleep quality and psychical health were investigated with Pittsburgh Sleeping Quality Index (PSQI) and SCL-90 in 128 patients with hyperthyroidism. The results showed that: 1. The PSQI scores of the patients with ages over 35 years old were higher than that less than 35 years old (P < 0.05). 2. Sleep problems occurred in 87.55% of the patients. Sleep quality of 9.38% of patients were worse. The sleep quality of the female patients were better than the male (P < 0.05). 3. Apart from interpersonal sensitivity, paranoid ideation and psychoticism, scores of the rest were higher than the general people (P < 0.05). 10.2% of the patients with hyperthyroidism had psychical problems. 4. Apart from sleep time and using sleep pill, there was a high correlation between the scores of SCL-90 and PSQI (P < 0.05-P < 0.001). The results showed that sleep problems of the patients with hyperthyroidism affected their psychical health. Lower sleep quality was a main dangerous factor which affected psychical health of the patients with hyperthyroidism.

To explore the factors of effect on social disability of schizophrenics and nursing to the schizophrenics, 100 discharged schizophrenics were investigated and studied, with Social Disability Screening Schedule (SDSS) and questionnaire of factors of effect on social disability. The result showed SDSS scores of 53% schizophrenics were over or equal 2, and the social disability were significant positive correlated with patient's age, treatment effect, education, psychosocial factors, compliance, recovery confidence, working chance, and family monthly average income. The result suggested that nursing of three aspect, including mental care, family education, and social support, was benefit for reducing the social disability of schizophrenics.
