This study undertook a critical survey, discussion and analysis of development communication as a strategy to curb Nigeria’s security questions. This is because a state must assure her citizens, non citizens and investors of internal security; various stakeholders must themselves act collectively, thereby employing emerging communication trends and paradigm on participatory dialogical communications. This paper employed desk research method to source data for the study. The study revealed that without a consistent social process of communication for development which must be based on dialogue, using participatory and ownership approaches by communities and individual affected by insecurity, unemployment, poverty and other developmental issues; the evidence to demonstrate the value of efforts by the respective governments and institutions will not be seen. The study, in view of security challenges facing the nation, recommended that all stakeholders should adopt policies and legislation at all levels that will provide enabling environment for communication for development to encourage media freedom and individual rights to information and communication towards a secured society. More also, strengthening networks and partnership at all levels to advance communication for development which will in turn advance security outcomes.

Though contemporary Anglophone Cameroonian pop music songs are American-oriented with rhythmic characteristics of R&B, Rap and hip hop, they essentially display multiculturalism through code-switching, qualifying them as purely Cameroonian lyrics. This paper seeks to describe the patterns of combination of codes during code-switching and demonstrate that a typical Anglophone Cameroonian contemporary pop music singer performs in two or three categories of languages, namely, official languages (English and / or French); pidgins (Cameroon Pidgin English and/ or Camfranglais) and indigenous language(s) which could be the artist’s mother tongue or simply another Cameroonian home language. The data for this paper consist of sixty Cameroonian popular songs performed by twenty Anglophone Cameroonian artists. The data were descriptively analysed using the qualitative and quantitative methods. The paper validates that code-switching in Anglophone Cameroon Pop music consists of bilingual, trilingual, quadrilingual and pentalingual code-switching patterns with Pidgin English as the dominant language that cuts across all patterns of combination. The paper concludes that multilingual display, which stands as a sine qua non in Anglophone Cameroon contemporary pop music lyrics, manifests itself mostly through code-switching andt permits artists to connect with multiple linguistic and tribal groups of people to pass through their message(s), to the widest possible audience, and communicate their emotions while, at the same time, enhancing aesthetics.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused immense damage to the world, including its impact on the global economy and public health. The pandemic has also exposed the weaknesses in the healthcare and economic systems. While many factors have influenced the global COVID-19 pandemic, there is a lack of research on the key shapers of COVID-19 and their importance. This article explores this issue through the perspectives of media, narratives of COVID-19-infected individuals, and visual images. The impact of COVID-19 on the global pandemic is analyzed from the viewpoint of self-reports and visual images of COVID-19-infected individuals. The paper suggests ways to improve preparedness for future global health crises by analyzing these issues and ensuring that we can learn from the pandemic’s memory.

This paper compares and analyzes the insulation structure of the vacuum interrupter, focusing on the influence of the mechanical characteristics and the structure of the shield on the insulation, and establishes an electric field calculation model for the axisymmetric structure of the vacuum interrupter. Finally, the radius of the conductive rod and the thickness of the contact are compared and optimized, and then the thickness of the shield is compared and calculated, and then simulated and analyzed with ANSYS software to verify the optimization direction.

In reviewing the century-long history of the China, the Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border area during the Anti-Japanese War was in a difficult war period in terms of time and in a very backward northwestern interior in terms of space, but the government built the Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border area into a society of “ten no” and became a democratic anti-Japanese base area. Its valuable experience is an important inspiration for socialist modernization under the rapid development and changes in the world.

On September 15, 2021, the US, UK, and Australia launched the Trilateral Security Partnership (AUKUS) in reaction to China’s increasing influence in the Indo-Pacific area. In reaction to China’s growth, this “small multilateral framework” based on “shared values” seeks to bolster US hegemony in the area by boosting military capability projection in the Indo-Pacific region. It is an example of the international nuclear non-proliferation system returning, which weakens it, causes disagreements among ASEAN nations, and upsets the balance of power in the Indo-Pacific area, all of which have a detrimental effect on the regional security situation. However, there are some fragile ties between the US and its allies, and the US-created AUKUS alliance’s prospects are dim given the lengthy and unpredictable time it takes for nuclear submarine cooperation to take hold.

This study aims to interpret the ecological meaning of discourse from system-functional linguistics perspective and analyses the ecological diplomacy ideas embedded in reporting, and to guide people to develop an ecological consciousness of living in harmony with nature through the analysis of ecological orientations. The study explores the ecological factors in the participant, process and environmental components. The results show that in terms of participant role distribution, material process participants and relational process participants account for the largest proportion. In terms of transitivity processes, the focus is on the use of material and relational processes. In terms of the distribution of circumstantial element, there are significant differences in the use of ecological discourse in coverage. The idea of ecological diplomacy is also implicitly reflected in the coverage.

One of the most promising economic arenas in the coming decades is the ocean and there are currently numerous initiatives to the ‘blue economy’ discourse that revolves around the argument that small-scale fishers’ livelihoods require greater attention. To synthesize current scientific knowledge and address prevailing research gaps surrounding this discourse, I conduct a scoping review of global literature on the blue economy, blue growth, social equity, and Small-Scale Fisheries (SSF) analyse different international policy papers and national-level blue economy plans. To explore the need for further research, this review focuses on how different aspects of the blue economy risks lead to inequity in the pursuit of ocean sustainability. Based on the initial content analysis, I identify evidence for undermining social equity and justice related to the ocean and find that social equity is often overlooked in national-level blue economy and blue growth initiatives. This overlooking leads to or accelerates processes of coastal and ocean grabbing, displacement, dispossession, and exclusion which strongly impact the livelihoods of marginalized coastal communities, particularly, small-scale fishers in various parts of the world. The collected evidence suggests that there is a missing link between international policy deliberations and national-level implementation plans in the blue economy context. Numerous studies claim that critical re-thinking of policies is required to ensure the sustainability of blue economy trajectories. Unchecked economic growth in the ocean as in other realms can reinforce inequities and unjust and inequitable resource distribution patterns. To pre-empt, mitigate, and resolve likely conflicts, deeper insights are needed to address the impacts of the blue economy and blue growth on coastal livelihoods. I suggest investigating the causes of conflict and further research on how governance responds to sustain small-scale fisheries while embracing the blue economy and blue growth agendas.
