Background: Citation analyses have been used to understand the impact that a group of publications has on its field. As the techniques and indications of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) continue to expand, it is important to identify articles that can orient readers to the history, evolution, and current status of the body of RTSA literature. The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the 50 most-cited articles related to RTSA.
Methods: Various Boolean queries were searched on the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science. Information collected included author name, publication year, country of origin, journal name, article type, total number of citations, and level of evidence.
Results: Top 50 most-cited articles amassed a total of 10,521 citations. The most-cited article was cited a total of 766 times. The most common study designs were case series (28) and cohort studies (9). Authors from the United States (24) contributed the most to included papers, followed by France (19) and Switzerland (8).
Discussion: The most-cited articles on RTSA are expert opinions, case studies, and cohort studies published by American authors. As RTSA continues to grow over the next decade, studies with higher levels-of-evidence may overtake articles included in this analysis.

Monomorphic epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma (MEITL) of gastrointestinal tract is an aggressive T-cell lymphoma that can rarely involve the brain. We present detailed descriptions of clinical and autopsy neuropathological findings of a rare case of an elderly woman who had surgery and chemotherapy for MEITL of the small intestine. Following her surgery, she progressively exhibited neurologic decline towards the end of her treatment. The patient eventually succumbed to her illness and was found to have MEITL with intracranial involvement on autopsy. Brain autopsy was performed and examination of tissues with hematoxylin-eosin staining under optical microscopy with 100 X magnification. Immunostaining for CD3, CD4, CD5, CD7, CD8, CD56, CD20, beta-amyloid, c-Myc, TCR-beta, TCR-delta, and EBER-ish was conducted on the formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) brain tissues. A neuropathological exam revealed multifocal friable necrotic and hemorrhagic areas in the supratentorial region. Histologically, monotonous small to medium-sized atypical lymphocytes infiltrated the brain parenchyma, prominently around the vessels. The immunophenotype of the atypical lymphocytes was positive for CD-3, CD-7, and CD-56 and negative for CD-5, CD-4, CD-8, CD-20, and c-Myc. EBER-ish was negative. The histology and immunophenotype confirmed the MEITL brain involvement. Neurologic decline and cognitive changes in patients with known MEITL can be the first clue of brain involvement upon which prompt evaluation is warranted.

Middle Arabic is conventionally defined as existing on a spectrum between colloquial Arabic on the low end and Classical Arabic on the high end. Differences between Middle Arabic and Classical Arabic that are not attested in a modern dialect are typically treated, historically at least, as due to pseudo-correction. This is especially true of non-Classical manifestations of nominal case. In this paper, I tag all instances of alif al-tanwīn – which in Qurʾānic and Classical Arabic marks the accusative on triptotic nouns that do not end in tāʾ marbūṭa – from representative portions of the manuscripts, both vocalized and unvocalized, of 15 Christian translations of the gospels into Arabic dating from the 9th to 15th centuries CE. The data demonstrate, contrary to previous descriptions, that the majority of case inflection is written in line with Classical Arabic norms. Further, the syntactic contexts in which non-Classical case markings occur follow regular patterns, which recur with remarkable consistency across time and manuscript. Instead of originating in pseudo-corrections, I propose the differences from Classical Arabic originated in attempts by Christian scribes to represent a variety of Arabic in which a vowel merger before tanwīn resulting in a single morpheme erased the vocalic distinctions between case vowels. These syntactic contexts include nominative, genitive, and accusative ones. Since Christian Arabic differed from the varieties for which the Arabic script and subsequent vocalizations were developed to write, scribes originally varied in the degree to which they adhered to the writing conventions, with some closely adhering and others taking greater liberties in order to represent the underlying variety with greater nuance. Over time, this led to several scribal traditions for writing tanwīn in Christian manuscripts, each of which is attested among the vocalized manuscripts included in this study and discussed in detail.
