As new antitumor drugs to soft tissue sarcoma (STS) have been approved, clinical data about the patterns of treatment of STS patients were reported from many Western countries, but those from Asia were lacking. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of 273 STS patients consulted medical oncologists in the multidisciplinary team in the cancer center, and the data might help considering treatment strategies to STS patients.

Pros and Challenges to Pharmacists in Prescribing Practice. 药师在处方实践中的优势与挑战。

Pharmacists are the hearts of health care team and independent prescribers in United Kingdom and other developed countries. Nowadays pharmacists oriented to patient care rather traditional mercantile products orientation. Clinical Pharmacy is the combined agreement between physician and pharmacist in which pharmacist prescribing and providing patient care. The health care team is fragile in the absence of pharmacist, literature supported prescription by pharmacists and the members include physicians, stakeholders and patients, but some physicians not supported them due to loss of dignity, deskilled junior physicians and some considered them deficient of well diagnostic skills. Provision of drug therapy without competent clinical pharmacist is impossible and incomplete. The implementation of pharmacists prescribing can effectively decrease burdens and workload from the shoulders of physicians to provide them time for complex diseases, facilitate pharmacists regarding jobs issues instead of five years degree of Doctor of Pharmacy, patient counseling and educations, reduction of polypharmacy and iatrogenic diseases as well as to stabilize the health care triangle.

Evaluation of Neuroprotective Property of Madhunashini Vati in Diabetic Rat 麻瓜对糖尿病大鼠神经保护作用的评价

The present study was designed to evaluate the Neuroprotection property of Madhunashini Vati in Diabetic Rat. Eight groups of rat and each group comprising of six animals were employed in the present study. During the experiment different doses of Madhunashini Vati (125, 250, 500 mg/kg) was administered. Insulin (4 IU/kg body weight s.c) was administered daily before the global ischemia in diabetic rats. Rats were treated with Streptozotocin (STZ) 65 mg/kg i.p for the induction of Diabetes for 14 days. Rats were anaesthetized by using chloral hydrate (400 mg/kg, i.p) and Global cerebral ischemia was induced by occluding the carotid arteries, reperfusion was allowed for 24 hours. At the end of study, total Serum Glucose level, Serum Triglyceride level, Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances(TBARS) and Cerebral Infarct size was estimated for the Neuroprotection property. Administration of Madhunashini Vati, showed reduction in the serum glucose level, serum triglycerides level, cerebral infarct size and increases in body weight. In the present study we observed that the madhunashini vati significantly improved cerebral ischemia. Results indicate that Madhunashini Vati (MV) is a good neuroprotective and could be used as a therapeutic treatment in brain stroke. And it is likely to be responsible for the free radical scavenging activity and rejuvenate the beta cells observed.

Development and validation of an Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for gentamicin quantification in dried blood spot samples 开发和验证酶联免疫吸附法(ELISA)定量庆大霉素在干血斑样品

A competitive enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) procedure has been developed for the quantification of gentamicin in dried blood spot (DBS) samples collected from paediatric patients on Guthrie cards. Gentamicin was extracted from DBS samples by vortexing with the ELISA extraction buffer for 30 minutes. The ELISA assay was successfully validated using ICH guidelines for assay validation over the concentration range of 0.15-2.5 μg/ml. The standard deviation, mean, coefficient of variation (CV%) and relative error (RE%) were evaluated and demonstrated good assay reproducibility. The validated ELISA method can be applied to clinical DBS samples. This assay will be utilised to quantify gentamicin in DBS samples collected from paediatric (premature neonatal) patients, in which the quantification data will be utilised for population pharmacokinetic studies of gentamicin in premature neonates.

A pilot study to evaluate alternative approaches for treatment of urinary tract infections in dogs. 一项初步研究,评估治疗狗尿路感染的替代方法。

Bacteria represent the most common cause of urinary tract infection. Antimicrobial drugs are the cornerstone of treatment of urinary bacterial infections. Because of the chronic nature of urinary bacterial infections urinary tract infection (UTI) and the potential for antibiotic resistance, a natural approach to prevention and treatment is desirable. This study evaluated the efficacy of a polyphenolic extract obtained from cranberries and Citrus aurantium. The product was daily orally administered to 10 dogs with bacterial cystitis for a period of 60 days. The results obtained, despite of the small population under study, suggest a potential efficacy of the product in treating bacterial cystitis.

The present research work was design to investigate the anti-diabetic effect of Crude Soy lecithin (CSL) in combination with Flavonoids. Various dosed of CSL, quercetin and rutin were standardized and effective dose of CSL, quercetin and rutin was selected. Male Sprague Dawley rats weighing (200-225 g) were subjected to overnight fasting to induced diabetics by STZ (60 mg/kg i.p.) and blood sample was collected after 72 hrs to conform diabetics. Rats with blood glucose level ≥ 200 mg/dl were selected for further study. A dose of combination of CSL and quercetin with rutin p.o. was administered 60 min prior to blood sample withdrawal for estimation of glucose level. Positive control group were treated with STZ injected rats and negative control with metformin (100 mg/kg bw). Effect of CSL in combination with Flavonoids on Blood glucose level, Total Cholesterol level and Total Triglyceride level was evaluated. The results suggested treatment with CSL, quercetin and rutin were significantly decrease plasma glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride level in rats as compared to STZDiabetic rats. CSL show anti-diabetic effect alone and in combination with Flavonoids on STZ Induced Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in Rats.

Assessment of prescription patterns and drug use across the Kurdistan region. 库尔德斯坦地区处方模式和药物使用评估。

Errors in drug prescriptions are the most common preventable medication errors encountered in clinical practices worldwide. The aim of this research is to examine the pattern of prescriptions and drug use in the Kurdistan region and to determine whether the drug prescribing was based on rational therapeutic consideration. A cross sectional-observational study was conducted in the Kurdistan region of Iraq over a period of five months. A total of 1000 prescriptions were selected randomly from different pharmacies and data obtained from each prescription. In these prescriptions a total of 2878 medications were prescribed. The percentage of medications including antibiotics, supplement, non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs and other painkillers 51.8%, 44.2%, 31.8%, and 21.8% per encounter respectively. The average number of drugs per prescription was 2.8. Drugs prescribed by generic name were 27% and more than 98 per cent of prescriptions were handwritten. The duration of therapy was mentioned in 56.5% of prescriptions. However, the dose and dosage form of medications were recorded 62% and 87.3% respectively. The percentage of prescriptions signed by the prescriber was 88.1%.

Docking study and result conclusion of heterocyclic derivatives having urea and acyl moiety. 脲酰基杂环衍生物的对接研究及结果结论。

In the field of molecular modeling, Docking is a method which predicts the preferred orientation of one molecule to a second when bound to each other to form a stable complex. Knowledge of the preferred orientation in turn may be used to predict the strength of association or binding affinity between two molecules. In this study a series of synthesized compounds were evaluated for focusing on binding modes, potential interactions and specific binding sites. Chemically compounds bear both the moiety acyl as well as urea and their interaction by using in silico study was investigated with beta tubulin protein that interferes with the tubulin-microtubule equilibrium, crucial for cellular mitosis. In silico studies revealed that synthesized and tested compounds show 1-7 no. of interactions with amino acids of tubulin protein. Docking study was done by using Autodock, it was found that among different synthesized compound some shows the highest and best scoring pose (lowest energy) which was -2.94 Kcal/mole between N (11) and Leucine (113) and -3.09 between N (11) and Alanine (149). Compounds with amino, hydroxy, methyl, methoxy, trimethoxy and dimethoxy substitution in derivatives of acyl urea gave an idea that urea and acyl when used in combination in different synthesized compounds show good antitumor activity.
