Dielectric Properties of Ferroelectric Lead Hydrogen Phosphate Single Crystals 铁电磷酸氢铅单晶的介电性质

The ferroelectric lead hydrogen phosphate (LHP) single crystals have been grown by employing the gel technique. The controlled reaction between lead nitrate and orthophosphoric acid solutions by diffusion process in gel medium has been used. The dielectric constant (ϵ′) and the dielectric loss (ϵ″) have been measured for the first time as a function of frequency in the range 102 to 104 Hz. They have also been determined as a function of temperatures in the range 300 to 680 K. The polarisation effect contributing to the dielectric constant has been studied. It has been observed that the mechanism of the dielectric behaviour is different in the lower and higher temperatur and frequency ranges. The activation energy of the oscillators has been calculated and found to be 1.12 eV. Attempt has been made to draw some qualitative conclusions, taking in view, the existing theories of various kinds of polarization and implications have been discussed.

Microhardness Investigations on Gel-grown Barium-Cadmium Oxalate Mixed Crystals 凝胶生长的草酸钡镉混合晶体显微硬度研究

Microhardness characteristics of barium-cadmium oxalate crystals were undertaken using the indentation technique and the results there of are reported. The observed results were compared with the microhardness values of barium oxalate dihydrate and cadmium oxalate trihydrate crystals. The indentation induced cracks etched in 1N HCl reveal the surface of the dislocation pattern arround indentation mark. The mixed crystals show higher values of microhardness than the components barium oxalate dihydrate and cadmium oxalate trihydrate crystals.

A New Technique for Measuring Thickness of Thin Solid Films 测量固体薄膜厚度的新技术

A new technique has been developed for measuring the thickness parameter for any thin solid films. Various thin films of silver, aluminium and antimony have been prepared by using vacuum evaporation plant at the vacuum of 10−5 torr. The films have been scratched by a fine metal pin. By employing a semi-silvered cylindrical convex lens, a point contact has been established between a silvered scratch-film and a cylindrical lens. Multiple beam Fizeau interference fringes have been obtained over the surface of thin films. Across the step of the scratch, because of height difference, the shift in the fringes have been observed. Due to the axis of point contact, no ambiguity in allocation of ringe order has been obtained. The thicknesses of silver, aluminium and antimony thin films have been determined very precisely. The technique gives high resolution with a good degree of reproducibility and implications are discussed.

A series of aluminium hydroxocarbonate hydrates were prepared by precipitation from aluminium nitrate solution, with five sodium hydrogen carbonate-sodium carbonate solutions of different pH, at ambient temperature. The course of precipitation was monitored by pH measurement and the final precipitate compositions were determined by chemical analysis, infra-red spectrophotometry, X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. Precipitation generally occurred through three stages, primary precipitation of materials with low carbonate content at low pH with evolution of carbon dioxide, their dissolution to form hydroxcarbonato anions and then secondary reprecipitation of the final products at higher pH. These materials were mixtures of polyhydroxoaluminium carbonate hydrates of general composition Aln(OH)3n-2CO3 · hH2O (where n = 2, 4, 6 and h = 6–8); their CO3 content increased with increasing pH and carbonate anion content of the precipitant solution.
