Objective: To know the psychometric properties of the APS in a sample of university students from the city of Ambato, Ecuador. Method: This is an instrumental research, which analyzes the factorial structure, reliability and temporal validity and convergence with the Castilian version of the Busko Academic Procrastination Scale. The sample was composed of 290 students (76.6% female) from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador - Ambato. Results: The Factorial Analysis shows the structure of the test with two factors that justifies 53.1 % of the variance with values of B-S X2 (53) = 119.1; p <0.001; CFI = 0.90; GFI = 0.92; AGFI = 0.89 and RMSEA = 0.076; IC: 90% [0.006 - 0.009]. In addition, it is reliable among the item scores (α =, 83) and stable in temporal terms (r =, 778) with three weeks of interval. It also converges moderately with the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (r =, 594). Conclusion: The academic procrastination test shows favorable results of validity and reliability in Ecuadorian students.

Objective: To analyze occupational functioning, health’s perception and work capacity of social assistance workers in the municipality of Uberaba, Brazil. Method: 41 workers were evaluated through a socio-demographic and occupational questionnaire, the self-evaluation scale of Occupational Functioning (SAOF) and the Index of Capacity for Work (ICT). A descriptive analysis was carried out as well as Spearman and Mann-Whitney-U correlations. Results: Sample with an average of 40 years (65,9 % female) and 56,1 % occupied higher level functions. The majority (70,8%) evaluated their health as good / very good; 29,2 %, as regular / bad / very bad. The ICT average was 38.88 points (DP = 6.8) with a significant association with the variables: sex (p = 0.028), higher level function (p = 0.039), pain (p = 0.004), and health perception (p = 0.008). WC and occupational functioning were correlated in the following fields: personal causality (p = 0.029), habits (p = 0.011), skill (p = 0.011), and environment (p = 0.006). Conclusion: Capacity for work was associated with pain, worse health perception, higher level functions, sex, worse personal causality, unhealthy habits and lower repertoire of skills and environment.

Objective: To understand the perceptions of homeless people under alcohol and drug treatment of the Psychosocial Support Network (PSN) of a city in southern Brazil. Method: Information was gathered through semi-structured interviews applied to fifteen men, aged between 24 and 61 years old, who had been homeless from 2 months to 8 years. Interviews took place in the Psychosocial Care Center for the treatment of alcohol and other drugs that have CAPS ad III beds. Data was analyzed through the Perspective of Discursive Practices which hold two categories: experiences before accessing PSN and experiences after accessing PSN. Results: There is lack of information about existing services and concerns about accessing them. Bureaucracy within the network was also another factor affecting the perception, resulting in low intersectoriality. On the other hand, participants reported on fundamental reception experiences to re-signify the relationship with health teams and to open up the search for treatment. . Conclusion: There is a lack of information about existing services and distrust on the part of users to access them

The aim of this work is to make a state of art in this field. It was made an exahustive search of the researchs made in the last 10 years. For the other side, it was collected the WHO's and OPS's intervention guides and plans. It were used the follow data base: Dialnet, Latindez, Redalic and the Argentina’s Ministery of Science Repository (in spanish and potuguese) and ERIC and PubMed (in english). The key words from the thesaurus were: psychology, primary health care, first level of care, mental health and multidiciplinary work. The researchs converges in their results: there is a lack of multidiciplinary work and there is a practice centered in individual care. But the differents reasearchs does not converge in the explanation of the causes of this state of things. The WHO and the OPS point as main difficulty the absense of intervention protocols in the first level of care.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the association between Intra-Family Relationship (IR) and Quality of Life (HRQoL) related to Mexican adolescents’ health who self-injure. METHOD: This research follows an observational and cross-sectional design. 545 adolescents (male/female) participated (58.17% of women and an average age of 14.49 years old ±1.7.) The Mexican version of ISSIQ-A, E.R.I. and KIDSCREEN-52 were used. Models of logistic regression were applied to determine the association between the IR and the HRQoL, adjusting for control variables. RESULTS: High union and support increased the possibilities for higher HRQoL with odds ratio (OR, IC95%) of 1.90 in psychological wellbeing and 2.33 in parents and family life. High expression was associated with more possibilities of higher HRQoL in seven domains with OR of 1.64 in financial resources until 5.89 in parents and family life. Low difficulty increased the possibility of HRQoL superior in nine domains, with OR of 1.51 for psychological wellbeing until 3.08 in relation to parents and family life. CONCLUSIONS: Even adjusting control variables, the IR are associated to HRQoL in Mexican adolescents who self-injure. To include the intra-family relationships in evaluation and treatment is advised.

METHOD: This research follows an observational and cross-sectional design. 545 adolescents (male/female) participated (58.17% of women and an average age of 14.49 years old ±1.7.) The Mexican version of ISSIQ-A, E.R.I. and KIDSCREEN-52 were used. Models of logistic regression were applied to determine the association between the IR and the HRQoL, adjusting for control variables. RESULTS: High union and support increased the possibilities for higher HRQoL with odds ratio (OR, IC95%) of 1.90 in psychological wellbeing and 2.33 in parents and family life. High expression was associated with more possibilities of higher HRQoL in seven domains with OR of 1.64 in financial resources until 5.89 in parents and family life. Low difficulty increased the possibility of HRQoL superior in nine domains, with OR of 1.51 for psychological wellbeing until 3.08 in relation to parents and family life. CONCLUSIONS: Even adjusting control variables, the IR are associated to HRQoL in Mexican adolescents who self-injure. To include the intra-family relationships in evaluation and treatment is advised.","PeriodicalId":90336,"journal":{"name":"Salud y Sociedad","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45641078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HIV/AIDS stigma continues affecting the provision of health services to people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as their physical and mental well-being. Scientific literature has highlighted the importance of understanding stigma manifestations that surpass one-on-one social interactions. For that reason, social research in Puerto Rico and elsewhere has highlighted the importance of understanding the Socio-Structural Factors (SSF) that foster HIV/AIDS stigma. With the objective of exploring the SSF that influence stigma manifestations related to HIV/AIDS, we conducted 9 focus groups composed by women and men on HIV/AIDS treatment that had experienced social stigma related to the disease. Participants identified SSF that they understood were related to stigma such as a) development of housing projects for people with HIV/AIDS, b) decentralization of health related services, and c) health services administrative protocols that fostered exclusion. Results evidence the importance of addressing SSF when developing stigma related interventions for this population.
