Laser diodes with parabolic and rectangular AlGa(As,Bi)/AlGaAs QWs were grown by MBE on n-GaAs(001). Operating wavelength was controlled by QW width and material composition. Laser bars processed by UV lithography were characterized by electroluminescence and I-V measurements.

We propose a design of dielectric metasurfaces that can enhance the optical chirality by 2-3 orders of magnitude for chiral optical forces and sensing. It can also preserve the spin states of light upon reflection.

In this paper, we propose a novel technique for optimizing computer-generated holograms (CGHs) designed for a phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM). While a CGH is iteratively updated via gradient descent algorithm, we dynamically scale the reconstructed intensity profile so that its norm value matches the target intensity profile. The feasibility of this method to improve the reconstruction quality is verified through numerical simulation results.

We present mechanism and a device based on few-mode fiber to shape ultrashort laser pulses using multimode interference. Due to intermodal delay and dispersion, spatiotemporal complexity of modes offers novel tunability to shape transmitted pulses.
