Separation and identification of angiotensin I-converting enzyme inhibitory peptides from peptic digest of Hizikia fusiformis protein 梭形希兹克菌蛋白消化酶抑制肽的分离与鉴定

A peptidic fraction (SP-I) having inhibitory activity against angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) was separated from the peptic digest of protein prepared from the brown alga Hizikia fusiformis by ion-exchange chromatographies and gel filtration. Oral administration of SP-I into spontaneously hypotensive rats at 200mg/kg resulted in a marked hypotensive effect. Further separation of SP-I by ODS HPLC afforded three active peptides, Gly-Lys-Tyr (IC50; 3.92μM), Ser-Val-Tyr (8.12μM), and Ser-Lys-Thr-Tyr (11.07μM).

Settlement and migration of the early life stage spangled emperor were studied in the Hanechi region off the northern part of Okinawa island from 1984 to 1991, by means of underwater observations with SCUBA, samplings of juveniles gathered by lamp and with seine, and also release and recapture experiments of hatchery-reared juveniles.Juveniles just after settlement, about 17mm in fork length (FL), were first observed in seagrass beds shallower than 3m depth in May and increased in number through July. After August they gradually moved out of the seagrass beds and disappeared after November. Samplings with fish-lamp and seine revealed that a peak of juvenile settlement took place in June, although a few individuals just before settlement were caught as late as in October. The reared juveniles, which were tagged and released in November when they were 5-6 months old and 104mm in mean FL, stayed within 3km of the release point until June of next year, and expanded their distribution range to the outer edges of the coral reef facing the open sea, which was 7km distant from the release point, in October.

Heat-induced change in myosin heavy chains in salt-ground meat with a food additive containing transglutaminase 含谷氨酰胺转胺酶的食品添加剂对盐绞肉中肌球蛋白重链的热诱导变化

Walleye pollack frozen surimi was ground with 3.0% NaCl in the presence and absence of 0.3% food additive containing transglutaminase. The salt-ground meat was heated at 25°C or 40°C for various durations, followed by heating at 90°C for 30min to obtain kamaboko gels.Quality of the kamaboko gel was evaluated from the changes in the breaking strength and breaking strain as a function of preheating time, as previously reported. In the present study, the crosslinking profile of myosin heavy chains of the same kamaboko gel was investigated. The results were as follows: (1) The addition of the additive containing transglutaminase remarkably accelerated the cross-linking reaction of myosin heavy chains in the salt-ground meat, accumulating cross-linked products with larger molecular sizes. (2) When such cross-linked products were accumulated in a large quantity, the breaking strength increased at a much higher rate than the increase in breaking strain of the same kamaboko gel.Considering the rate of progressing of the cross-linking reaction between myosin heavy chains in the gel, the quality of the kamaboko thus formed was shown to be clearly different from that of the ordinary product.

Association behavior of young striped jack Pseudocaranx dentex to a shade of flotsam 幼条短叶假萼花齿对浮体阴影的结合力

Behaviors of the striped jack Pseudocaranx dentex to the shade of flotsam were observed in experimental tanks to determine whether or not the shade would act as a factor to trigger association behavior of fishes to a flotsam.During the daytime, 20 fish of 23cm TL preferred to distribute under the cover which was set on the right half side of a 90m3 outdoor tank, while there was no difference in fish distribution between the right and left sides in a control tank without cover. During the nighttime, however, there was no difference in horizontal distribution between the test and the control tanks. Fish in the test tank tended to distribute at shallower depths than those in the control tank during the daytime, while both fish distributed at the surface during almost all of the nighttime. When the light intensity was increased by more than 10, 000 lx in an outdoor 60m3 tank with a 90×180cm plywood board at the surface, 21 striped jack of 24cm TL distributed in the shade of the plywood board, while they went out of the shade and swam around the tank when the decrease in light intensity exceeded 10, 000 lx. These data suggested that the shade might attract the striped jack and trigger the association behavior. It was also suggested that in marine ranching of the striped jack in coastal waters the feeding station should provide fish with shade to enhance their association behavior and to keep fish at a fixed area in the sea.

Entrance shape of fish trap and fishing efficiency 渔网入口形状与渔捞效率

The ingress and escape behavior for a fish trap was studied through experiments in the laboratory using green fish Girella punctata. The fish behavior for a simplified funnel set in the aquarium was recorded on video tape. An index of structure for various sizes of funnel-shape entrances was introduced as a means of analyzing the entrapping difficulty. The following results were obtained: The number of fish entrapped was constant when the index was less than 1.0, but decreased when the index increased above 1.0, while the number of escaped fish decreased slightly as the index increased.

Auditory threshold and critical ratio of black rockfish Sebastes schlegeli 黑岩鱼的听觉阈值与临界比值

The auditory threshold of the black rockfish Sebastes schlegeli was determined by heartbeat conditioning using six pure tone stimuli from 100Hz to 1000Hz, which was coupled with an electric shock. In order to measure the critical ratio, noise was projected to stable spectrum levels at all test frequencies of background noise. Black rockfish could hear a sound in the frequency range from 100Hz to 1000Hz, with greatest sensitivity of 90.7dB at 200Hz. The threshold at 500Hz was higher than others. Until 500Hz the critical ratio increased from 29.7dB to 59.8dB. These results show that the auditory sensitivity of the black rockfish at 500Hz is poor.

Applicability of artificial seawater as a rearing seawater for toxicity tests of hazardous chemicals by marine fish species 人工海水作为养殖海水对海洋鱼类有害化学品毒性试验的适用性

The applicability of artificial seawater (APHA and LF) as a rearing seawater to examine the acute toxicity and bioconcentration of hazardous chemicals was investigated. The concentrations of hazardous metals in these artificial seawaters were determined and the vawes of LC50 and BCF for the artificial seawaters were compared with those for natural seawater.The concentrations of Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu, Fe, Mn, As and Sb in the artificial seawaters were as low as those reported in natural seawater. The LC50 values of Cu and Cr(VI) in the artificial seawaters were about half of those obtained in natural seawater. On the other hand, no significant change was observed for LC50 of Hg, PCP-Na and PNP. EDTA included in the artificial seawater reduced the acutetoxicity of Cu. Differences in BCFs of Cd, α-HCH, TBP and PCP-Na were also small between natural and the artificial seawaters used in the experiments. These results suggest that artificial seawater not containing a large amount of EDTA (APHA or LF) was a suitable substitute for natural seawater for the toxicity tests using marine fish species.

On the other hand, no significant change was observed for LC50 of Hg, PCP-Na and PNP. EDTA included in the artificial seawater reduced the acutetoxicity of Cu. Differences in BCFs of Cd, α-HCH, TBP and PCP-Na were also small between natural and the artificial seawaters used in the experiments. Analysis of possibility of feeding of loggerhead turtles during internesting periods based on stomach temperature measurements 根据胃温测量分析红海龟在产卵间期进食的可能性

The presence of feeding was examined in loggerhead turtles during internesting periods from 1989 through 1993 off southern Japan using the Time Temperature Recorder (TTR). The TTR was inserted into the stomach and temperature data were obtained from the nine free-ranging female loggerheads. The patterns of temperature fluctuation which consisted of a rapid drop and subsequent gradual rise were recorded in the stomach temperature data. This typical pattern proved to be caused by drinking or feeding. The pattern counted 5 to 19 times in the first 24 hours after nesting and decreased afterwards gradually. The loggerheads seemed to drink sea water just after nesting and not to feed during internesting periods.

We have developed a new fish tracking system using a synchronising method. The system consists of an ultrasonic pinger, four hydrophones, a four channel receiver, an 8-bit single board computer with ADC, a personal computer, an electronic magnetic compass and a DGPS receiving system. In this system, the bearings of the pinger are calculated using the short base line by measuring the receiving time differences of a pulse between channels. The distance from the hydrophone to the pinger is calculated by using an original method, in which the receiver and the pinger are syn-chronised to measure the interval between received pulses. A Synchronising drift error which accumulates with time is corrected by using the distance calculated from the transmission loss. This method gives a more accurate measurement of distance. Using this system, we successfully tracked three striped jack Caranx delicatissimus for five days.
