Considering that Kate McConnell ([3]) has already written about how pre-pandemic assessment professionals played "defense", the post-pandemic reality seems to have further exacerbated the need to play defense. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I met with assessment professionals from across the New England States, and, for many, other than being involved in pandemic-related surveys, they reported that the assessment of student learning pretty much stalled.
