PCR-positive samples RT-PCR Thermo gave positive results on 86 specimens. * Ct ranged from 10.74 to 40.92 for S target (with 10 lacking of S response due to variations). * Ct ranged from 12.59 to 32.97 for N target. * Ct ranged from 10.41 to 33.68 for Orf1ab target. * For 70 of 86 specimens, all the 3 Ct were <26.00. [...]unexpected negative results by Ag testing (although Ct<26.00 by RT-PCR) were 5 with RAPID TEST 1, 7 with RAPID TEST 2, 2 with AllTest and 2 with Acro Biotech. Variants of SARS-CoV2 Among the 86 RT-PCR positive specimens, there was 10 variants of SARS-COV2: * Two of them (UK and del 69-70 variants) gave a strong and quick positive result by each of the Ag testing device. * Three variant samples gave a negative result by each of the Ag testing device (low burden for two of them: UK and del 69-70 variants;high burden for the other: del 69-70 variant). * Three variant samples gave positive results (even slight or late) for some of the device: RAPID TEST 1 with one ZA variant, RAPID TEST 2 with one UK variant, both RAPID TEST 1 and RAPID TEST 2 with another UK variant. * Two variant samples gave a negative result by one of the 4 devices (AllTest with a del 69-70 variant, low burden) or by two (RAPID TEST 1 and RAPID TEST 2 with a UK variant, high burden).

Objective: To compare the effects of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and cryotherapy in relieving painful symptoms in students with primary dysmenorrhea (PD). Methods: Cross-sectional and quantitative study, with 20 university women randomly divided into two groups: TENS Group (GT) whose participants were submitted to a 45 min TENS session with a frequency of 120 Hz and a pulse duration of 100 µs and Cryotherapy Group (CG), whose participants were submitted to a cryotherapy session for 20 min. Women with regular menstrual cycles, nulligravidas, without a report of pelvic disease, and with dysmenorrhea with pain levels between 4 and 10 during the first three days of menstruation were included. Those with contraindications to TENS or cryotherapy and who used drugs up to 24 h before the intervention were excluded. The participants' pain levels were recorded before and shortly after the intervention.Results: Women aged between 18 and 27 years (mean 22.8 ± 2.4 years) were evaluated. In addition to painful symptoms, all of them presented some other associated symptoms, the most common being diarrhea and fatigue (80%, each). The two-way ANOVA test of repeated measures considering group and evaluation factors revealed an effect only for the evaluation factor (p < 0.001) with no effect for the group/evaluation interaction (p = 0.09). Conclusion: TENS and cryotherapy are efficient resources for relieving pain symptoms in women with PD, with no superiority between the approaches.

Objective: To evaluate the quality of life (QoL) and the perception of oral health of visually impaired people. Methods: Quantitative cross-sectional study covering people with visual impairments in the months of September and November 2019. Twenty visually impaired people were interviewed at the Instituto de Educacao Assistencial ao Cegos do Nordeste, Campina Grande, Paraiba, Brazil, older than 18 years. The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-Bref) was used to assess QoL and the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14, Portuguese version) was used to assess the oral health perception. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and categorization were used. Results: There was a predominance of male individuals (80%), with a mean age of 32.3 years. Regarding education, 40% had completed high school. Regarding marital status, 75% were single. The study revealed better QoL in the psychological and social relationships domains (mean scores, ME: 4.0 ± 2.83 and 3.9 ± 3.22, respectively). Regarding the assessment of perception of oral health, the dimensions most affected were physical pain (EM 2.05 ± 2.01) and psychological discomfort (EM 2.25 ± 2.27). Conclusion: People with visual impairment have a lower perception of QOL in the physical and environmental domains and, concerning the perception of oral health, the individuals surveyed feel dissatisfied with their current condition.

Methods: A self-administered questionnaire of 27 topics was used on Google® Forms, published on social media between September and October 2018. Results: 200 gym goers participated, 71% young adults, 52% having more than two years of practice, and attendance regular 5 - 6 times a week. Most were women (58.5%), bodybuilders (61.6%), and from Minas Gerais State (62.5%). Consumption without professional guidance was 81.6% for energy drinks and 53.9% for caffeine-based supplements. Most energy consumers (73.3%) had goals related to social activities, preferring the RedBul® brand (40.4%). Among consumers of caffeine supplements, there was a preference for thermogenic (32.7%) and pure caffeine (29.9%), with the primary objective of improving performance (28.7%), presenting ergolytic responses of tachycardia and palpitations as recorded in energy drinks. There was no record of adverse effects in 19.2% of caffeine consumers and 40.8% of energy drinkers. The consumption dosages of the products were within the safety range (< 6 mg/kg). Conclusion: The consumption of both products was made without professional guidance, however, with dosages within the safety range. The consumption of energy drinks aimed at social activities and improved sports performance. Ergolytic effects have been reported.","PeriodicalId":12868,"journal":{"name":"Health science journal","volume":"6 1","pages":"54-61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80438928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the functional tests validated in different profiles of hospitalized and non-hospitalized individuals and to evaluate the psychometric evidence for reliability and validity. Methods: This is a systematic review. The databases EMBASE, MEDLINE, Lilacs and SciELO were used with the descriptors Functional Tests (Walk Test, Gait Speed Test, Chair Stand Test, Timed Up and Go, Step Test), Validation Studies as Topic and synonyms. Validation studies of functional tests were included in hospitalized or non-hospitalized individuals who used the criteria of validity and/or reliability and related the tests to different variables. These articles could be longitudinal or cross-sectional observational or validation studies that used data from clinical trials. Articles that did not present significant characteristics of the sample and the description of the test were excluded. Results: The search resulted in 36,150 articles, and 89 were included. The studies were organized in tables with information such as author, year, validation criteria, sample, test, associated variables and results. The quality of the articles was assessed using the Quality Assessment Tool for Observational Cohort and Cross-Sectional Studies. Conclusion: Functional tests are valid and reliable for assessing hospitalized and non-hospitalized individuals and are associated with muscle strength, ability to walk, postural control, activities of daily living, risk of falls, hospitalization, and mortality.
