Health professional publications have proved to be a valuable source of historical research. This study analyses the journalistic life of El Practicante Oscense, the bulletin of the Official College of Practicantes of Huesca and its province (Colegio Oficial de Practicantes de Huesca y su provincia), published between 1935 and 1940, copies of which are kept at the Huesca Official College of Nursing (Colegio Oficial de Enfermería de Huesca). Issues such as the professional identity of practicantes (male medical and surgical assistants), their professional interactions with nurses, labour demands, and political, social and professional synergies are analysed, especially the collegial organization of the profession during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).

The main objective of this text is to analyze the relationships between alternative health practices and the environment in France, especially during the Battle of Larzac, a social movement that occurred between 1971 and 1981. In its bid to prevent the expropriation of agricultural land by the army for the expansion of a military camp, the movement created several resistance groups. We highlight Larzac-Université and the first course offered by the group, which is analyzed here. This course, held in 1976, called "Chemicals, medicines, energy: a threat to everyday life?", sheds light on the connections between health, the environment, and social movements.

This article analyzes the interactions and conversations of ten families visiting the exhibition "The science of love and forgiveness", at Maloka, in Bogotá, Colombia, which explores emotions from a neuroscientific and human sciences perspective, as well as psychological approaches to forgiveness in a post-conflict context, namely, since the peace agreement between the government and Colombia's largest guerrilla group. Family visits in December 2022 were recorded using GoPro cameras attached to the chest of a child from each group. The data were analyzed using Dedoose software. The mediation of adults and the exhibition design were found to foster physical and mental interaction.

This study analyzes the art production process of mental health users at the Juliano Moreira Colony (Colônia Juliano Moreira) in light of changes in the treatment of insanity. Drawing on documentary research and analyses of artworks, the study focuses on intersections between art, mental health, and the transformations of a place of confinement into a space for expression in its reflections on disciplinary power. Milestones of note are the hospitalization of Arthur Bispo do Rosário in 1939, the founding of the Bispo do Rosário Contemporary Art Museum in the 1980s, and the creation of the Ateliê Gaia studio in 2003.

The paper analyses, in historical perspective, the role of social organizations in combat against Aids as how it takes part in the process of institutional construction of the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) in the state of Pará, Brazil. Emphasizing the prominence of the group Paravidda, it discusses the demands for organization of hospital care from of SUS's regulations in 1990 until 2003, when there was a restructuration of healthcare in region. It is concluded that Paravidda has become a prominent actor in regional implementation of SUS, meaning that organized civil society played a key role in the process of health reform and institutional construction of the SUS.

Since the institutionalisation of the history of science as a discipline in the early 1950s, the "Scientific Revolution" has been its master narrative and central organising principle. However, this narrative has attracted critical scrutiny since the last decades of the twentieth century. For many historians, the idea of the Scientific Revolution was formulated when the history of science was confined overwhelmingly to North American and British institutions. Instead of focusing on Europe and the West, it might be more fruitful to recognise the influence of post-Second World War politics in shaping the concept, while also taking into account the demographic changes in the discipline, which today includes women and men from all over the world.

Emília Snethlage came to Brazil from Germany in 1905 to work at the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Pará [Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi], going on to become a distinguished ornithologist. In 1922, she started working for the National Museum as a traveling naturalist. In September 1929, she traveled to Porto Velho to study the birds of the Madeira River. On November 25, she was found dead in her hotel room. This study presents unpublished documents from the National Museum concerning Snethlage's death, some of which were sent there from Porto Velho, including a death certificate, her place of burial, and her estate. These documents escaped the 2018 fire at the museum.

This article analyzes Homossexualismo e endocrinologia (1938), by the medical examiner Leonídio Ribeiro. The work recommends opotherapy for leading "passive pederasts" towards heterosexuality. Opotherapy, or organotherapy, created in the late 1800s, consisted of using medicines produced from glandular secretions from non-human animals to treat humans with disorders of the endocrine glands. The study examines how the male body was represented and how a culture of compulsory virility was promoted in commercial advertisements for glandular extracts in 1930s and 1940s Brazil. The aim is to contribute to contemporary scholarship on the history of the "gay cure" and its intimate connections with eugenics.

This article analyzes the mural made by Fernando Oreste Nannetti at the Volterra Psychiatric Hospital (Italy), during his stay between 1958 and 1973. The text introduces the author and the Volterra Psychiatric Hospital and then develops a concise iconographic analysis of the mural. It aims to connect the contents with Nannetti's biography, and the interests or concerns based on the two main themes: his experience in the psychiatric medical system and his interest in science and technology.

Historians tend to agree that the investigations by Piso and Marcgraf into nature in northeastern Brazil during the brief Dutch rule in that region were guided by a profound utilitarian approach. This article broadens this perspective by demonstrating how religious elements were heavily involved in their investigations of the natural world. We suggest that for both, like many of their contemporaries, the study of nature was also a way to contemplate the wisdom and omnipotence of the creator's work and demonstrate how religious elements, like the idea of the economy of nature, influenced the understanding of the natural world.
