Maxillofacial trauma is damage that affects the face and surrounding tissue, where traffic accidents are the main cause of trauma. The location of facial fractures can occur in the upper third, middle third and lower third of the face. The position of the maxilla which is located in the middle third of the face causes it to be protected by the prominent bones of the mandible, zygoma, nasalis and frontalis, so that maxillary fractures are rarely found compared to mandibular fractures. The prevalence of fractures in the middle third of the face is higher than fractures in other areas of the face (upper third and lower third). Keywords: MISS, FISS

Introduction: Odontoma is a benign odontogenic tumor that originates from abnormalities in the development of tooth tissue (hamartoma) and is characterized by abnormal calcification of tooth tissue such as enamel, dentin, cementum, and pulp. Odontomas are divided into 2 types, namely compound odontoma and complex odontoma. The epidemiologic characteristics of odontoma in several studies show differences. This study aimed to obtain information and analyze the characteristics of odontoma at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Hasan Sadikin General Hospital for the period January 2017 – December 2022. Methods: This study is a retrospective descriptive study based on the medical data record of a patient who was diagnosed with odontoma and undergoing treatment at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Hasan Sadikin General Hospital for the period January 2017 to December 2022. The variables studied include age, gender, lesion location, diagnosis, and treatment, and. Results: The total participants in this study were 18 patients (9 males and 9 females), with the highest age range at the age of 11-20 years (50%), and the type of compound odontoma as many as 8 patients (44.4%), and complex odontoma as many as 10 patients (56%). Most of the lesions were found in anterior maxilla with 6 patients (33%), 11% in the right maxilla, 5% in the left maxilla, 17% in the anterior mandible, 6% in the right mandible, and 28% in the left mandible. Particularly, based on the treatment received by the patients, all patients went under enucleation treatment (100%). Conclusion: Odontomas are equally common in males and females during the second decade of life. Complex odontoma is more common than compound odontoma. Odontoma occur mainly in the anterior maxilla, especially the compound type. Conservative surgery, such as enucleation, is a common treatment. Keywords: Odontoma, patients characteristics, treatment

Natural polymer from flaxseed Linum usitatissimum was used in this study to develop a matrix-dispersion type transdermal Naproxen sodium medication delivery system. Flaxseed mucilage and hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose were used to make transdermal patches of naproxen sodium. Transdermal patches were made using flaxseed mucilage, whichwas adopted and tested for its impact on patch quality. The solubility, melting point, and partition coefficient of the medication have been determined as preliminary evaluation metrics. Using Franz diffusion cells, the produced patcheswere assessed in vitro for in vitro drug release, folding durability, thickness, and weight fluctuation of the patches. For FTIR and DSC, and a stability analysis, the improved formulation was used. Data from FTIR and DSC demonstrated that the medication and excipient had no significant interaction. Keywords: naproxen sodium, flaxseed mucilage, solvent casting method, folding endurance, Franz diffusion cell.

Introduction: Ameloblastoma is a locally invasive tumor that grows slowly and attacks the maxillofacial area. There are various histological variants of ameloblastoma. The most common is follicular ameloblastoma. They are characterized by slow growth and are relatively aggressive locally, with the primary site of origin being the mandible. Late recurrence after surgical management is relatively common and is related to the histologic type, site of origin, and initial treatment modality. The mandibular bone is also a relatively common location for this tumor. Optimal surgical treatment of ameloblastoma should minimize recurrence, restore function and aesthetics, and minimize morbidity at the donor site. Segmental mandibular resection surgery is tumour surgery by removing part of the mandible. Case report: A 15-year-old female patient came with complaints of a mass in the mandible area. The mass infiltrated the right mandible. The surgical intervention performed on this patient was a segmental resection operation. From the results of the Anatomic Pathology (AP) examination, follicular ameloblastoma was found in the right mandibular region. Conclusion: The patient's age and histopathological pattern of the tumor influence the treatment plan. Keywords: Follicular Ameloblastoma, Benign, Segmental resection surgery

Human breast milk (HBM) is the finest source of nutrition for almost all infants. Breast milk as a bodily fluid has many benefits beyond somatic cell growth, including regulation of postnatal intestinal function, immune ontogeny, and brain development. However, breastfeeding is strongly recommended, breastfeeding may not always be possible, suitable or solely adequate1. Hence, Infant formula is often an alternative source of infant nutrition when breastfeeding is unacceptable or impossible. The composition of infant formula should be as close as possible to the composition of human breast milk, both in terms of content and chemical specification2. Infant formulas try to mimic the nutritional composition of breast milk as closely as possible. A number of substitutes to milk-based formula also exist. In this article, we review nutritional information for breast milk and infant formulas to help you better understand the importance of breastfeeding and the use of infant formulas up to 24 months of age when alternative feeding is required. In general, breast milk is the ideal food to ensure that an infant's nutritional needs are met. Keywords: breast milk; infant formula; type of infant formula; benefits

However, breastfeeding is strongly recommended, breastfeeding may not always be possible, suitable or solely adequate1. Hence, Infant formula is often an alternative source of infant nutrition when breastfeeding is unacceptable or impossible. The composition of infant formula should be as close as possible to the composition of human breast milk, both in terms of content and chemical specification2. Infant formulas try to mimic the nutritional composition of breast milk as closely as possible. A number of substitutes to milk-based formula also exist. In this article, we review nutritional information for breast milk and infant formulas to help you better understand the importance of breastfeeding and the use of infant formulas up to 24 months of age when alternative feeding is required. In general, breast milk is the ideal food to ensure that an infant's nutritional needs are met. \u0000Keywords: breast milk; infant formula; type of infant formula; benefits","PeriodicalId":14139,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical and Biomedical Studies","volume":"64 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138596435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Background: Schizophyllum species can cause diverse clinical infections like sinusitis, pulmonary disease, ulcerative lesions of the palate, atypical meningitis, cerebral abscess which can occur in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. Although it is one of the emerging fungi, data on clinical features and outcomes of fungal diseases caused by Schizophyllum spp. in India are currently not sufficient. A failure to exhibit morphological characteristics leads to difficulties in identification, incorrect therapy and decreased frequency of reporting. It is one of the underreported fungal species and the disease load is much higher than reported. Here, we report a series of ten cases where Schizophyllum is isolated as the causative fungal agent. Materials and methods: Nasal scrappings were taken from suspected mucormycosis patients and processed for KOH mount and fungal culture by standard methods. Results: Schizophyllum spp. were isolated from ten suspected patients and majority of them had history of Covid-19, increased blood sugar level and steroid therapy. One of them was a case of T-lymphoid leukaemia under chemotherapy. All the patients were discharged from the hospital after successful treatment. Conclusion: During the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic there was sudden rise of mucormycosis cases in India. This study shows that Schizophyllum spp. can also be a causative fungal agent in post covid patients showing similar signs and symptoms like mucormycosis and can easily be misdiagnosed
