Objective Its important to find out what are the major risk factors for Asthma in children and can we prevent them in future? Our study try to analyze connection between environmental allergens to asthma, specially in children living in Textile industrial area. Methodology: We preformed a cross sectional observational study from June 2012 to June 2017 in which asthma symptoms were defined according IAP-ATM module, GINA guidelines. Like recurrent cough, nocturnal cough, rhinitis, breathlessness were noted The association between Towel-Chaddar industry and prevalence of asthma symptoms were calculated. -The Present study consist of randomly selected 1416 babies attending respiratory clinic in last 5 years. Results--We included total 1146 children of asthma coming for respiratory clinic in last 5 years

Introduction: Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Many treatment options exist for cancer and treatment with chemotherapy started in early 20 century. It involves one or more cytotoxic drugs. Nurses are the main groups that are exposed to these drugs in hospital setting. Hence an experimental study to assess the effect of self instructional module on Knowledge and Practices regarding handling of cytotoxic drugs among the staff nurses working in the Pediatric units of selected hospitals in Pune city was undertaken. The objectives of the study were to assess the Knowledge and Practices of the staff nurses regarding handling of cytotoxic drugs before and after the administration of self instructional module, to determine the effectiveness of Self Instructional Module on Knowledge and Practices among the staff nurses, to correlate the Knowledge and Practices of staff nurses and to find out the association between pre Knowledge and Practice scores with selected demographic variables. Material and methods: A pre experimental one group pre test post test design was used and carried out on 60 samples. The Non probability purposive sampling technique was used. Demographic Performa, structured questionnaire and observation checklist was used to collect the data. Results: The mean knowledge score was significantly increased from 14.3 to 17.4 (p value = 0.000) and the mean practice score was improved from 15.0 to 17.1 (p-value = 0.000) with significant positive correlation between knowledge and practice (r=0.6, t value= 6.2, p value = 0.000) depicting significant change in the knowledge and practice of the staff nurses after the administration of the self instructional module. Conclusion: The researcher is optimistic that the study has exposed some directions for further research that will influence a greater appreciation and awareness for safe handling awareness and practices among the staff nurses handling cytotoxic drugs.

Background: Cellulitis is an acute bacterial infection involving dermis and subcutaneous tissue characterized by erythema, induration and tenderness of the involved skin. Bacteremia is the presence of viable bacteria in the blood stream. Recent data suggests that incidence of bacteremia in cellulitis patients are increasing, most often in those with severe infections and comorbidities. Because of high morbidity and mortality associated with bacteremia it is critical to detect the incidence of bacteremia in cellulitis patients Materials & Methods: 50 clinically diagnosed cases of cellulitis who satisfied inclusion and exclusion criteria were taken for study. Sample was collected within 48 hrs of diagnosing the condition and was analyzed. Results: The incidence of bacteremia was 6%. Most frequently isolated bacteria was Beta Hemolytic Streptococcus. Two patients with positive blood culture were found to be diabetic. No antibiotic resistance detected in positive samples. Conclusion: Blood culture though not specific should be performed in patients who have factors increasing the risk of bacteremia. As the bacteremia can be associated with increased mortality it is better to do blood culture in all possible patients.

Aim: anatomical variation in maxillary first premolar. Summary: two canals, it may rarely have three and this third canal can easily be missed. Thus meticulous knowledge of tooth morphology along with careful interpretation of angled radiographs, p access cavity preparation and a detailed exploration root canal is needed to ensure a proper endodontic treatment. This article reports a rare finding of three canals in a maxillary first premolar with non well defined root outline radiographically d

Laboratory studies were conducted on the insecticidal effect of four plant powders Biophytum sensitivum (whole plant), Theobroma cacao (leaf), Pandanus amaryllifolius (leaf), and Hemidesmus indicus (root) on rice moth Corcyra cephalonica Stainton infesting stored food products. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD) with six replications. The treatment dose ranged from 2 to 20% (w/w) of plant powder in rice grain. A control treatment having no botanical was set up to compare the results in order to choose effective plant powder to control rice moth in storage. Ten fourth instar larvae of rice moths were introduced to each treatment. The cumulative mortality percentage of larvae in different botanical treatments was recorded at two weeks interval. It was revealed that the use of powders from the selected indigenous plants increased larval mortality of the rice moth. Among the plant powders studied Hemidesmus indicus root powder recorded 86.4% mortality of the larvae at the end of the experiment and showed significantly (p<0.05) high effectiveness in inhibiting pupation and thus the adult emergence.
