In Morocco, the traditional herbal medicine is widely used: it is essential for populations in landlocked areas such as the High Atlas. The objective of this work is to present the current data on the different traditional therapeutic practices of medicinal plants used in the Tafilalt zone (High Atlas Oriental) using the ethnobotanical files submitted to 300 respondents. The analysis of the results obtained made it possible to identify 73 species of medicinal plants belonging to 68 genera and 33 families, the most represented being: Lamiaceae (10 species) and Asteraceae (7 species). The majority of the decoction-based remedies (59.66%) are the most commonly used (46.74%), and virtually all of the products obtained are administered orally (81.40%). Cooling conditions (43.02%) and digestive disorders (35.06%) are the most common pathologies associated with the use of medicinal plants in this region. Moreover, this study could provide a basis for future research in photochemistry and pharmacology, ethnobotanical files.

Background: Overexpression of Cyclin D1, a positive cell cycle regulator, may lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation. Aim: The present study was undertaken to examine the expression profile of Cyclin D1 in normal, hyperplastic and neoplastic endometrium and to evaluate the possibility of its role in the genesis of endometrial neoplastic and preneoplastic lesions. Settings and Design: A cross sectional study conducted during a 1 year period in a tertiary referral centre. Materials and Methods: We evaluated and compared the expression profile of Cyclin D1 in 50 endometrial samplings that were diagnosed as simple hyperplasia without atypia (n=12), complex hyperplasia without atypia (n=7), complex hyperplasia with atypia (n=4), endometrial carcinoma (n=7) and proliferative (n=10) and secretory (n=10) endometrium. Results: An increasing gradient of Cyclin D1 expression was noted in endometrial glands from normal endometrium to hyperplasia to carcinoma Conclusion: Cyclin D1 overexpression is an early event in endometrial carcinogenesis.

The malayali tribal communities of the Kalrayan hills possess a rich repository of medicinal plant knowledge for curing a variety of veterinary ailments. The present study has been conducted to collect ethnoveterinary information from the tribals with respect to the treatment of bone fractures and wounds in domestic animals. 4 resource persons were contacted on our visits to a remote area in the Vellimalai region of the Kalrayan hills. Data on 14 different plants species belonging to 12 different families have been obtained and analysed.

Natural disasters results in severe loss of life, property and economic disruptions. India is vulnerable, in varying degrees, to a large number of disasters. To manage such post-disaster crisis situation, new technologies are required to accurately compile information. Based on sound information, rescue teams can be guided to provide recovery and relief in affected region. Drone is an emerging technology which can effectively capture images of disaster affected remote place. This paper analyze role of drones in disaster management in India.

Adolescence is a phase of rapid growth and development during which physical, physiological and behavioural changes occur. They constitute more than 1.2 billion worldwide, and about 21% of Indian population. Morbidity and mortality occurring in this age group is mostly due to preventable causes. Adolescent risky behavior often results from their inadequate knowledge and lack of understanding of the risks involved. Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on the knowledge and perception on high-risk behaviours among adolescent boys. Materials and Methods: Experimental design was used. By using systematic random sampling 40 students studying from 6, 7 and 8 standard were selected. Results: Maximum number of students were in the age group of 12 years (42.5%). Half of the students were studying in 7 standard (50%), Maximum students were residing at rural areas (60%). Majority of the students 31(77.5%) were Hindus. 12(30%) of the student’s fathers were smokers, 16(40%) of the student’s fathers were alcoholics. The mean knowledge score in the experimental group after the intervention (16.1) was higher than the mean knowledge score before the intervention (9.5). The mean perception score in the experimental group after the intervention (85) was higher than the mean perception score before the intervention (78.8). Conclusion: Smoking prevention is an important issue and healthcare professionals, especially nurses have a major role in helping people to understand the consequences of smoking for their lives.
