The surface plasmons were collective excitation of free charges which can be generated at the interface between metal and dielectrics. The active material was metal which provided free charges while dielectrics was passive material which maintained the electric fields at the interface. One of the most effective method to generate surface plasmons was attenuated total reflection (ATR). The basic concept of this method was total internal reflection. Hence, it required a high index prism, such as thallium halogenide. The ATR method can be done numerically by deriving ATR reflectivity. In the process of derivation, we should consider the reflectivity at the all involved interfaces. Then, the ATR reflectivity can be obtained by scanning frequency at the certain interval near the surface plasmon frequency. In this report, we study the surface plasmon which was generated at the interface between gold and fatty acid. We analysed the effect of fatty acid’s dielectric constant to the ATR spectroscopy. We found that the decrease of the fatty acid’s permittivity increase the surface plasmon resonance (SPR frequency and decrease the reflectivity at this resonance frequency.

As a result to the students’ migration to foreign countries, they are forced to adjust to the new host’s environment, culture and tradition. One major adjustment required is their diet. This study assesses actual dietary intake changes after students’ immigration to the UK. This study adopted the approach of a cross-sectional study design to collect quantitative data using a questionnaire. A sample size of 99 international students was selected. Snowball sampling was used in selecting the study’s participants. All data was quantitative hence analysed using the software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 26.0). Differences in consumption of the food items pre and post immigration were evaluated using t-test for related samples. The findings show that intake of foods perceived to be non-western such as nuts, fruits and vegetables, proteins such as beans, meat soup, fish and sausages decreased while intake of fat rich highly processed foods perceived to be western such as chips, cheese, bacon, sausages and ham increased after immigration to the UK.

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between occupational stress on employee performance in the Maldives tourism industry. Descriptive research design was adopted for primary data collection. A questionnaire containing 24 items with Likert 5-point scale (1: strongly disagree – 5: strongly agree) was developed as the research instrument to collect quantitative data. The questionnaire was divided into three parts: the first part sought demographic characteristics; the second part sought responses on causes of stress (work overload, inadequate compensation, career concerns and interpersonal conflicts) as independent variables; The dependent variable was employee performance and part three of the questionnaire comprises factors to identify the impact of stress on the dependent variable. A total of 270 respondents were selected from various tourist resorts in the Maldives by employing convenience sampling technique. Regression techniques using SPSS26 were carried out to analyze and evaluate the impact of occupational stress on employee performance. The findings of the study showed that both work overload and inadequate compensation have significant negative impact on employee performance. The other two independent variables, career concerns and interpersonal conflicts found to have no significant impact on employee performance. Hence, it was concluded that increased workload and inadequate compensation escalates level of stress and significantly reduces employee performance. Therefore, it is recommended for managers not to increase employees’ work demands in a way that exceeds the individual’s ability to complete the assigned tasks. It is also imperative for managers to ensure that the employees’ benefit package or compensation reflects the amount of effort they invest on work. This will help to reduce the level of stress and enhance employees’ performance. Since there are limited/no past researches in the context of Maldives tourism industry, future research should be more structured and consider exploring different variables that contribute to stress and are not used in this research. This will help to draw a better understanding of the subject and would also facilitate to obtain an improved analytical result.

Background and Objectives: The relationship between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and somatic symptoms and the role of comorbid depression and anxiety has been demonstrated in many studies. The following research explores to what extent depression and anxiety influence the relationship between PTSD and somatic complaints in Georgian peacekeepers. Design and Methods: PTSD Checklist (PCL-5) for The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ) was used to collect data in the sample of 75 veterans examined after a 6-month deployment. Two types of parallel mediation model 4 of the SPSS PROCESS macro were used to check different and also joint influences of depression and anxiety on the indirect effect of PTSD on somatic complaints. Results: When probable mediators were analyzed separately, there was a significant indirect effect of PTSD on somatic complaints: through depression 0.21, 95% CI [0.13, 0.28], and through anxiety 0.13, 95% CI [0.06, 0.21]. After placing both mediators in a parallel model, only depression maintained statistical significance: 0.18, 95% CI [0.09, 0.28]. The ratio of indirect to total effect was 0.66, 95% CI [0.59, 0.75]. Conclusions: The primary finding is that the relationship between PTSD and somatic complaints may be mainly accounted for underlying symptoms of depression rather than anxiety, highlighting the importance of targeting depression symptoms when diagnosing and treating comorbid PTSD and somatic complaints. These new results may affect both the management and treatment of PTSD as they acknowledge the importance of anxiety and depression symptoms in somatic complaints.

Background Malnutrition is a public health problem in developing countries. The aim of our work is to assess the nutritional status and dietary quality of children under 5 years of age. Objective This study focused on children seen in the pediatric department of the Saint Martin de Papanè Hospital during the period from April 6 to July 6, 2021. It is a descriptive and analytical survey by questionnaire on 208 children aged 0 to 59 months. Results The evaluation of the nutritional status of these children under 5 years of age is predominantly male (sex ratio 1.2) and the analysis of the answers to the questions asked of their respective mothers has made it possible to better appreciate the nutritional situation of the children in this study area and to identify the determinants associated with this malnutrition. The study revealed that 74.88% of children are stunted, 90.34% suffer from global acute malnutrition and 79.43% are underweight. Exclusive breastfeeding is very rare, with only 11% of children between the ages of 0 and 6 months receiving only breast milk. The evaluation of dietary diversity reveals that 76.92% of children have a low dietary diversity. In fact, 86% of the children surveyed receive an inadequate complementary diet based on cereals and 67.31% are subjected to the family dish that is poor in nutrients. 59% of the homes in which the children live are more than 5 km from the health centers, 56.73% of the children's mothers have no education and 25% have a low level of education. Conclusion According to our results, poor weaning practices, diseases, sibling rank and low level of education of mothers are the associated determinants of malnutrition observed in the study population in this area of northeast Benin.

The advancements in information technology have provided many conveniences in the process of recording and reporting. Bintang Multi Sparepart Store is a business that sells automotive supplies. Its business process is divided into product sales, product stock fulfilment, and sales report creation. Based on the ongoing business process, sales recordings are done manually with a book, which increases the risk of errors due to spills and dirt on the book, tears, and human error. This results in inaccurate sales report calculations. Information about product availability also often has errors due to inaccurate information. In view of the problems that are occurring, this study designed an integrated information system that can collect, store, and process data to produce accurate information by applying the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles, programming language PHP and MySQL for database storage, and through unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and acceptance testing. The designed information system is operating well, and the entire process in the information system meets the user's needs in terms of functionality and usability. The implementation of the proposed information system allows the owner to monitor all business processes, including transaction data and product data. The proposed information system is also capable of storing, summarizing, and presenting the entire sales transaction data in real time. In addition, the designed information system can process calculation on transaction data to be presented in the form of an accurate sales report, and there is a manual to make the information system operation process easier.
