Studies on Midgut Microflora of Aedes Genus Mosquitoes from Badnapur Region (Jalna District), Areas of Maharashtra, India 印度马哈拉施特拉邦巴德那普尔地区伊蚊属蚊中肠菌群研究

Mosquitoes are responsible insect as a vector to cause various diseases. If not cured on time it goes towards fatality. Majorly attacks of anopheles and aedes genus recently have an impact for causing Malaria, dengue, etc. We focused on aedes which was available in our local areas and easily identifiable with morphological characteristics of larvae and adults. First we collected larvae from storage and sewage water samples. Rearing was carried out in vitro with provision of different flower parts for feeding. All stages of life cycle were observed. For further study of gut Microflora adult stage mosquito dissected and exposed it’s gut to nutrient agar medium with saline. Characterization was done with different reagents, media and antibiotics. Amylase production detection assay, Catalase production detection assay, Citric acid utilization assay, Methyl red assay were positive. Phosphate solubilization activity detection assay, Arginine dihydrolase production detection assay, Indole Acetic acid (IAA) production detection assay, Voges Proskauer assay were negative. Isolate was resistant to all antibiotics such as Gentamycin, Kanamycin, Chloramphenicol, Vancomycin and Tetracycline. Gram staining was shown gram negative nature with pink colored colonies.

Evaluation of Grain Quality Traits in High Altitude Rice Hybrids (Oryza sativa L.) 高海拔水稻杂交种籽粒品质性状评价

Rice is the staple cereal crop of many ethnic populations of the world. Usually rice is milled and cooked before consumption. Consumers exhibit a varied preference for rice quality depending on their geographical location, culture and nature of culinary use. Therefore, achieving good grain quality in rice varieties has become extremely important for plant breeders. Rice grain quality is decided by physical traits, amylose, gelatinization temperature, alkali spread value, grain types, chalk and sensory evaluation. In the present study, 34 pollen donors and four CMS lines along with their 10 best heterotic cross combinations were analysed for cooking and other quality attributes. The analysis of variance indicated the presence of sufficient variability for cooking quality. Phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variability, heritability (broad sense), and genetic advance was estimated. It was observed that gel consistency showed highest PCV, GCV, heritability and genetic advance. There is a considerable scope for selection of heterotic rice hybrids with desirable quality.

Effect of Integrated Method of Nitrogen Application on Growth and Yield of Potato (Solanum tuberosum L. var. Kufri Jyoti) in Mid-Hill of Garhwal 综合施氮方法对加尔瓦尔中山马铃薯生长和产量的影响

An experiment was conducted at the Vegetable Demonstration and Research Block, Department of Vegetable Science, College of Horticulture, VCSG Uttarakhand University Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar, during summer season; to study the effect of integrated method of nitrogen application through different method i.e. foliar, top dress and basal dose. The experiment was under taken ten treatment combinations of nitrogen level with application method consisting of RDF basal, topdress (100%, 25%, 50%, 75%) and foliar application (1%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%) were evaluated in randomized complete block design with three replications. Results showed that among the all the treatment nitrogen application T4 (50% recommended dose of N as basal+50% top dress at 30 and 45 DAP) found to be most effective in term of plant height, total number of stems per plant, number of haulms per plant (at 45, 60, 75 DAP and de-haulming), tuber diameter, tuber length and yield.

Tirumala (PPR 1012) – A High Yielding Blast Resistant Finger Millet Variety Released for Andhra Pradesh Tirumala (PPR 1012)——安得拉邦高产抗稻瘟病品种

High yielding finger millet varieties are essential to improve productivity levels in rainfed areas of Andhra Pradesh. Tirumala (PPR 1012), a cross derivative of AE 3077 x Ratnagiri is a medium duration (115-120 days) high yielding finger millet varietywith a yield potential of 25-30 q/ha released during 2019 through State Varietal Release Committee (SVRC) for commercial cultivation in Andhra Pradesh. Purple pigmentation at nodes, leaf sheath junction and on glumes, and large ear heads with incurved finger tips are the distinguishing features of this variety. Grain is medium bold size and copper brown colour with a test weight of 3.5 g. The variety is resistant to blast diseases viz., leaf blast, nec k blast and finger blast. It showed moderate resistant reaction to leaf blight and banded blight. Average grain yield in minikits was 23.85q/ha which was 13.0 per cent higher than standard variety Vakula (21.37 q/ha). It is highly suitable for kharif rainfed situations in Southern Zone of Andhra Pradesh and can be cultivated in all seasons under irrigated situation.The finger millet variety Tirumala (PPR1012) was uniquely identified with DNA fingerprinting.

Contributions of Biotechnology in Agriculture Combating Climatic Variations 生物技术在农业对抗气候变化中的贡献

Climatic change has an enormous effect on economy which eventually depends upon the agricultural practices of any densely populated developing country. Human activities has produced global warming, disturbed the agricultural ecology for crop production challenging food security through salinity, adverse temperature, arid and saline soil condition and affected water precipitation leading to enhanced water use demand, dry land and hunger problems. Here we summarize the contribution of conservative and contemporary approaches of biotechnology involved in negative regulation of climatic fluctuations and their consequences by utilization of energy-efficient farming, plant tissue culture techniques and formulation of bio fertilizers, carbon sequestration with breeding for adaptive varieties, development of genetically advanced stress tolerant transgenic crops contributing in improved food security.

Effect of Spacing and Varieties on Quality Parameters of Rabi Onion (Allium cepa L.) 栽培间距和品种对大葱品质参数的影响

A field experiment was conducted during 2018-19 at Horticulture Research Farm-2, Department of Horticulture, School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), studies on the “Effect of spacing and varieties on quality parameters of rabi onion (Allium cepa L.). In trial different spacing (20×7.5 cm, 20×10 cm and 20×15cm) and three varieties Agri found Light Red, NHRDF-2 and NHRDF-3 was taken for study the layout of experimental field was laid down in Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications. It is clearly revealed that the T.S.S. ( 0 Brix), ascorbic acid (mg), total sugars (%), reducing sugar (%), non-reducing sugar (%) and acidity (%) was found maximum in Agri found Light Red variety with the spacing of 20×10 cm.

Physiological Parameters of Barley as Affected by Stripe Disease 大麦条纹病对生理参数的影响

Stripe disease of barley caused by Drechslera graminea (Rabenh.) Shoemaker is a widely distributed disease in many barley grown parts of the world, but it has assumed more importance with the introduction of some new high yielding varieties. The present investigations were undertaken during 2007-08 and 2008-09 crop seasons with a view of elicit information on effect of disease on physiological parameters particularly chlorophyll content, leaf area, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration. Stripe infection resulted in reduction of all the physiological parameters at both the stages i.e. 35 days and 50 days after disease appearance.

The present investigations were undertaken during 2007-08 and 2008-09 crop seasons with a view of elicit information on effect of disease on physiological parameters particularly chlorophyll content, leaf area, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration. Agronomic and Genetic Biofortification with Fe, Zn of Cereal Crops - A Review 谷类作物铁、锌的农艺和遗传生物强化研究进展

Amonge the different nutrients iron and zinc are two important nutrients in the human diet. Their deficiencies in humans lead to a variety of health-related problems. Iron and zinc biofortification of cereals is considered a cost-effective solution to overcome the malnutrition of these minerals. Biofortification aims at either increasing accumulation of these minerals in edible parts, endosperm, or to increase their bioavailability. Agronomic biofortification through fertilizer approaches could complement the existing breeding approach; for instance, foliar application of Zn fertilizer can increase grain Zn above the breeding target set by nutritionists. Iron and zinc fertilization management positively influence their accumulation in cereal grains. Regarding genetic strategies, quantitative genetic studies show the existence of ample variation for iron and zinc accumulation as well as inhibitors or promoters of their bioavailability in cereal grains. Genetically modified cereals developed by modulation of genes involved in iron and zinc homeostasis, or genes influencing bioavailability, have shown promising results. However, iron and zinc concentration were quantified in the whole grains during most of the studies, whereas a significant proportion of them is lost during milling. This makes it difficult to realistically assess the effectiveness of the different strategies. This review focuses on the common challenges and their possible solutions related to agronomic as well as genetic iron and zinc biofortification of cereals.

A Review on Influence of Sewage Water on Soil Properties and Microbial Biomass Carbon 污水对土壤性质和微生物量碳影响的研究进展

Presently the levels of groundwater are decreasing at an alarming rate. To avoid this problem, we use waste water/sewage water as a source of irrigation. The composition of waste water depends on type of source of water contributing this (like industrial, household and different types of city wastes). Composition of waste water is variable from area to area and site to site. Waste water affects the physico-chemical properties of soils like hydraulic conductivity, infiltration rate, water retention, organic carbon. Waste water improves the status of available (N, P and K), micronutrients and microbial count. Waste water contains high amount of toxic heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Pb and Ni) which causes adverse effect on soil as well as plant. If the concentration of toxic metals is above than the permissible limits then this water is hazardous for humans and animals life. In this article, we have discussed future aspects of waste water and how to play a major role in modern agriculture. It is beneficial or not for particular purpose where industrial waste water is a big problem.

Effect of Allium cepa (Onion) Powder on the Growth and Survival in Cirrhinus mrigala Fingerlings 葱粉对大头鱼鱼种生长和存活的影响

The experiments were conducted using feed prepared with supplementation of onion powder to know their effect on growth performance and survival rate in Cirrhinus mrigala fingerlings (2.65 ± 0.02g). Fingerlings were stocked at a density of 10 nos./experimental tank. Experimental diets were formulated with 35% protein level. T0 diet was considered as control. Onion were added at the rate of 5g, 10g, 20g and 50g per kg of feed in T1, T2, T3 and T4 respectively. The experimental feed was given at the rate of 10% of body weight of the fish twice daily. After 10 days, feeding was decreased to 4% of body weight. After 60 days, Results showed that mean weight gain (%), SGR, PER and survival were significantly higher in T2. The significantly lowest FCR was recorded in T2 (2.65± 0.03) respectively. The survival rate was higher in T2 (97± 0.70), but it was not significantly different among treatments. The results of the present investigation revealed that the supplementation of onion in the diet of C. mrigala fingerlings significantly affected the mean weight gain (%), SGR, PER and survival rate. However, there was significant difference in the survival rate of C. mrigala fingerling among the treatments.
