The proposed article continues the thematic cycle of author’s publications, revealing the peculiarities of the penitentiary activities of the Nerchinsky Assumption monastery. Acquaintance with unknown pages of history Nerchinsky Assumption monastery relevant on the eve of the 315th anniversary her foundations, which will celebrate this year. The article substantiates, that throughout its history the Nerchinsky Assumption monastery was actively used as a place of exile, imprisonment and punishment for both laity and clergy of various ranks (from the lower echelon of the clergy to the arch pesters of church government of the Russian Orthodox Church). The next group of prisoners is considered, represented by the governors of this monastery, who at different times were involved in the bishop’s investigation for illegal acts. Research result historical-religious-legal problem can be called identifying features prison imprisonment influential persons of clergy and coverage of forensic activities in respect of some of them. The appeal to the principle of historicism made it possible to seek and subject to a comprehensive analysis of a significant amount of previously unpublished handwritten historical documents from the archives of the city of Chita and city of Irkutsk, with the subsequent introduction into scientific circulation. The principle of objectivity helped to trace the relationship and interdependence of the specifics of monastic punishment on the political-ideological and spiritualmoral priorities of specific historical periods, manifested in the gradual abandonment of the penitential and corrective component of monastic punishment and the acquisition of punitive and intimidating practices. The topic considered in the article deserves further research insofar as Nerchinsky Assumption monastery throughout all 18th was one element in the chain of penitentiary monasteries in the Russian empire.

The concepts of heart (dil) and spiritual heart (kalb) are important in the anthropological worldview of Sufism. The heart is a place of love (ishq). Divine love (ishq-i illohi) becomes the source where other paths and choices in a person's life begin. At the same time, it is the source of both sinful and pure thoughts. The heart serves as a cognitive tool. A person's search for truth and self-knowledge of his spiritual essence is carried out through hearts. With the dominance of sensory cognition in a person, there is a contradictory connection between the heart (dil, ishk) and the mind (acl). Sufis in most cases relied more on sensory cognition, on the dictates and inclinations of the heart than of the mind. The source base of the research was such Muslim hagiographic works (manakib) as “Jama'ul-makamat”, dedicated to the biography of the leader of the Transoxiana Naqshbandi brotherhood Khojagi Ahmad Kosoni (died in 1542), “Saadiya”, dedicated to the biography of the Juybar (Bukhara) Khojas, "Lamahat min nafahat al-uns", dedicated to the famous Jahrit Sufis, in in particular, the biography of Sheikh Khudoydod Azizon (died in 1533). The subject of the study is the analysis of the concept of the heart, its place and interpretation in the Sufi worldview. This concept is studied purely within the framework of the Muslim hagiographic tradition, based on the perception of the authors of the manakibs of this issue. The purpose of the study is to reveal the meaning of the concept of “heart”, “spiritual heart” in the Sufi worldview and its relationship with other elements of being.

The article examines the potential of using the data from the Harvard Project on the Soviet social system (HPSSS) as a religious studies source. The author has given a review of the Harvard project materials as an object of research by sociologists and historians. The sections of the interviews of the Schedule A and Schedule B, which contain data relevant for religious studies, have been considered. The author revealed some directions and perspectives of the religious studies analysis of the interviews of the Harvard Project from the standpoint of the study of the perception of religion by Russian emigrants of the second wave. The data in the Schedule A interview, that can be analyzed from the perspective of religious studies, are considered in two sections: “Family” and “Philosophy of Life”. The evidence of religious reflection can also be found in Schedule B interviews, fragmented though but equally valuable. On the basis of the interview materials the author has identified possible areas of research: the role of generational factors in the formation of religious views, some peculiarities of the perception of church-state relations, the influence of the historical context and ideological factors on the perception of religion, the dynamics of the religious views of emigrants.

The article examines causal links between the development of Internet technologies and crisis phenomena in liberal democratic systems. Following the principles of a comparative analysis, the author compared the state of democratic institutions and mechanisms before and after total digitalization. The author analyzed the stereotype concerning liberalizing effect of social networks and confirmed the con-clusion about their ideological neutrality. The study found two main forms of destabilizing effect of the Internet and social networks on liberal democracies.

The article will consider the process of historical development of the Islamic organization Nahdatul Ulama and its influence on the religious and political situation in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Nahdatul Ulama appeared in the first quarter of the 20th century in the Republic of Indonesia and in the shortest possible time was able to consolidate a huge number of followers around herself, thanks to which she was able to challenge the Dutch colonial administration. Today the organization is one of the largest Islamic associations on the planet. Today, the organization actively interacts in the sector of the Islamic economy and interacts with many countries. In Russia, there are quite a few research papers about the organization that would fully reveal the history of the development of the organization and its internal structure. The article presents an attempt to build a unified historical chronology, as well as the processes of internal religious transformation, thanks to which the organization was able to gain a foothold in Indonesia in the 20th century, and later grow together with the state apparatus of the republic. The study of Nahdatul Ulama will allow us in the future to more deeply study the influence of Indonesian Islam on the world Ummah, as well as to track the processes of transformation of religious and political thought in Southeast Asia.

Diversity and the fragmented nature of Protestantism are the reason of various interpretations of its boundaries and the number of denominations it comprises. The key criterion of affiliation with Protestantism is the acceptance of basic doctrines set forward in the Niceno- Constantinopolitan Creed. The analysis of the beliefs of the religious organizations traditionally connected with Protestantism suggests that Jehovah's Witnesses, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pentecostals-Unitarians are out of the doctrinal field of Christianity in general and out of the range of Protestantism in particular. The other distinct characteristic of Protestantism is the acceptance of the Five Solas – sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia, Solus Christus и Soli Deo gloria, which are aimed at the validation of Christian doctrines set forth in the Bible. This thesis was demonstrated via the analysis of the doctrinal sources of Lutheranism, Reformed Church and Anglican Church. The article also reports on the five solas present in the creeds of Baptists, Pentecostals, Methodists, Mennonites, Religious Society of Friends, and Seventh-Day Adventists. Cultural and historical proximity of protestants and religious organizations that do not meet the criteria above calls for a new category – “post reformation religions” – that can embrace them all.
