Abstract As a result of population growth in large cities, increase in consumption, and, consequently, in production, the bodies responsible for planning, evaluation, and execution of public policies need to implement strategies aimed at environmental preservation and the construction of sustainable cities. The objective of this study is to analyze sustainability actions in the city of Teresina, Piauí. To this end, descriptive-exploratory research was conducted using the Case Study method and qualitative approach. The last Pluriannual Plan prepared for the period from 2014 to 2017 and its reports on the execution of activities in the period were used. The results found allowed the categorization of the actions from a sustainable perspective, also covering the social, economic, and environmental dimensions. The study concluded that there was a prevalence in the actions of the economic sphere, both in the quantity of actions carried out and in resources employed. Therefore, there is a need for greater investments in the environmental and social areas, in order to promote a well-balanced sustainable development.

Abstract Collaboration in the supply chain is involved in studies that suggest the relationship between companies in search of mutual benefits and maintenance of a strategic partner to improve the operational performance of organizations. The collaborative practices defined in the literature refer to a collaborative culture, joint planning, joint problem solving, and sharing of resources and information. From this perspective, this article aims to evaluate the influence of collaboration in the supply chain on the operational performance of the medium and large industries of the Textile and Metal-mechanic segment of the Vale do Itajaí (SC). Through questionnaires applied in the supply area in a universe of 109 industries, it was possible to collect data from 66 companies. It was found that joint planning and collaborative culture are collaborative practices that influence operational performance. Regarding the performance factors, flexibility was shown as an absent attribute in the industries: after the analysis of the moderating effect by segment, it was concluded that flexibility was not present only in the Metal-mechanic sector. It was also tried to diagnose the influence of the collaboration practices by industrial segment: in the Textile sector the influence of the joint resolution of problems was revealed and, in the Metal-mechanic sector the joint planning as a variable of impact on the operational performance was highlighted.

Abstract This paper investigated the existence of contagion between S&P500 and FTSE100 stock indexes, the two major stock exchange markets in the world, due to Brexit. Brexit caused a wave of volatility in international financial markets and the immediate reaction in US market has brought instability among investors, who remained cautious regarding the unexpected unfolds over the global economy. Dynamic conditional correlation model (DCC GARCH) was applied to analyze the shift-contagion phenomenon in the time series data. The results showed that there was no evidence of shift-contagion between the two markets during the Brexit period. It was possible to observe a moderate increase in the conditional correlation during the month of the Brexit referendum, which may be due to the high interdependence between the two asset markets.

Abstract In order to measure the impact of the economic growth over the years, the sustainable development concept works to balance three pillars of sustainability - economic, social and environmental. This paper has the objective to compare emerging countries (BRICS) with the most developed countries (G7) by analysing sustainable development. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used, thorugh the variant SBM (Slacks Based Measured) model. The inputs were CO2 emission, percentage of unemployed and energy utilization. GDP and life expectancy at birth were used as outputs. The main result was a global average efficency ranking, having the emerging countries in top positions (India, China and Brazil, respectively). In addition, emerging countries have always stood out in the average of the slacks of each analyzed variable. These results are important in terms of being useful for public policies related to sustainable development, especially: (1) to contribute to the discussions related to evaluating the countries, helping to identify those with the best practices with regard to environmental, social and economic aspects in each group; and (2) to guide policy decisions regarding government incentives to promote the development of efficient countries in terms of economic growth and welfare social without harming the environment.

Abstract Metaheuristic algorithms solve optimisation problems by identifying the best combination among a set of variables to enhance a function. Within metaheuristics, the main purpose of this work is that of showing the development of research issues about processes related to optimisation and metaheuristics, with a focus on the projection of those issues with greater possibility of development. Optimization processes is one of the most studied fields in artificial intelligence, optimization, logistics, and other applications The main contributions of this work were the identification of the main issues contained in the themes of process optimization and metaheuristics; an analysis of the expansion and retraction of the aforementioned theme; an understanding of convergence and divergence; and an analysis of the stages of development as presented in the gaps of the fifty most commonly mentioned articles. The main finding was to analyze the development of research topics on optimization processes and metaheuristics, focusing on projecting the topics most likely to develop.

Abstract: The supply chain management (SCM) practices have been consolidated as important tools for increasing productivity and, consequently, business competitiveness. This study shows that peculiar aspects of culture and infrastructure in Brazil become barriers to collaboration and integration, which helps to justify the country's difficulty in inserting its companies into global supply chains. Based on the content analysis of interviews with prominent SCM executives in the country, this work formulates a SCM model contextualized to the Brazilian reality covering three cultural traits and three infrastructural traits. Fourteen propositions offer a fine-grained analysis of feedback mechanisms between said traits that perpetuate the gap between SCM theory and the Brazilian practice, hindering the advancement of SCM in Brazil. The model offers a guide for companies that aim to unclog the bottlenecks to allow the country's participation in the complex 'dance' of the global SCM.

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the definitions, requirements and applications of Digital Twin (DT) models, and for that, a systematic literature review was carried out using Science Direct, Scopus and Web of Science as the bases for the articles. The method used was based on bibliometric analysis of the 332 articles extracted from the bases and a content analysis, which sought to identify contributions, common topics and gaps among the 17 articles that were filtered and identified as relevant to the second objective of this work, the framework proposal. The analyzed sample indicated that authors diverge on the definitions and use different processes to build a DT, models that seek to represent elements of the real environment, which could be products and/or processes/services, with the objective of being a tool for performance monitoring, simulation of scenarios and source of information for decision making. The use of software that often does not have trial licenses or versions for students was also observed in the sample, based on this point and on the analyzed content, an attempt was made to build a conceptual framework for the construction of a DT model in a game engine, using software that does not require licenses.

Abstract: This study examines the effect of audit committee characteristics and board diversity on the performance of companies in Indonesia. In addition, this research also explores the effect of the audit committee's characteristics and the board's diversity on the company's performance in various age classifications. The study involves 170 samples of primary and secondary sector firms registered on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2014 to 2020, analyzed by data panel regression analysis. The study's main findings disclosed that the audit committee's size and the competence of the financial audit committee are positively influencing the market-based firm performance. However, it does not significantly affect the audit committee's meeting frequency regarding the market-based strong performance. Furthermore, the study discloses that foreign and board gender positively influences market-based firm performance. Such findings benefit policymakers in developing appropriate governance mechanisms in the Indonesian market as a developing country. To the best author's knowledge, this study is the first to comprehensively analyze the association between audit committee characteristics and board diversity on market-based firm performance. Furthermore, no previous study conducted additional analyzes based on firm age in the Indonesian context.

Abstract: The lean production paradigm was first adopted by the automobile industry and has been progressively adapted and adopted by several other sectors. Health services are, in general, co-created by users. This poses a logical challenge when applying one of the principles of the lean production paradigm: the establishment of pulled processes. This article investigates how pull processes have been adapted for lean production in healthcare (lean healthcare). A bibliometric analysis of 267 articles on lean healthcare research, published between 2004 and 2021, is presented in this article. A qualitative review of 233 articles is also presented. Most articles presented in this study were published after 2012, and publications and citations are primarily from the US, Brazil, and the UK. 39 articles pertain to an application of the concept, but most of the articles refer to pulling intermediate products, which are not subject to the aforementioned logical challenge. Only 8 articles effectively discuss the pulling of the flow of users. The main conclusion is that pulling has a distinct objective when applied to health care: the goal is not exactly the elimination of queues (the equivalents of intermediate stocks) but the elimination of idleness in downstream resources with limited capacity.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze the financial intermediation market practiced by Autonomous Investment Agents (AIAs) and to identify links between large international asset managers and investors from inland regions of the country. The research is linked to studies of economic sociology and finance that deal with financialization, a process in which financial groups have organized economies and explored innovations such as Exchange Traded Funds – ETFs, contributed to the expansion of asset loans and stock buyback programs, leading to implications for companies and societies. This is an exploratory study that combines historical perspectives, documental analysis, content analysis and a case study. Interviews were conducted with representatives of AIAs companies and the Brazilian Association of Autonomous Investment Agents (ABAAI in Portuguese). In inland municipalities, AIAs aim to reach local elites, "private" customers of traditional banks, expanding the provision of financial services on digital platforms. Considering the proposal to offer Financial Education to clients, AIAs spread the dominant financial culture and innovations such as ETFs. Professionals and AIAs offices in the inland municipalities complement the necessary resources to AIAs companies and partner brokers to access these markets.
