Railway traffic control systems have a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of railway traffic. Therefore, the basic requirement, in addition to the implementation of necessary system functions, is continuous striving for ensuring the high level of reliability. Contemporary development of railway traffic control systems is associated with the application of modern information and communication technologies, which makes it possible to extend the functionality of these systems by the logging events and selfdiagnostics. However, there are no standards in this area, which considerably complicates the unification of scope and types of acquired diagnostic data as well as their analysis. This, of course, has a negative impact on the maintenance of the systems technical reliability. The authors of the paper have noticed this important problem and have proposed a new diagnostic method for railway traffic control systems, which is based on a probabilistic inference. They also verified the developed diagnostic method by testing it on the level crossing protection system. The obtained results have proved the correctness of the adopted railway traffic control systems diagnosing concept.

The paper presents the theoretical foundations regarding the operational wear of rail heads. Rail, which constitute the basic element of the railway track, among others, guides the wheel in a lateral direction as well as enables a safe operation of rail vehicles. The criteria for the interaction of vehicles with the railway surface are described and the issues of interaction of the rail vehicle wheel with the rail is described. In the further part of the work an analysis of the influence of rail head wear of the 60E1 rail profile on the value of the moment of inertia Ix and sectional modulus Wx of this profile was carried out. The analysis was conducted on real, previously prepared samples of 60E1 operated rails. The methodology for calculating the geometric characteristics of cross-sectional characteristics of worn rails has been proposed using the Autodesk Autocad (Computer Aided Design software). The obtained values of moments of inertia and sectional modulus were compared with theoretical formulas described in the literature.

Exploitation of vehicles on the civil market requires the deprivation of utility features of vehicles intended for military or police purposes. The work presents an algorithm of operation to deprive combat vehicles of the utility features. As part of the work, an example of the analysis of the elements of vehicle construction and equipment which should be deprived of functional features is shown, in accordance with the list contained in the above regulations. The authors also provided a description of how to proceed in order to deprive the utility features of the designated construction elements or equipment of the selected combat vehicle.

The article will present aspects related to the construction (modernization) of railway lines in Poland on the example of the modernized section of the railway line E20 Warsaw-Terespol. The purpose of the modernization of this line was to adjust its technical parameters to the EU standards and requirements of AGC (European Agreement on Main International Railway Lines) and AGTC (European Agreement on Main International Combined Transport Lines and Associated Facilities) agreements, which provide for a maximum permissible speed of 160 km/h for steam passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains, with a permissible axle load of 22.5 tons. It will present the previous results of measurements on selected sections and the original concept of rail measurements using ultrasonic defectoscopy and satellite navigation.

This article aims to present the energy needs of a cargo off-road vehicle, whose primary task is to perform the function of transporting goods. For the assumed character of performed transport tasks, an analytical studies of possible construction solutions were carried out. For further considerations, a classic vehicle with an internal combustion engine and its equivalent powered by electricity produced in the fuel cell stack were adopted. For both of the concerned constructions an energy balance and simulation calculations of traction parameters were made. The result of the executed work is a comparative assessment of the suitability of the fuel cell stack as a primary source of drive energy for a general-purpose cargo off-road vehicle.

The article presents the basic issues related to the influence of electromagnetic interference on electronic devices used in transport telematics systems. Classification methods for electronic devices and systems in the aspect of interference of strong high frequency (HF) electromagnetic pulses depend on technical parameters of the interfering signals. Generated, strong electromagnetic pulses in this frequency range may be generated purposefully - as intended signals, e.g. to disable electronic devices and systems used in vast transportation areas. Currently, designers and users of electronic devices and systems do not include the possibility of accumulated interference of strong electromagnetic pulses during operation. Current standard and acts do not provide any requirements determining e.g. resistance and susceptibility to high frequency electromagnetic waves. The author recommends including the selected technical solutions and safety indices in operation. Results and calculations presented in the paper prove that it is possible to defend against the threat upon occurrence of strong electromagnetic pulses, already during the design stage of devices and systems.

Exploitation of railway vehicles, especially in the case of goods transport, on lines with small-radius curves, results in accelerated wear of wheel profiles and rails in curves. This results in increased operating costs and can lead to derailments on such the lines. One of the ways to reduce these negative effects and to improve the wheel-rail interaction in sharp curves is to cover the surface of the wheel flange with coatings of materials with self-lubricating properties. Covering the wheel flange surface with a suitable coating reduces friction coefficient in case of flange-rail head interaction. However, there is a question about the effect of the self-lubricating layer on the safety of the vehicle. The paper presents the results of simulation analysis of dynamic behavior of a two-axial coal wagon with a modeled self-lubricating coating and its effect on wheel wear.

The basic purpose of railway traffic control devices is to ensure a high level of safety of moving trains on the railway network. The railway traffic control devices often work in difficult environmental conditions and are exposed to external interference. These circumstances require continuous analysis of the state of the railway traffic control system. With time, the system's technical condition deteriorates. When its technical condition is not satisfactory it is necessary to operate it and renew its state of use. The rational implementation of exploitation tasks of the railway traffic control system allows the introduction of mathematical modeling methods into exploitation tests. Using the mathematical model of the exploitation process of the railway traffic control system, it is possible to forecast e.g. reliability indicators of its individual objects. Knowledge of exploitation parameters should be used in making decisions in the process of managing the exploitation of the railway traffic control devices.
