To investigate the effect of major morphometric traits of selective group of Trachinotus ovatus at different month ages on body weight,2 635 specimens at 1-month-old stage,4-month-old stage,7-month-old stage,10-month-old stage and 13-month-old stage were measured respectively in terms of total length(x1),body length(x2),body height(x3)and weight(y).Correlation coefficients, path coefficients and determination coefficients of each trait to body weight were calculated through path analysis and multiple linear regression.Effects of each morphometric trait on body weight were also dissected and then the optimal regression equation was established. The results showed that the correlations among 4 traits ranged from 0.017 to 0.960,and all reached significant level(P0.01)at different stages except that at 4-month-old stage. At 1-month-old stage and 4-month-old stage, the trait with strongest direct effect on body weight was the total length, but that at other stages was the body height. The result of determinant coefficient analysis was consistent with that of path analysis, and the fitness of equations at different stages was good(86.9%-90.6%).It indicated that the major morphometric traits affecting body weight were found and traits for selection should be considered at different stages, which provided technical parameters for selective breeding for T.ovatus.

Dinoflagellate genus Cochlodinium Schutt has been documented to form blooms along the coastlines of many countries and caused mass mortalities of fish or shellfish. From October to November,2009,harmful algal blooms(HABs)caused by dinoflagellate Cochlodinium geminatum broke out in the coastal waters in Zhuhai,Guangdong. The bloom covers more than 300 km2.In order to understand the toxicity of the bloom water, and provide some basis to the algae bloom management and further study of this species, acute toxicity of the bloom water against larvae of zooplankton Artemia salina, fish Scatophagus argus and shrimp Penaeus vannamei was investigated under room conditions. Moreover, feeding rate of A.salina on C.geminatum was also investigated in this paper. The results showed that LC50(Median Lethal Concentration)of C.geminatum against A.salina larvae was 9.55×104/mL within 24 h.LT50 of C.geminatum against A.salina larvae decreased with the increasing cell density.LT50 of C.geminatum with cell density of 2.5×103/mL against A.salina larvae was 48.5 h.No adverse effects of C.geminatum on the survival of fish and shrimp larvae was observed within 60 h.On the other hand,it was found that both A.salina and S.argus larvae could feed on C.geminatum.But the feeding rate of A.salina larvae was low.Overall, the bloom water of C.geminatum caused an impact on the survival of A.salina.C.geminatum with high cell density could cause mass mortality of A.salina larvae.However,A.salina could live on low cell densities of C.geminatum.Causes of the death of A.salina larvae may not be due to the ingestion of C.geminatum.C.geminatum caused acute toxicity neither against the S.argus larvae nor against the P.vannamei larvae.

Shrimp head is susceptible to autolysis under certain conditions, the protein in it is degraded into soluble protein, peptides and amino acids, and some peptides are active peptides which can inhibit the ACE enzyme activity. At present, many ACE inhibitory peptides derived from food protein have been developed. In the present study, two ACE inhibitory peptides(Tyr-Pro and Leu-Pro/Ile-Pro)were highly purified from the shrimp head(Litopenaeus vannamei)autolysate by extra fine membrane and a series of column chromatographies. In the first autolysis solution of shrimp head was consecutively extracted through extra fine membrane with molecular weight cut-offs(MWCO)at 8,5,3 ku,respectively. The active results shown that filtrate through MWCO at 3 000 u had the highest ACE inhibitory activity. The crude filtrate through MWCO at 3 ku was purified by Sephadex G-25 gel chromatography,SP Sephadex C-25 anion-exchange chromatography as well as Sephadex G-15 gel chromatography, respectively. After that, the ACE inhibitory activity of purified filtrate almost increased by 8 times(IC50=0.19 mg/mL)that of crude filtrate. The high active collected fraction from Sephadex G-15 gel chromatography was carried out by RP-HPLC(High-Performance Liquid Chromatography)twice for the further purification and two kinds of dipeptide were obtained, and the identification of dipeptide by mass spectra showed that they were Tyr-Pro and Leu-Pro/Ile-Pro,and the molecular weight was 279 u and 229 u,respectively.

White spot syndrome virus(WSSV)is one kind of destructive virus affecting shrimp industry in the world.Output of Fenneropenaeus chinensis which once was a staple species has been greatly affected by outbreak of WSSV since 1993 in China. To produce WSSV-resistance shrimp strains is an important approach to revive the shrimp industry. To select survived F.chinensis as broodstock via WSSV challenge test can increase the efficiency of breeding. However, mortality of shrimps could reach nearly 100% once they were infected with WSSV,which increases the difficulty for shrimp breeding. In this study for the purpose to reveal effect of different WSSV amount on F.chinensis, juvenile F.chinensis were infected with a certain amount of WSSV individually and the survival time and survival rate were observed. The results showed that survival time of shrimps infected with 5.2×108 copies,1.0×109 copies and 2.1×109 copies of WSSV respectively was 389.3,323.3 and 187.3 h and significant different(P0.01).The cumulative mortalities of all the shrimps finally reached 100%.The survival time increased while shrimps were fed with less WSSV bait. For the purpose to reveal the effect of diets on the ability for disease resistance, shrimps infected with WSSV were fed with different diets of live brine shrimps, commercial bait and fresh clam.It was showed that the survival time of infected shrimps fed with live brine shrimps, fresh clam and commercial bait respectively was 281.7,173.9 and 164.9 h.The survival time of infected shrimp fed with live brine shrimps was significantly higher than that fed by commercial bait and fresh clam respectively(P0.01).There was no significant difference of survival time between infected shrimps fed with commercial bait and fresh clam(P0.05).Cumulative mortalities of all the groups of infected shrimps that fed with different diets were 100%.Live brine shrimp is better than commercial bait and fresh clam for the purpose of enhancing shrimp WSSV resistance ability.

Oscillatoria sp.is a common and harmful cyanophyte in shrimp culture pond.In this study, the sterile filtrate of Brevibacillus laterosporus and Oscillatoria sp.were used to study the algicidal effects in their different growth stages. The algae dry weight,chlorophyll-a and phycocyanin content were measured in order to explore the best algae-lysing period and the algicidal mechanism. The final aim was to provide the basic theory for improving water environment in shrimp pond. The results showed that algicidal effects of the sterile filtrate on Oscillatoria sp.were very significant(P0.01)when the algae-lysing bacteria was in the stable and decline phases. After 7 days, the algae dry weights were reduced by 51.77%,47.04% respectively, the contents of chlorophyll-a were decreased by 67.60%,59.13% respectively;the phycocyanin contents were increased by 33.51%,30.97%,respectively.Similarly,the algicidal effect of the sterile filtrate of algae-lysing bacteria was so conspicuous(P0.01)on the lag phase Oscillatoria sp..7 days later, the algae dry weight was reduced by 63.90%;the content of chlorophyll-a was decreased by 69.72%;the phycocyanin content was increased by 54.17%.The conclusion was that the sterile filtrate of Brevibacillus laterosporus in the stable phase had the best algicidal effect on the lag phase Oscillatoria sp..
