Identifying Conflict Management Methods of School Principals as Perceived by School Teachers in Jordan 识别约旦学校教师认为的校长冲突管理方法

The main purpose of this study was to identify conflict management methods used by secondary school principals based on the perspective of teachers. A sample of 256 male and female teachers participated in the study. The concept of conflict management was measured using cooperation, avoidance, waiver, competition, and settlement as a method to manage conflicts among teachers. The findings of the study indicated that ‘settlement’ was the most preferred method for conflict management by school principals, followed by cooperation, then by the waiver. Avoidance was the least preferred method to be used by school principals in conflict management. The results of the study revealed statistically no significant differences in gender, educational qualification, and experience among participants on the perceived conflict management method used by the school principals (p-value >0.05). The study recommended training courses for school principals to raise their awareness of conflict management.

Digital Storytelling Video Analysis for Improving Digital Material Reading Practices (NILAM): A Case Study 数字故事视频分析改善数字材料阅读练习(NILAM):个案研究

One way to help students improve their digital reading skills is through a digital story video. The fact that students are starting to prefer digital reading materials is a good sign because it shows that they are keeping up with modern technology. Therefore, this study aims to analyze digital storytelling videos to improve the practice of reading digital materials (NILAM). The design of this study is qualitatively using document analysis and semi-structured interviews as a method of data collection. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three study participants to examine the Reading Incentive Planning and Activity Report and school-level NILAM data. The findings imply that digital narrative videos can enhance reading behaviors. Via reading-promoting school activities, students have also been introduced to digitalization activities. Revising the school-based reading program (NILAM), this digital storytelling film can improve the practice of reading digital content. This study is expected to further expand digital storytelling videos by diversifying digital reading materials and improving the practice of reading digital materials (NILAM).

Problem Based Learning and Their Effect on Learning Outcomes Estimation of Calculation Operations Number in Elementary School 问题型学习及其对小学计算运算数学习成果估计的影响

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and other operations on numbers are referred to as arithmetic operations. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the impact of problem-based learning (PBL) on primary school students’ learning outcomes related to guessing the outcomes of mathematical operations. A quasi-experimental design was used for this study. Class IVC was acquired as the experimental class and class IVB as the control class thanks to the sample selection’s usage of a straightforward random sampling technique. Additionally, SPSS 26 was used to aid in data analysis for this investigation. The data analysis produced the results tcount>ttable, which are 2.423>1.669. If H0 is rejected and H1 is true, then learning through utilizing the model has a large impact. The suggestion of this study put forward to improve learning outcomes in mathematics learning process in elementary schools, specifically on the topic of estimating the results of arithmetics operations.

Developing Mathematics Achievement and Inductive Reasoning: A Proposed Technique According to Brain Compatible Learning Theory 发展数学成就和归纳推理:一种基于脑相容学习理论的建议方法

Recent research has shown the need to present knowledge to students in a manner consistent with the characteristics of the human brain, especially during learning mathematics, which contributes to the development of achievement and inductive reasoning. The current study aimed to develop achievement and inductive reasoning by employing brain-compatible learning theory in teaching and learning mathematics for sixth-grade students in Oman. The sample included (74) students, who were divided into two equal groups: experimental and control. Study data were collected using mathematical achievement tests and inductive reasoning. There were significant differences between the two groups in the post-application of the achievement and inductive reasoning tests in favor of the experimental group, which indicates that teaching mathematics according to the theory of learning compatible with the brain had a significant impact on the development of achievement and inductive reasoning among the participants. The study recommended the need to develop and teach mathematics curricula in a way that allows for the practice of many activities and exercises that contribute to the development of students’ achievement and inductive reasoning skills.

The Decline of a Professional Academic Organization: Examining a Regional Association 专业学术组织的衰落:以地区协会为例

Organizations, civic clubs, volunteer associations, academic societies and associations, and religious and non-profit organizations have experienced declines in membership and participation during the past decades. The advent of COVID and the disruption to travel, gathering, and social activities is often cited as hastening what had already been seen as a trend and perhaps providing the death knell for many organizations and associations. Academic organizations and professional societies dedicated to fields of study and the advancement of knowledge in specific disciplines are no exception to these trends, and many have seen steep declines in participation and membership. This paper examines the case of a regional academic organization, the Southwest Case Research Association (SWCRA), and the negative trend lines experienced by the organization. Potential solutions are discussed in preparation of strategic planning and positioning for the future.

The Human Teacher, the AI Teacher and the AIed-Teacher Relationship 人类教师、人工智能教师和人工智能教师关系

ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered chatbot, has caused a stir in the Higher Education landscape, with fears of plagiarism and a disruption of the student-teacher relationship that has formed the bedrock of teaching. ChatGPT-3 and now four have been reported to pass many exams, including medical, law, and engineering. Overwhelming concerns from academics about students using these generative AI tools to work on their assessments is alarming. These AI tools are here to stay. Teachers should not treat AI as ‘the enemy’, and instead find ways to work with it for the betterment of learning outcomes for students. Working with AI can mean transforming teaching and the AIed-teacher relationship, resulting in positive outcomes and learning experiences for teachers and students.

Exploring Self-Regulated Learning and Their Impact on Students’ Mathematical Communication Skills on the Topic of Number Patterns With the Blended Learning System 基于混合学习系统的数字模式主题自主学习及其对学生数学沟通能力的影响

This research aims to describe students’ MCS on the topic of number patterns with a blended learning system and describe profile students’ self-regulation learning (SRL) in Junior High School SMPN 8 Padang. The descriptive and qualitative method was adopted. Data were collected using questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The first step in taking the subject is the administration of an online learning SRL questionnaire through a Google form, followed by the result analysis. The second step is the administration of offline tests to class VIII students, while the third is an online interview activity through WhatsApp based on the SRL. The results showed that 40% were able to express mathematical ideas orally, in writing, and through demonstration and description. Furthermore,40% were able to explain their understanding of written mathematical presentations orally. Only 20% could communicate digitally, through the use of computer technology. The results also showed that 47.5% of students have MCS, which is in the medium category. Approximately 69% agree students enrolled in an offline course adopted self-regulated learning.

Passion to Learn Well With Reflections of CGPA and Course Levels: Empirical Evidence 学习热情与CGPA和课程水平的反映:经验证据

Passion to learn well (PLW) is important. With limited time and resources, how instructors can pinpoint and prioritize students who need support and encouragement to learn well and achieve the desired class performance. Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is one acceptable factor in evaluating students’ academic performance. This research studied the relationship between PLW and CGPA, and course levels. The study surveys students at an undergraduate Bangkok private university, business school, real estate major. The questionnaire surveys were conducted in November 2021, and employed quantitative methods and descriptive data analysis. The results show that the higher CGPA, the higher the levels of PLW. Students with a CGPA of 2.35 and below reflected the median level of PLW. Students with CGPA above 3.00 reflected PLW at high to the highest levels. Course levels also show a relationship with PLW. The higher the course levels – from junior to senior courses – the higher PLW. Senior courses had a higher proportion of PLW at high level than junior courses. The findings contribute by support with empirical evidence.

The Relation Between Psychological Stress and Locus of Control Among University Students 大学生心理压力与心理控制源的关系

The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between psychological stress and locus of control among students at A University, while taking various factors into account. To achieve this objective, two scales were utilized: the psychological stress scale, previously used in Derany’s (2003) research, and the Locus of Control scale, developed by Rotter and translated to Arabic and coded by Barhoom (1999). The study sample included 353 randomly selected students, and the data was analyzed using the distributive method of analysis. The findings indicated that the level of psychological stress among the students was moderate, with an average of 2.34. The mental area had the highest stress level, with a mean of 2.70, followed by the psychological area, with a mean of 2.32 and the physiological area, with a mean of 1.99. The majority of students exhibited an internal locus of control (59 percent), and there was a statistically significant difference between psychological stress and locus of control.

Because of the complexity of modern life in all aspects, people can face different stressful life events, which also lead to different physiological disorders. The current study aimed to discover the relationship between stressful life events and feelings of hopelessness, and psychological loneliness. The study sample consisted of (294) students from Al-Balqa Applied University (females, 262; males, 32). The researchers used three tools: the stressful life events scale, the hopelessness scale and the psychological loneliness scale. The study results showed a positive correlation between stressful life events and feelings of hopelessness and psychological loneliness. Accordingly, future suggestions for research, policy and practices are presented.
