The Department of Avionics, Faculty of Aeronautics, Technical University of Košice uses a “Carbon Cab” equipped with a PixHawk PX-4 autopilot for its research in the field of UAV control. This autopilot allows a wide range of adjustments to the steering and the control loops themselves contained in the steering circuit. It is also possible to load the autopilot into its own control circuit and thus test its influence on the controlled quantities and the stability and controllability of the aircraft, which is the control object. The authors of the article discuss the simulation verification of the created model of a triaxial angular velocity sensor. The verification of the sensor model is performed by connecting it to the feedback loop of the mathematical model of the aircraft for longitudinal movement. The authors of the article discuss the changes that occur by connecting the sensor to the connection and their other possible solutions. Based on this connection, it is possible to analyze the interfering effect of raw data coming from the sensor and then create a filter that adjusts the data coming from the sensor to a suitable form, taking into account the increase in stability and controllability of the aircraft. The Allan variance method was used to analyze the sensor noise processes that had to be performed to create the sensor error model.

The objective of this paper is to introduce a comprehensive status of cyber security challenges in Surveillance Data Distribution System (SDDS). The cyber security is one of the essential issues of current Air Traffic Systems. It has been mandated by European Union law as well as national law. Therefore, EUROCONTROL as the provider of several tools or services (SDDS, IMPACT, EAD, ARTAS etc.), is regularly conducting a penetration testing in order to identify security vulnerabilities of each system. For this purpose, a grey-box assessment was conducted by EUROCONTROL’s security experts on the SDDS system in a development environment of EUROCONTROL’s data centre. The numerous vulnerabilities were found, mainly due to older version of operation system used by the system. They are currently mitigated by the fact that SDDS systems allows the network connectivity only to trusted partner. The next version of SDDS application will be addressing the most critical issues.

Covid-19 pandemic influenced whole world and also airline industry. Air traffic was suspended for several weeks. The resumption of air traffic has been accompanied by a number of hygiene measures to prevent the further spread of the above-mentioned virus. We can also prevent the spread of the virus by reducing the number of passengers on board the aircraft. However, this restriction has a direct effect on the load factor and thus the profitability of the airline. In this article, we focus on recalculating different scenarios with regard to limiting the number of passengers on board of the aircraft at the same time and we have calculated the change in air transport prices with respect to costs and these limitations. The individual scenarios either copy the limitation of the number of passengers on board and thus the price is directly proportional to this reduction, or the individual scenarios work with limiting number of passengers on board but the price for transport is inversely increased so that the air carrier covers the cost of the flight. Results of these calculations shows margins between prices in different scenarios. Paper also proposes the best possible scenario for calculation of ticket price.

The quality of pilot training is an important part of increasing aviation safety. Nowadays is no common and standardized training content on the assessment of instrument scanning performance and situation awareness for pilots. Our research investigates the potential of using eye track technology to track eye movement to support pilot flight simulator training. For the relevance of the data, we verified our theory in practice during the training of pilots on the L-410 UVP-E20 fixed base flight simulator and ELITE S923 FNPT II MCC flight simulator configured as a Beechcraft King Air B200 turboprop located at Airport Zilina. After the flight, pilots could check the correct scanning technique, total dwell time, number of fixations, saccades, scan maps, and pupil size. This option has proven to be very effective not only for pilots themselves but also for instructors, especially in the case of inexperienced pilots starting with instrument flying.

The article describes a new agenda of security and protection of socially important objects. The issue of socially important objects affects all branches of the national economy and all areas of cultural and social life. One of the important areas is transport. In the conditions of Central Europe, several types of land transport and air transport are used. Air transport has a number of infrastructure facilities that need to be adequately protected. Some of them can be included in the group of socially important objects. In the article, the authors present the starting points of a new security research project in the Czech Republic. The aim of the article is to disseminate knowledge in the field of risk minimization of socially important objects.

Currently, statistical modeling is a very widespread way to simplify the approximation of reality through mathematical descriptions of the systems studied in the form of mathematical models. Model is a very often used simplified abstract tool for predicting the behavior of the modeled systems. When modeling complex transport systems, we encounter phenomena and processes whose input parameters are often random in nature. Their states can be predicted with some probability. In such cases, it is possible to use Monte Carlo methods for statistical prediction of states of continuous random phenomena and subsequent simulation and a sufficient number of generated input parameters of the model to obtain statistical results approaching the state of the modeled system in the real environment. The content of the article is a description of the practical application and use of the Monte Carlo method in statistical modeling in the study and in solving a specific problem in transport systems and optimization of transport processes.

The aim of this article is a better organization of an aircraft maintenance equipment in the hangar stand of the Line Maintenance of the Czech Airline Technics company. The theoretical part of the article is about introduction of a situation and a description of used methods. The practical part is about the better organization itself and it arose from a requirement to propose an order for the current unorganized placement of the equipment. Effective organization of the workplace is proposed with regards to set criteria which were processed with the use of a coordinate method and multi-criteria decision making. The coordinate method finds ideal placement for the equipment presented in the hangar. It takes into consideration the places of use as well as other places affecting the placement. The multi-criteria decision making is used to evaluate the benefit of each equipment. With the consideration of the 5S method principles, the output of the article is a practical implementation of the described process of the better organization of the equipment in the newly built hangar S at the Václav Havel Airport, Prague, Czech Republic. The implementation achieved standardization of the inner organization, setting of rules and solving tasks needed for getting the new hangar into operation.

Turbojets still have their role in aviation, mostly due to the advent of unmanned aerial vehicles. The main goal of the present research is to develop a preliminary airborne test bed for a micro turbojet engine to accomplish performance measurements. The authors have carried out a multidisciplinary assessment of various fields of powerplant integration into an already existing radio controlled aircraft. This paper deals with the assessment of wing loading, center of gravity and stability questions. The other part of this complex research focuses on the measurement system that allows remote collection of airborne engine operation. The entire work, presented here and in Part II, is intended to show benefits of using Turbofan Power Ratio (TPR) in such kind of turbine engines as well, which can be considered as novelty for turbojet engines on the contrary to conventional controls based on rotor speed (n) or Engine Pressure Ratio (EPR).
