Adjustable-speed drives for thermal power plant boiler feed pumps. Russian and American experience 用于火力发电厂锅炉给水泵的调速驱动器。俄罗斯和美国的经验

This paper describes the experience of retrofitting the boiler feed pumps of fossil generating units in the USA during 1985-87 in an EPRI field test program. While this work was done 10 years ago, the lessons learned from the work apply today. Most of the ASD technology used in these tests is still in use today with several orders of magnitude better reliability. This EPRI work has led to a US/Russian study by EPRT and its Russian counterpart, VNIIE, of retrofitting boiler feed pumps in Russia.

This paper presents the analysis of a new power converter-inverter topology for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive applications. The SRM is fed from a power converter-inverter system. The current-controlled power converter draws sinusoidal AC currents from the supply mains and maintains them in-phase with the supply voltages, thereby facilitating unity power factor operation.

Speed-sensorless vector control of an induction motor using recursive least square algorithm 基于递推最小二乘算法的异步电动机无速度传感器矢量控制

This paper examines the improvement of the speed-sensorless vector control performance of an induction motor with a speed estimator using the self-tuning regulator (STR) control scheme. The proposed scheme, which consists of a recursive least squares algorithm and a PI control algorithm, increases the stability and improves the control performance in both the steady-state and transient state for both varying and constant speed references.

This paper presents the design characteristics, special features, and manufacturing aspects of a permanent magnet axial flux synchronous generator. This machine is aimed at applications in the low power low speed range (5 kVA, 500 rpm). A central stator configuration is selected for the construction of the axial flux generator, so that the stator leakage inductance is significantly reduced.

Computer aided models for the characterization of synchronous reluctance motor drive systems 同步磁阻电机驱动系统特性的计算机辅助模型

A computer aided model is used to predict the performance characteristics of synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) drives. The approach indirectly couples a two dimensional (2D) nonlinear finite element (FE) model, which accounts for magnetic saturation and space harmonics, to a time variant state space model describing the SynRM drive system. The effects of various modes of excitation on the axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) rotor synchronous reluctance motor drive system performance characteristics are studied. The simulation results are also validated by comparison to test data of a prototype ALA rotor SynRM drive system.

Novel control scheme for reduced switching loss in inverter drives 一种降低变频器开关损耗的新型控制方案

A novel control scheme of direct flux space vector modulation (DFSVM) is proposed for inverter-fed AC motor drives. The proposed scheme is characterised by reduced switching losses for the device and low harmonic current at high output voltage for the motor, resulting in a low harmonic loss and reduced torque ripple drive. Theoretical analyses are presented, and the claimed benefits are verified by experimental results.

Determining in-service motor efficiencies is important to industries concerned with energy conservation and cost savings. However, nonintrusive efficiency measurements of installed motors can be difficult to obtain and even more difficult to verify. This paper evaluates and compares twelve motor efficiency methods through laboratory testing to assess their accuracy and precision. An analysis of the methods and implementation procedures is discussed.

This paper presents the construction method of equivalent circuit and optimization of design variables in single-phase permanent-split capacitor induction motor. For the equivalent circuit, we propose the calculation method of magnetizing reactance according to slip from the circuit equation. Simulation results are compared with experimental results in the characteristics of 4 different models of the motors. The sequential quadratic programming (SQP) is applied to solve the optimal design.

The static dynamometer, an apparent oxymoron, is a system which allows full load testing of variable frequency motor drives with no rotating equipment and only minimal demand from the power line. By inserting a reactor between the drive output and the line from which it is powered, the drive can be made to appear as a synchronous generator. This arrangement offers a practical alternative to the motor-generator sets usually employed for load testing. The required equipment consists of a set of power reactors approximating 10% of the drive rating, a contactor and a phase locked loop circuit for regulating the drive phase relative to the line. The static dynamometer is in production use on variable speed drives from 20 to 5000 hp and 480 to 4160 V. There are no intrinsic limits to either power or voltage for its application.
