Polarization diversity experiments in HF communication 高频通信中的极化分集实验

We have done the experiments with horizontal polarization antenna, vertical polarization antenna and circular polarization antenna respectively, which has proved that it is difficult to build independent spatial channels of different polarizations in a scattering environment and to avoid the same frequency disturbance by using the techniques of polarization diversity. Though the theory shows that in a scattering environment an extra factor of tripling the channel capacity can be obtained, the extra energy is obtained because there are six distinguishable electric and magnetic states of polarization at a given point. According to the characteristics of radio transmission spreading in a scattering environment, the antenna of circular polarization is adopted in HF. and the results show that polarization diversity cannot distinguish spatial channels by the common radio stations and antennae.

An experimental study on a ground-penetrating radar for detecting water-leaks in buried water transfer pipes 探地雷达探测地下输水管道漏水的实验研究

In this paper, the feasibility of ground penetrating radar (GPR) probing technology was experimentally investigated. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tank filled with dry and homogeneous sand is installed in the laboratory. Within meaningful frequency band of the transmitting signal, the electrical properties of the material under test (MUT), such as dry sand and acryl used in experiment, are measured by using an open-ended coaxial probe method. The electrical properties of the drysand are similar to that of acryl. Therefore, to maintain precise position of the buried targets, support is made of acryl and filled with the dry sand. Leaking water could saturate the surrounding medium of leaky pipes. In experiment, however, it is very difficult to maintain moisture content and distribution of wet sand. Equivalent model instead of wet sand is necessary. The electrical property of the wet sand under saturation is very alike that of methanol. Therefore, the box is made of acryl plates and filled with methanol. The box with methanol filling is equivalently considered as water leakage model. We perform B-scan surveys with various situations. And we have investigated the possibility of GPR on detection water leakage as well as the pipe.

Reduced-size slot antennas with low cross polarization 具有低交叉极化的减小尺寸的缝隙天线

In this paper, small slot antennas with low cross polarization are investigated. We employ a symmetrical meander slot structure to design a reduced size slot antenna fed by a microstrip line. It acts as a multiple-folded slot loop antenna with an area reduction up to 50%, while the cross-polarization less than -30 dB can be achieved. The analysis and design of the antennas are accomplished using a commercial full wave simulation software The results compare quite well with the experiments.

A microstrip antenna element for satellite communication 用于卫星通信的微带天线元件

This paper gives a detailed analysis on the impedance and radiating characteristics of a micro-strip patch antenna by computer simulation. Some relationships between its size and characteristic parameters have been found. A new structure of micro-strip antenna is presented based on the analysis, which can be used in VSAT station and satisfied with the following requirement of C-band satellite communication: dual-frequency, wide-band, dual-polarization and isolation. The result gives a good accordance with the conclusion presented in the simulation.

Numerical analysis of a patch antenna with shorting posts 带短柱贴片天线的数值分析

The finite element method (FEM) is applied to analyze a thin substrate antenna with shorting posts. The numerical results of the resonant frequencies are found in good agreement with the experimental data.

An overview of self-calibration in sensor array processing 传感器阵列处理中的自校准综述

The performance of high-resolution DOA estimation methods seriously degenerates when there are model errors in array manifold. According to various prior knowledge of array manifold, this paper classifies series of array self-calibration methods based on second order statistics, then discusses them and concludes their advantages and disadvantages, finally gives some prospect for research on self-calibration.

Effect of space diversity technique in UHF band radio indoor propagation 空间分集技术对超高频无线电室内传播的影响

In order to clarify the receiving condition in the whole room, in this paper, the received level contour map is created based on the measured data of the UHF band radio wave in the indoor environment. Moreover, this paper investigates the effects of applying the space diversity technique that have been well known to be effective techniques to improve the deep fading considering the space uncorrelation of the received level (M. Schwartz et al.) By use of the measured level data, in order to clarify the space diversity effects in the indoor environments, the correlation coefficients between two branches and the cumulative probabilities of the received level are evaluated in case that the space diversity techniques with selection combining are applied.

Optimal design of broadband loaded receiving antenna for HFSWR using simulated annealing 基于模拟退火的HFSWR宽带负载接收天线优化设计

One of the major challenges in using coast-based high frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) is, for the purpose of the long-range detection of ships and aircraft as well as icebergs, or the remote sensing of the ocean environment using the coast-based HFSWR, how the size of transmitting and receiving antennas are reduced at lower end of the HF band. In this paper, according to the operating frequency bandwidth for a HFSWR, where both the gain and the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of a receiving monopole can satisfy the requirement of engineering design, it mainly describes the process in which the loading circuit parameters, locations of the loads along the antenna, as well as matching network parameters are optimized by the simulated annealing algorithm (SAA) to achieve a VSWR less than 3 in the operating frequency bandwidth. Several examples antennas illustrate that the SAA is an effective method for designing HF broadband loaded antennas.

An optimization technique for the design of S-band patch antenna array suitable for dual-frequency operation 一种适合双频工作的s波段贴片天线阵的优化设计技术

In this paper we present the design and optimization approach for the development of S-band microstrip antenna array system with integrated diplexer. The optimization technique using a commercial MoM based solution is discussed in details. The design technique for the microstrip diplexer is also discussed. Measured results display exemplary accuracy with simulated results thereby justifying the use of such techniques for synthesis of antenna arrays.

Stealthy design of a compact range plane scanning frame 一种小型测距平面扫描架的隐身设计

Through experimental study, backscatter characteristics of dihedral corner reflectors are studied. Both frequency and azimuth characteristics are discussed. On the other hand, effect of radar absorbing material (RAM) is verified. Based on all these experiments, a compact range (CR) plane scanning frame (PSF) system, which physical size is about 7.1 m high and 3 m wide, is designed and manufactured. The estimation of its radar cross section (RCS) is by one-dimensional (1-D) down-range imaging method. 1-D images prove that its RCS is less than 0 dBsm (1 m/sup 2/. It meets requirements of practical engineering very well and has been applied in a large CR performance testing successfully.
