This paper analyzes university students' academic performance between the periods before the COVID-19 pandemic and the period of the pandemic. Different scientific materials from the Scopus database are analyzed to recognize the possible factors that could alter school motivation and, consequently, the grade point average. The grades of students in eight subjects are also analyzed. The main results show that it is impossible to establish a single criterion to recognize the reasons that make young people lower their grades. In addition, it was observed that teaching methodologies are essential for improvements in the learning process.

Student retention has become one of the subjects of most significant research interest in higher education due to the high dropout rates occurring for several years worldwide. For the research development, the objective was to analyze student retention in the institutions of higher education in Ecuador. The information from these was analyzed, taking as reference the information reported in the control bodies, the Report on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Institute of the International of the UNESCO for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean. Methodology Applied quantitative and interpretative research, a review of the information available in the open data portals of national and international higher education indicators was conducted. As a result, the retention rate was obtained for co-financed public and private colleges and universities.

This research aimed to demonstrate that the YouTube platform improves learning outcomes in upper-basic sublevel students. Likewise, the problem arose from the increased use of digital tools due to the pandemic. The applied methodology was bibliographic, descriptive, comparative, and transversal. We worked with a sample of thirty students, of which fifteen participated in regular classes without YouTube as a compliment, and the other fifteen did use YouTube in regular courses. The main results show that the use of didactic videos in virtual teaching is essential for the acquisition and understanding of knowledge, observing that in the group that used videos for explanations, the results were highly satisfactory, while in the group that did not use videos. In videos, the results were worrying and weak.

The research aimed to determine the effectiveness of virtual gamification environments as a pedagogical strategy to motivate learning on the Android Studio platform at the High School level in the Millennium Educational Unit "Jama." Which had a quantitative approach that developed surveys on the previous knowledge achieved by teachers related to virtual gamification environments, showing that 97% of teachers do not have basic knowledge related to the subject, and at the same time, 67% have no knowledge regarding virtual environments in the teaching-learning process. Considering the importance of introducing virtual gamification environments in the teaching-learning process to improve the teacher/student relationship through technology since one must constantly learn to be on par with the most developed countries globally.

The objective of this work was to analyze the management of digital communication in the ancestral cultural sanctuaries Yololo Chicomoztoc Teocalli and Campo Hualli located in Chongón and Guale in Ecuador, respectively, the links between digital communication and socio-cultural developmentwere examined, offering a unique experience by sharing on digital platforms the services that these places provide and the benefits they bring. The research is of a non-experimental and transactional design, of an exploratory type, for which research tools were used that allowed obtaining relevant data, which were analyzed and interpreted, providing valuable information for creating and implementing communication strategies on digital platforms. In a simple and friendly way.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a business policy that provides flexibility and productivity to the employees of the companies, organizations, or establishments that adopt it. In this work, a study was carried out to know the formal use of personal mobile devices for work activities, using collection techniques such as surveys and interviews. In this sense, it was analyzed whether or not people officially use BYOD. The main results showed that a significant number of workers use the trend informally from their smartphone, while others are not using it, but they have the availability to do so. Finally, it is proposed to develop an action plan that helps use Bring Your Own Device with adequate data protection and mitigation in the loss of information.

In the university environment, research reports abound with limited use of the systematic review of the literature, which implies insufficient theoretical support and inappropriate use of information from other researchers; this work fulfilled the objective of identifying the teachers' perceptions about the use of the Systematic Literature Review techniques. A mixed methodology was applied, using analysis-synthesis and statistical methods to process the information obtained in the survey. The data analyzed were obtained from surveys of 61 university professors. It was accepted as a result that search engines are used more and more using the appropriate logical operators, recognizing their importance in the academic and investigative work of the teacher, as well as the need to strengthen the capacities for their systematization in the training of professionals and methodological activity.

The research highlights the importance of applying new trends, such as Business Intelligence & Data Analytics, within organizations and institutions to solve strategic and managerial decision-making problems. Based on this concept, a solution was developed for the curricular follow-up process in the Academic Direction of the Polytechnic State University of Carchi; in this sense, quantitative methodologies and Ralph Kimball's method were created for storage and analysis; and the ETL process was designed for the processing of the data obtained from the databases of the integrated computer system. Finally, control panels were developed through the Power BI tool to create dashboards. BI strategies were applied to deliver accurate information in real-time, easy to interpret, and oriented to satisfy the institutional requirements for the academic area.

Low/No-code is a trend in the software development industry that seeks to provide those without specific computer training with easy-to-use tools to create applications or programs to meet a particular business need. In the market, multiple platforms allow users to develop software solutions withsome code or, in some cases, no need for coding. This paper explores the origins of this trend and how it has evolved, and its adoption in software development. The investigation also analyzed the implications of this trend for software professionals over the near future.

The declaration of a global health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic increased the use of mobile devices to carry out different activities but associated with their use come information security risks. Knowing that the human being in charge of operating mobile devices, the weakest link in the security chain, could be a victim of social engineering attacks by not managing security correctly. This research determined how the university community operates security in mobile devices, for which 310 surveys were applied to students, teachers, administrative and service personnel. For the analysis of the result, the statistical method was used, descriptive analysis, obtaining the result that 89% of respondents correctly managed the risks associated with security. However, the university does not carry out training nor disseminate protection mechanisms to avoid social engineering attacks.
